La Valbelluna si estende da nord-ovest a sud seguendo l’andamento del fiume Piave, delimitata a nord dal gruppo della Schiara, dal monte Serva, dai Monti del Sole e dalle Vette Feltrine e a sud dalle Prealpi Bellunesi. Per gli amanti dello sci l’Alpe del Nevegàl, a sud di Belluno, a pochi km dalla pianura veneta, offre: 20 km di piste per lo sci alpino, con la possibilità di sciare anche in notturna, un campo scuola, una pista per snowboard ed una decina di km di anelli per lo sci di fondo. Il Nevegàl si affaccia come un terrazzo sulle Dolomiti, offrendo una splendida vista sulle vette dolomitiche, sulla città di Belluno e sull’intera valle del Piave. Dalla cima del Visentin, volgendo lo sguardo verso sud nelle giornate più limpide, si scorge la laguna veneta e la sagoma del campanile di S. Marco.

OLTRE LO SCIMolte le opportunità che la zona offre per praticare sci alpinismo e passeggiate con le ciaspe; per gli amanti del brivido le guide locali organizzano passeggiate con ramponi lungo il canyon ghiacciato del Brent de l’Art, nei pressi di Trichiana.

GASTRONOMIA E PRODOTTI TIPICIErbe spontanee, verdure, legumi e frutti del bosco danno vita a primi piatti deliziosi: minestre con fagioli, ortiche, funghi, orzo; gnocchi di zucca con la ricotta affumicata ed il burro fuso; pane raffermo, olio d’oliva, sale e salvia creano la “panada”, che diviene “panada regina” negli ottimi ristoranti della zona. Gustosissima nell’accostamento con patate, salsicce, salami e formaggi è la polenta di farina gialla, che ben si accompagna anche a secondi piatti a base di coniglio, pollo, selvaggina, al classico pastin, alle costicine di maiale o allo “schiz”, formaggio fresco rosolato nel burro aggiungendo, magari, un tocco di panna. I dolci: i crostoi, legati al carnevale, le torte di pane come la “pan e pomi”; i “kodinzon”, sfoglie di mele essiccate al sole. Per finire, un buon digestivo o una grappa ai frutti di bosco.

The Valbelluna stretches from north-west to south, following the course of the Piave River; it is closed off to the north by the Schiara group, Monte Serva, the Monti del Sole and the Vette Feltrine, and to the south by the Belluno Pre-Alps. The Nevegal Alps, south of Belluno and just a few kilometres from the Veneto plain, offer downhill skiers 20 km of slopes, some of which are also open at night. There are also 4 ski schools, a snowboarding slope and about ten kilometres of circular cross-country trails. Nevegàl is a sort of terrace looking onto the Dolomites, the city of Belluno and the whole of the Piave Valley. On a clear day, from the top of the Visentin, if you look southwards you can just make out the outline of the bell tower of the Cathedral of San Marco in Venice.

MORE THAN JUST SKIINGThere are numerous opportunities in the area to go ski mountaineering and for trips on ciaspe snow shoes, and local guides are available to accompany the more adventurous on a trip equipped with crampons down the frozen canyon of Brent de L’Art (Trichiana).

TYPICAL CUISINE AND FOOD PRODUCTSWild herbs, vegetables, pulses and forest fruits are the ingredients used to make delicious local fi rst courses: soups with beans, nettles, mushrooms and barley; pumpkin gnocchi with smoked ricotta and melted butter; the previous day’s bread with olive oil, salt and sage becomes the typical “panada”, the more sophisticated version of which, “panada regina” is served in excellent local restaurants. And then there is tasty polenta, made with yellow maize flour, great with potatoes, sausages, salami or cheese, or equally delicious as an accompanimet to main courses made with rabbit, chicken and game, or the classic local “pastin” (spiced, raw mince), pork ribs or schiz, a variety of soft cheese cut into slices and browned in oil, sometimes with a little cream. Local sweets include Carnival specialities such “crostoi”, or sweet breads such as “pan e pomi”, or “kodinzon”, very fi ne sun-dried slices of apple. And finally, a tasty digestive liqueur or a forest fruits grappa.

Das Tal von Belluno, oder Valbelluna, zieht sich von Nordwesten nach Süden dem Fluss Piave entlang. Im Norden wird es von der Schiara Gruppe, dem Monte Serva, der Gruppe Monti del Sole und der Gruppe Vette Feltrine abgeschlossen, und im Süden läuft es in den Bellunesischen Voralpen aus. Südlich der Stadt Belluno liegt das Schigebiet Alpe del Nevegàl. Es befindet sich unweit der venetischen Tiefebene und wartet mit 20 km Pisten - zwei davon auch Nachtpisten – 4 Schischulwiesen, einer Snowboardpiste und ca. 10 km Loipen auf. Der Berg Nevegàl ist wie eine Terrasse, von der aus man einmalige Ausblicke auf die Dolomiten, auf die Stadt Belluno und das gesamte Piavetal genießen kann. Vom Gipfel Col Visentin sieht man an klaren Tagen sogar die Lagune Venedigs und den Glockenturm der Markuskirche.

NICHT NUR SCHILAUFDas Gebiet eignet sich hervorragend für Schitouren und Schneeschuhwanderungen. Wer das Extreme liebt, kommt in der Nähe der Ortschaft Trichiana zum Canyon Brent de l’Art und kann es dort unter der Aufsicht eines Bergführers mit Iceclimbing versuchen.

KULINARISCHES UND HEIMISCHE SPEZIALITÄTENWildkräuter, Gemüse, Hülsenfrüchte und Waldfrüchte geben den ausgezeichneten Vorspeisen eine ganz besondere Note: Suppen mit Bohnen, Brennnesseln, Pilzen, Gerste, Kürbisgnocchi mit geräucherter Ricotta und zerlassener Butter. Hartes Brot, Olivenöl, Salz und Salbei sind die Zutaten zur Panada, die in einigen raffinierten Restaurants zur Panada Regina gekrönt wird. Zu Kartoffeln, Würsten und Käse bekommt man Polenta aus gelbem Maismehl; sie schmeckt aber auch als Beilage zu Hühner-, Hasen- und Wildragout ganz ausgezeichnet, oder zum Pastin, zu Schweinerippen und zu Schiz, einem Frischkäse, der mit etwas Butter und Sahne in der Pfanne zerlassen wird. Die heimischen Süßspeisen sind: die Crostoi, ein Faschingsgebäck, Brottorten wie die Pan e pomi und die Kodinzon, an der Sonne getrocknete Apfelstangen. Und zum Abschluss gibt es ein Verdauungsschnäpschen oder einen Grappa mit Waldfrüchten.

La Valbelluna copre l’area meridionale della provincia di Belluno, un territorio ideale per passeggiate ed escursioni nella natura, ben cinque dei suoi comuni sono all’interno del Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi. Terra natale dello scrittore Dino Buzzati, la valle offre percorsi culturali di grande interesse, dal capoluogo Belluno, con più di 100 edifici di interesse storico-artistico, ai tanti borghi ricchi di chiese, musei ed antiche ville.

ESCURSIONI E SPORTIdeale per tranquille camminate è l’Alpe del Nevegàl, con 100 km di percorsi, da intraprendere a piedi o in mountain bike, ed innumerevoli sono gli itinerari lungo la dorsale prealpina della sinistra Piave, da esplorare anche a cavallo. Sulla destra Piave, oltre al sentiero naturalistico “Zanardo” a la Stanga, piacevoli sono le escursioni al monte Peron, alla Pala Alta, alla chiesetta di S. Giorgio. Da non perdere lo spettacolo della fioritura sul monte Serva, colline di Zelant e Pian di Coltura. Tantissime poi le opportunità di escursione, da soli o con guida, offerte dal Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi. Altri preziosi gioielli naturalistici sono la riserva integrale delle Alpi Orientali sul Monte Faverghera e i biotopi di Valmorel e Vedana. I numerosi torrenti della Valbelluna sono d’estate mete ideali per gli appassionati di torrentismo, kajak, canoa e, naturalmente, pesca sportiva.

BRIVIDI IN QUOTANel Gruppo dello Schiara, un facile itinerario conduce da La Muda al rifugio Bianchét, mentre un sentiero per esperti da Bolzano Bellunese sale al rifugio 7° Alpini ripercorrendo l’ultimo tratto dell’Alta Via n. 1 delle Dolomiti. Molto apprezzate e frequentate sono anche l’Alta Via n. 3 e le palestre di roccia, da Soverzene a Soccher fino alla Val Bruna. L’aeroporto turistico di Belluno, teatro di competizioni internazionali di paracadutismo, offre emozionanti voli sulle Dolomiti; veri brividi ad alta quota!

TRA STORIA, ARTE E CULTURAÈ un tuffo nel medioevo da non perdere la visita al Castello di Zumelle (46 d. C.), che domina la vallata di Mel, sulla Sinistra Piave, ed alla vicina necropoli paleoveneta di Mel. A poco meno di 10 km da Belluno, immersa nel Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi, si trova la Certosa di Vedana, luogo riposante e tranquillo che, nonostante sia visitabile solo dall’esterno, ospita una comunità di monache di clausura, merita una breve deviazione sia per la bellezza del complesso architettonico sia per il sottostante lago di origine glaciale. Ed ancora: le antiche chiese di Bribano e Lentiai, entrambe monumento nazionale, inserite nell’itinerario “La pittura del ‘500”. Molte le ville ad alto valore artistico e storico, come Villa Gaggia a Socchieva, sede dell’ultimo incontro tra Hitler e Mussolini il 19 luglio 1943, inserite nei circuiti de “la Via Regia” e “Ville nel paesaggio prealpino”. Per gli amanti della letteratura un piacevole itinerario conduce in Valmorel, sopra Limana, alla scoperta dei luoghi di Dino Buzzati.

HIKES AND SPORTAn ideal place for peaceful walks is the Nevegal Alps, with 100 km of paths to follow on foot or by mountain bike; and there are also countless paths running along the Pre-Alpine ridge of the Sinistra Piave area on the left bank of the river, also ideal for exploring on horseback. hikes can be enjoyed to Monte Peron, Pala Alta, and the little Church of S. Giorgio. Not to be missed is the spectacular display of fl owers in bloom on Monte Serva, the hills of Zelant and Pian di Coltura. And then of course there are a host of walking and hiking opportunities within the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. Other marvels of nature are the integral nature reserve of the Eastern Alps on Monte Faverghera and the biotopes of Valmorel and Vedana. In the summer the numerous torrents of the Valbelluna attract fans of canyoning, kajaking, canoeing, and of course sport fi shing.

HIGH ALTITUDE THRILLSIn the Schiara Group, an easy route goes from La Muda to the Bianchét Refuge, while another, suitable for experts, climbs up from Bolzano Bellunese to the 7° Alpini Refuge, along the last section of the Alta Via 1 Dolomites High Altitude Trail. Also popular are the Alta Via 3 High Altitude Trail and the climbing practice wall, from Soverzene to Soccher on to the Val Bruna. At Belluno tourist airport, which hosts international parachuting events, visitors can enjoy the thrill of a flight over the Dolomites – now that’s what you really call high altitude thrills!

HISTORY, ART AND CULTUREA visit to Zumelle Castle (46 a.d.), overlooking the valley of Mel, on the left bank of the Piave River, is a veritable journey back in time to the Middle Ages; and also worth a visit is the nearby Paleovenetian necropolis just outside the village of Mel. Just under 10 km from Belluno, set in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, is the Charterhouse of Vedana in Sospirolo, a quiet, restful place which merits a brief detour to admire the superb architecture and the lake below, of glacial origin. The Charterhouse can be viewed from the outside only, because it is home to an order of enclosed nuns. Also interesting are the ancient churches in Bribano and Lentiai, both national monuments, which form part of the 16th century paintings itinerary. Many local villas are of great historical and artistic value, such as Villa Gaggia in Socchieva - part of the “Via Regia” and “Villas in the Pre-alpine landscape” itineraries - where Hitler and Mussolini met for the last time on the 19th of July 1943. Literature lovers can explore an agreeable route which leads into the Valmorel and the landscapes which inspired Dino Buzzati’s writings.

Die Region Valbelluna deckt sich mit dem südlichen Territorium der Provinz Belluno und ist ein ideales Gebiet für Spaziergänge und Wanderungen. Fünf der dortigen Gemeinden liegen im Nationalpark der Bellunesischen Dolomiten. Dieses Land, das unter anderem die Heimat des berühmten Schriftstellers Dino Buzzati war, wartet mit hochinteressanten Kulturrouten auf: schon allein die Hauptstadt Belluno hat mehr als 100 historisch und artistisch wertvolle Gebäude. Die Region hütet aber noch viele andere kleine Dörfer mit Kirchen, Museen und antiken Villen.

SPAZIERGÄNGE, WANDERUNGEN UND SPORTIdeal für erholsame Spaziergänge ist die Zone Alpe del Nevegàl, wo es 100 km Wege für Wanderungen oder Mountainbiketouren gibt, und am Voralpenkamm längs des linken Piaveufers findet man ebenfalls eine Unzahl von Pfaden, die man auch auf dem Pferderücken erkunden kann. Am rechten Piaveufer gibt es neben dem Naturweg „Zanardo“ in Stanga Wanderrouten auf den Monte Peron, auf den Pala Alta und zur Kapelle San Giorgio. Ein einmaliges Spektakel erlebt man im Frühling, wenn sich die Wiesen auf dem Monte Serva, den Hügeln von Zelant und auf der Hochebene Pian di Coltura in bunte Blumenmeere verwandeln. Im Nationalpark der Bellunesischen Dolomiten kann man alleine oder in Begleitung eines Bergführers ebenfalls wunderschöne Wanderungen unternehmen. Weitere Juwelen sind die Naturreserve der Ostalpen auf dem Monte Faverghera und die Biotope im Valmorel und in Vedana. Die vielen Wasserläufe im Gebiet Valbelluna bieten sich im Sommer auch für andere sportliche Aktivitäten wie Kajak, Kanu – und natürlich Sportfischen.

ERLEBNISWELT HOCHGEBIRGEAuf der Schiara Gruppe führt ein einfacher Wanderweg von La Muda zur Bianchét Hütte und ein anderer, der nur erfahrenen

Bergsteigern zu empfehlen ist, führt auf dem letzten Abschnitt des Dolomitenhöhenwegs Nr. 1 von Bolzano Bellunese zur 7° Alpini Hütte hinauf. Sehr beliebt sind auch der Höhenweg Nr. 3 und die Kletterfelsen in Soverzene, Soccher und im Val Bruna. Am Flughafen Belluno werden jedes Jahr internationale Fallschirmwettbewerbe ausgetragen, denn das Gebiet ist ideal für aufregende Flüge über den Dolomiten und bietet auch hoch in der Luft einmalige und unvergessliche Erlebnisse!

ZWISCHEN GESCHICHTE, KUNST UND KULTUREin Besuch in der Burg Zumelle (46 n.Chr.) ist wie eine Reise ins Mittelalter. Dieser beeindruckende Bau thront hoch über dem Mel Tal am linken Piaveufer, und ganz in der Nähe kann man eine sehr interessante paläo-venetische Nekropole besichtigen. Mitten im Nationalpark der Bellunesischen Dolomiten und nur 10 km von der Stadt Belluno entfernt steht das Kloster Certosa di Vedana, ein ruhiger und Frieden spendender Ort. Man kann den Gebäudekomplex, in dem ein Klausurorden untergebracht ist, zwar nur von außen besichtigen, aber er ist aufgrund seiner architektonischen Schönheit sicherlich dennoch einen Abstecher wert. Und direkt unterhalb des Klosters schlummert ein bezaubernder kleiner See. Außerdem sehenswert sind die antiken Kirchen in Bribano und Lentiai, die beide zu Nationaldenkmälern erklärt wurden und Teil der Kulturroute „die Malereien des Cinquecento“ sind. Die Region wartet auch mit vielen historisch und künstlerisch sehr bedeutenden Villen auf, wie z.B. der Villa Gaggia in Socchieva, wo am 19. Juli 1943 das letzte Treffen zwischen Hitler und Mussolini stattfand. Dieser Bau ist übrigens auch eine Etappe auf den Kulturrouten „Via Regia“ und „Villen im Voralpenraum“. Ein wunderschöner Weg ins Tal Valmorel (oberhalb der Ortschaft Limana) geleitet Literaturliebhaber zu den Lieblingsplätzen des großen heimischen Schriftstellers Dino Buzzati.
