Everyone needs Pinocchio Reading “Le avventure di Pinocchio” is to have an expe- rience, to live through a journey which the reader begins alone but continues with a loyal companion: curiosity. With Pinocchio we learn to laugh, smile and think. We return to the memories of our childhood: behind each prank lies a sense of guilt that, little by little, helps us become true children. But Pinocchio is also an icon: the floral paper outfit, the shoes made of bark and the stale bread cap are three of the many elements that pay homage to the original Pinocchio. This is the premise from which we started working on the project that we are submitting: a return to our roots, to the discovery of the original story, but also of our own childho- od. Because Pinocchio, over time, in Italy and abroad, has undergone several changes: it has been revisited by Disney, it has become a tv series, and even within the park of the “Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi” it takes on different visual appearances. Our project aims at providing the “Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi” with an entire system of visual identity which is able to make one laugh and ponder, evoking the lessons of freedom, light heartedness and reflection which only the original Pinocchio teaches. The brand which we propose recalls Mazzanti’s original illustrations, softens the sketch lines and adapts the images to obtain a visual coherence which is familiar to the today’s youth. Moreover, our project is not only meant as an image, but as a system that can benefit and be applied to all ventures of the “Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi”.
