The project is about theredevelopment of the “Berea” station in Durban, South Africa. The aim of the project is to create temporary houses for people who work in the markets

located inside and outside the station. The areas around the station are very crowded; the problem of overcrowding creates a lot of discomfort and makes it necessary to find

new spaces for people that stay there. Many merchants sleep on the streets at night because they have to work early the next day and they don’t have a place to stay.

The project, to improve the area, provides for the creation of a new space for the market, with housing for people who don’t have a place to sleep.Since all the free space near the station is already busy with other activities, the projectuses the free area on the roof of the station, now unused.Building above the roof of the station you can save space and create a new public place forcitizens and merchants.

ROMAVII Municipio

The project consists of three buildings on the outskirts of Rome “Casale di Gregna.” The area is at the limit between the city and the Roman countryside, towards the Roman Hills. The three buildings are situated around a green space, divided into strips. The idea is to create a public space where people who live together in the same block can socialize with each other and spend time outdoors. On either side of the site, there are located two large public car parks, even for tho-se who want to visit the Roman countryside. The buildings are oriented with the bedrooms to the north-west, and day rooms, such as living room and kitchen, to the south-east.

The access to housing is possible thanks to an outdoor balcony, which is configured as a common public space, which over-look the living areas of the apartments. The sleeping area of the apartments overlooking the other side and has a balcony or a full-height window. There are three types of apartments: - two-room apartments, for two people; - three-rooms apartments, for a family with one or two children; - four-rooms apartments, located at the ends of the buildings, for larger families.

8

The interior of the apartments is very bright, with American maple wooden floor, and white walls, to emphasize the outside light. The floor-to-ceiling windows, in the living and in the night, allow good lighting environments and ensure good ventilation

The project consists of accommodation for college students, rooms with two beds and bathrooms, and related common services, as reading rooms and laundry

In the project there is a gym. in this way the students can make daily physical activity, with the ideal of a healthy lifestyle in the company of other students

For students staying in the housing, and for the other people in the city, there is a table service for lunch and dinnerand a cafe, which is open all day, to revitalize the square

Students staying in the complex can use multimedia rooms with computers and internet access. There are also creative labs for group work

The public space of the square is moved to the top of the building, where there is a walkable and green roof that allows you to enjoy a beautiful view of the square

For students staying in the housing, and for the kids in the neighborhood, there is a bike-sharing service, to reach the university without increasing the traffic

The project is a student housingin Rome, in the Olympic village.is located in a public square in degradation,Jan Palach Square. The project, therefore, occupies an urban void, in order to block the land consumption. the idea of the project is to rebuild the city in the hilly landscape of the Roman countryside, posing as “hills in the city”.Consists of three bands that rise from the ground and simulate the performance of a green hill. Side bands host the accommodations for students, the central host the public spaces, such as the reading room.

VILLA ADRIANATemporary exhibition at Villa Adriana in Tivoli, for the play “Adriano, portrait of a voice” by Giorgio Albertazzi

Tivoli (RM)Lazio

The project is a temporary installation in the Villa Adriana in Tivoli, an important archaeological unesco world heritage site. The installation is built for a play. There is a walkway built over the ancient Roman road, a stage and a backdrop made up of bands of Corten steel perforated, on a structure of innocent tubes can be easily installed and removed. The walkway is covered by a series of bands in corten steel which, bending, creating of seats for spectators. within them there are display panels explaining the play and the history of the Roman Villa. The idea of the stage backdrop is to wrap the existing structure of the vestibule with bands of perforated steel , revealing the Roman bricks during the day and at night by providing a basis for multimedia projections during the play.

SCENE TYPE #1Adriano e AntinooParticularly sad is the scene where the Emperor Hadrian remembers his words the figure of Antinous. For this scene was chosen to project, on the corten bands, the faces of the two characters and lovers, Antinous and Hadrian

SCENE TYPE #2Antinoo’s deathThe saddest scene is the memory of the death of Antinous. For this scene the inside of the cortenbands was illuminated with a light red blood, even using smoke to create a homogeneous and diffuse illumination

JOIN ME!A new interactive and social metro station on the Tiber river in Rome

The project is a new metro station on the river Tiber,on the deck Pietro Nenni. The structure is constituted by a 3D steel grid, with triangular platforms that rise from the level of the river to that of the bridge. The project is located in an areaof the city currently in the deterioration, and wants to be a new point of socialization on the river, in order to revivethe relationship between the river and the city.

The project was designed with the help of parame-tric software grasshopper through an algorithm that, given a cloud of random points in space, creates a network that unites them, simulating the tension of the steel elements in pro-portion to the distance of the points, passing through the platforms that have been drawn from the level of the Tiber, up to the bridge.

The structure, created throu-gh the parametric software grasshopper, is smart, interacts with people and their smartpho-nes, with a dedicated app, giving them information about tran-sport, sharing their interests and their data, in order to make it easy socializing while waiting, while pe-ople are relaxing on elastic plat-forms suspended over the river.
