Novabone - Dr. Georgios A. KotsakisDr. Kotsakis obtained his DDS degree from the Uni-versity of Athens, Greece. After practicing General Dentistry in private practice and in the Hellenic Navy,

he earned a Certificate in Periodontology and a Ma-sters in Science, both from the University of Minne-sota, MN, USA. Since joining the faculty at the Univer-sity of Washington as a full-time Assistant Professor in Periodontics, Dr. Kotsakis divides his time betwe-en teaching undergraduate and graduate students in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, providing patient care in the School’s intramural practice and conducting clinical research. As part of his service to the professional community he serves as a reviewer to various disciplinary scientific journals including the Journal of Clinical Periodontology and the Journal of Oral Implantology and as an ad-hoc reviewer for pre-stigious interdisciplinary journals, such as the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology and Cytokine, among others. Dr. Kotsakis has authored nearly 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and is a frequent invited international spea-ker on surgical methods in Implant Dentistry.Dr. Kotsakis’ research interests lie in epidemiologic aspects of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and also include preclinical and clinical studies that inve-stigate the efficacy of various biomaterials for alveo-lar bone regeneration in edentulous sites and around dental implants. Dr. Kotsakis’ funded work has been supported both by NIDCR/NIH and by investigator-ini-tiated industry-funded studies.
