La rotta Marangu è stata definita la "Coca Cola" e questo ha portato i

potenziali climbers a pensare che sia una via facile per raggiungere la vetta.

Questo è lontano dalla verità per essere onesti! Il fatto che siano necessari

almeno 5 giorni per completarlo non significa che sia più facile di qualsiasi altra

via. L'unica ragione per cui si dice che è più facile è perché è l'unica via del

Kilimangiaro dove si dorme in lodge piuttosto che in tende.. Per evitare qualsiasi

inconveniente il nostro tour prevede una giornata di acclimatamento.

Il percorso inizia dalla sede del parco nel villaggio diMarangu e si dirige ad

ovest versoKibo. Il sentiero passa attraverso la lussureggiante foresta pluviale,la brughiera, fino al deserto alpino e infine la zona artica al culmine.

La stessa rotta si farà a scende reverso il basso.

MARANGU GATE (1,800M/5,905FT) TO MANDARA HUT (2,743M/9,000FT)ELEVATION GAIN: 915 METERS, 3,000 FEETLeave Moshi/Arusha at 8am for Marangu Gate. After completing gateregistration, begin your Kilimanjaro trek. Walk along a narrow trail through therainforest of Kilimanjaro for most of the hike. Eat a picnic lunch at Kisambioni,day one's halfway point. After lunch continue walking through the rainforestuntil reaching Mandara Hut. Relax for the rest of the day or take a short walk toMaundi Crater. The views to the east over Taveta and to the northwest toMawenzi Peak are stunning on a clear day, making the short hike well worth theeffort. The A-frame Mandara Huts can accommodate up to seventy people andconsist of several sleeping huts and a dining area. All of Marangu's huts havebeds withmattresses.

Day 3: KILIMANGIARO DAY 1

MANDARA HUT (2,743M/9,000FT) TO HOROMBO HUT (3,720M/12,200FT)ELEVATION GAIN: 977 METERS, 3,200 FEETAfter breakfast, leave Mandara Hut and Kilimanjaro's forests for Horombo Hut.Most of the day's hike will be through Kilimanjaro's moorland, a rocky landscapewith desert-like plants. Eat a picnic lunch at Kambi ya Taabu before continuing toHorombo Hut. If the weather is clear, enjoy beautiful views of Mawenzi and Kibopeaks. Arrive at Horombo Hut at around 3pm and spend the rest of the afternoonrelaxing. Although extremely busy, the Horombo Huts are considered to be thenicest on Kilimanjaro. The small, A-frame buildings can accommodate up to eightpeople each and provide lodging for hikers ascending, descending andacclimatizing. Horombo can accommodate up to one hundred hikers and manymore porters, cooks and guides.

Day 4: KILIMANGIARO DAY 2

Elevation Gain and Loss: 880 meters, 2,900 feet Day three is an acclimatizationday. We suggest hiking all the way to Mawenzi Hut to allow for maximumacclimatization. The hike will increase your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak, andalso reward you with magnificent views of Kibo. Return to Horombo for a latelunch. Spend the afternoon and evening relaxing at Horombo.

Day 5: KILIMANGIARO DAY 3

HOROMBO HUT (3,720M/12,200FT) TO KIBO HUT (4,750M/15,580FT)ELEVATION GAIN: 1,030 METERS, 3,380 FEET

Leave Horombo Hut after breakfast to hike through the moorland and alpinedesert of Kilimanjaro's upper altitudes. After hiking for about an hour arrive atMaua River, a small mountain stream. AfterMaua, the terrain becomes flatter andthe vegetation begins to disappear. Break for lunch at Middle Red Hill. Afterlunch, continue on a steady incline for another two hours through Kilimanjaro'sSaddle. Although the environment on the way to Kibo is a bleak desert with littlevegetation, you will see many stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. ReachKibo Hut around 3pm to rest and prepare for yourmidnight climb.

Day 6: KILIMANGIARO DAY 4

KIBO HUT (4,750M/15,580FT) TO SUMMIT (5,895M/19,340FT) TOHOROMBO HUT (3,720M/12,200FT)ELEVATION GAIN: 1,145 METERS, 3,760 FEETELEVATION LOSS: 2,175 METERS, 7,140 FEETAfter breakfast, leave Mandara Hut and Kilimanjaro's forests for Horombo Hut.Most of the day's hike will be through Kilimanjaro's moorland, a rocky landscapewith desert-like plants. After breakfast, finish the trek with a descent to Marangu Gate. Your last hike onKilimanjaro is a beautiful one, passing through Kilimanjaro's cloud forest. Watchyour step during the descent, as the trail can be slippery. Our vehicles will bewaiting at Marangu Gate to take you back to Moshi/Arusha. You will be able tobuy t-shirts and sodas at the gate.
