Durante la formazione come specializzando in Ostetricia e Ginecologia, ha sviluppato le competenze per una autonomia clinica di base sia in ambito ostetrico che ginecologico. Nel suddetto periodo, si è dedicato con prevalente interesse all’Oncologia Ginecologica, ai percorsi diagnostico-assistenziali e al trattamento chirurgico e medico delle patologie gineco-oncologiche, con prevalente interesse per il tumore ovarico. 6/2007-6/2009 Ha svolto attività clinica nel percorso formativo della Fellowship in Ginecologia Oncologica presso la Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN (USA). Durante questo periodo ha appreso le principali tecniche chirurgiche (laparotomia, laparoscopia, chirurgia robotica

e laparoscopia) per il trattamento delle neoplasie ginecologiche. Al termine del processo formativo, della fellowship ha acquisito un’indipendenza operatoria nelle principali tecniche chirurgiche. Ha infatti effettuato, prima sotto tutoraggio diretto dei Mentori, e successivamente come primo operatore/tutor più di 70 interventi di citoriduzione primaria per neoplasia ovarica , incluso resezioni del retto-sigma e anastomosi e/o resezioni ileali con anastomosi, confezionamento di stomie derivative, deperitoneizzazione diaframmatica e parietale, omentectomia radicale, splenectomia, linfadenectomia pelvica e aortica, nel contesto della chirurgia citoriduttiva per tumore ovarico. Nel contesto del tumore del corpo uterino, ha acquisito indipendenza nella tecnica di isterectomia laparotomica e vaginale, isterectomia laparoscopica e robotica, e stadiazione linfonodale pelvica e aortica in laparotomia e chirurgia robotica (>50 interventi). Ha inoltre appreso la tecnica per l’isterectomia radicale laparotomica e robotica per il trattamento del tumore del collo dell’utero (>20 interventi), e la tecnica di vulvectomia radicale con dissezione linfonodale inguinale (>5 interventi). Oltre all’attività di sala operatoria, l’attività clinica ha previsto la valutazione preoperatoria e la discussione collegiale delle pazienti per l’indicazione chirurgica, e la successiva gestione postoperatoria delle pazienti nel decorso post-operatorio, con particolare enfasi sulla gestione delle complicanze e sulle indicazioni ai trattamenti successivi (chemioterapia o radioterapia), con i Medici Referenti delle Divisioni di Oncologia Medica e Radioterapia 1/8/2009-oggi Dal termine della fellowship, ha assunto responsabilità cliniche come Vice-Direttore (Dirigente Medico prima con contratto libero professionale e successivamente con contratto a tempo indeterminato) presso l’Istituto Europeo di Oncologia (IRCCS), Divisione di Ginecologia Oncologia, diretta dal Dr. Angelo Maggioni. Durante questo periodo ha svolto più di 850 di chirurgia maggiore come primo operatore, più di 650 come secondo operatore/tutor. Dal 1/11/2017 ha assunto il ruolo di Direttore dell’Unità di Strategie Innovative nel Carcinoma Ovarico.
