Tile: creare è essereTile nasce dall’idea di Pamio Design di creare una lampada, una parete luminosa, uno spazio, partendo da una singola tessera di vetro. L’ispirazione di questo progetto nasce dalla natura, dai suoi infiniti orizzonti: moduli singoli o aggregati che aspirano a diventare paesaggi e dai caratteri del vento. Tile è una lampada in movimento, mutante nelle forme e morbida; i suoi moduli, come le particelle del vento, cambiano direzione e aggregazione e creano o delimitano spazi. Una lampada modulare leggera, trasparente, dinamica, libera da comporre. La singola formella in vetro diventa quindi il modulo base per disegnare superfici luminose, rigide od ondulate, pareti continue di luce e cristallo che ricordano una brillante cascata d’acqua oppure superfici frastagliate e alleggerite dall’alternanza di vuoti e pieni per creare intriganti giochi di luci ed ombre, come in una scultura post moderna.Tile è notevole perché rende libero chi la compone, permette di dar vita alla luce, di riempire gli spazi e arredare con un segno leggero ed elegante. Entra in questo mondo, libera la tua creatività e progetta le forme della tua luce. Tile renderà unici ed originali i tuoi spazi. Questa pubblicazione nasce dal grande interesse riscontrato per Tile. Nelle pagine seguenti verrà spiegato al meglio il sistema nelle sue componenti tecniche e mostrate le installazioni più prestigiose realizzate in tutto il mondo.

Tile: creating is beingTile is the realization of an idea by Pamio Design to create a lamp, a light wall, a space, starting with a single glass tile. Inspiration for this project comes from nature and its endless horizons: single or multiple modules which aspire to become landscapes with the characteristics of wind. Tile is a moving lamp, changing in shape and soft; its modules, like wind particles, change direction and aggregation, creating and delimiting spaces. A lightweight, transparent, dynamic and free-to-compose lamp. The single glass tile thus becomes the basic module for designing luminous, surfaces, rigid or undulated, continuous walls of light and crystal recalling a shiny waterfall or broken up surfaces, lightened by alternating voids and solids to produce intriguing light and shadow effects, like a post-modern sculpture.Tile is remarkable because it frees whosoever composes it, permits giving life to light, to fill spaces and furnish with a lightweight and elegant touch. Enter this world, give your creativity free rein and design the shapes of your light. Tile will make your interiors unique and original. This publication is the upshot of strong interest in Tile. The following pages better explain the technical components of the system and show the most prestigious installations worldwide.

Tile: un modulo, infinitesoluzioni compositiveLe pareti di Tile possono creare o dividere uno spazio, accompagnare un vano scale, riempire grandi spazi, scendere da alti soffitti per attrarre l’attenzione come punto focale all’interno di un ambiente pubblico o privato. La personalizzazione delle soluzioni compositive di Tile è senza limiti, per soddisfare anche i più esigenti e in particolare l’ambito contract: infinite sono le possibilità di creare una lampada modulare, una parete luminosa, una colonna di vetro. Tutto ciò che serve è una sorgente di luce per assemblare il progetto utilizzando i singoli elementi in vetro. Anche senza la luce, Tile ha un aspetto che cattura gli sguardi, divenendo protagonista all’interno di un ambiente. Per la sua estrema flessibilità, Tile dà il meglio di sé nei locali di grandi dimensioni, dove l’architetto o interior designer può progettare intere scenografie di luce. Tile è già stata inserita con successo nelle Business Lounge della compagnia aerea Cathay Pacific ad Hong Kong, Parigi e San Francisco, nell’hotel Plaza di Lubjana, nel Conservatorum Hotel di Amsterdam, nel Tribunale di Voronezh in Russia, in molti uffici, wellness centers, negozi e case private di prestigio nel mondo. Tile ha una struttura portante in metallo con copertura in estruso di alluminio lucidato brillantato, elettrificata internamente. Gli elementi sono in vetro cristallino stampato, disponibili trasparenti e colorati nelle varianti ambra, acqua marina, verde e ametista. Le singole formelle sono sorrette da cavi in acciaio inox e restano sospese grazie ai ferma vetro in policarbonato.

Tile: one module, endless compositional solutionsTile walls can create or split up an interior, accompany a staircase, fill in large spaces, and drop from high ceilings to attract attention as a focal point inside public or private premises. The personalization of Tile’s compositional solutions is without limits, to cater to the demands of even the most discerning customers, especially in the contract field. Endless possibilities exist of creating a modular lamp, a light wall, a glass column. All that is needed is a light source to assemble the project, using the single glass elements. Even without light, Tile is always appealing and plays a lead role inside any environment. Thanks to its great flexibility, Tile literally “lets its light shine” in large premises, where the architect or interior designer can design complete light settings. Tile has already been successfully installed in the Business Lounges of the Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong, Paris and San Francisco, in the hotel Plaza in Ljubljana, in the Conservatorum Hotel of Amsterdam, in the Law Court of Voronezh in Russia, and in many offices, wellness centers, shops and prestigious private homes worldwide. Tile has a metal supporting structure with covering in brightly polished extruded aluminium, wired internally. The elements are made of patterned crystal-glass, either clear or coloured in amber, aquamarine, green and amethyst variations. The single tiles are supported by stainless-steel cables and remain suspended thanks to the polycarbonate glass fasteners.

The Wing

The Wing è un’ambizioso progetto illuminotecnico realizzato interamente su misura dalla Fabbian Illuminazione. Parliamo di una vera e propria scultura di vetro e luce disegnata dal celebre studio di architettura Norman Foster + Partners di Londra e posizionata all’interno dell’aeroporto di Hong Kong, nella vip lounge della compagnia aerea Cathay Pacific. The Wing è un concentrato di tecnologia ed illuminazione, precisione e cura del dettaglio completamente made in Italy.La lampada The Wing è formata da 30 lame di vetro extrachiaro allestite su una lunghezza di 6 metri e slanciate per 3,2 metri di altezza. Sono decorate da cesellature che, illuminate dalle sorgenti led nascoste nella base, creano un effetto mozzafiato. Le lame sono state realizzate con quattro diverse finiture, che si distinguono per il taglio del vetro, lo spessore, l’inclinazione e il grado di satinatura applicato. Tutti i dettagli sono stati ben studiati per evitare fenomeni di rifrazione o diminuzione della luce.La lampada pesa 8500 kg: è un enorme carico concentrato su un pavimento aeroportuale che ha un limite di peso e di resistenza. Si è dovuto studiare come fare una base che sostenesse un peso ragguardevole, che contenesse i dispositivi di illuminazione, che permettesse di intervenire agevolmente e rapidamente per la loro manutenzione e fosse facile da trasportare, assicurando, oltretutto, anche un ottimo risultato estetico.

The Wing is an ambitious, fully customised technical lighting project manufactured by Fabbian Illuminazione. It is a true sculpture of glass and light, designed by the famous architectural studio Norman Foster + Partners of London, installed inside the Hong Kong Airport, in the VIP lounge of the Cathay Pacific airline.The Wing is a concentrate of technology and lighting, precision and attention to detail, completely made in Italy. The Wing is a lamp made up by 30 blades of extra clear glass arranged on a length of 6 metres. Each blade is 3,2 metres high and decorated with engravings which, illuminated by the LED sources hidden in the base, create a breathtaking effect. The blades were manufactured with four different finishes, which characterize for cut, thickness, inclination of the glass and intensity of the satin effect applied. All the details were studied carefully to avoid any refraction or reduction of the light.The lamp weighs 8,500 kg: an enormous load that bears upon an airport floor subject to weight and resistance restrictions. Studies had to be performed to determine how to create a base that would support such a considerable weight, contain the lighting devices and allow them to be easily and quickly accessible for the normal maintenance work. It also had to be easy to transport and, what’s more, aesthetically stunning.

Si tratta di elementi completamente autonomi gli uni dagli altri, che racchiudono al loro interno: cavi, impiantistica e corpi illuminanti. Se qualcosa si rompe, sarà sufficiente sostituire il singolo pezzo del carrello. La base è completamente nascosta a filo pavimento ed è ricoperta, all’interno, da una lastra in alluminio lucido scuro, per ottenere un elegante effetto finale che armonizza con la pavimentazione in marmo nero di Carrara.La luce: l’obiettivo era ottenere una fascio verticale continuo di luce, a due condizioni: il fascio doveva provenire dal basso e doveva illuminare tutta la la lama di vetro, senza investire direttamente la sommità della struttura e senza oltrepassarla. Si è pensato quindi ad un sistema di illuminazione a led contenuto nei carrelli che scorrono nel vano tecnico. Ai piedi di ogni lama sono stati installati 5 led, per una potenza di 15W totali. Abbiamo optato per led ad alta efficienza (Cree) con una lente ad angolo molto stretto e una tonalità colore di 5700K (tendenzialmente fredda). Il driver utilizzato ha la possibilità di dimmerare la luce da 0-100%, a seconda delle esigenze ambientali. La lampada è racchiusa da una struttura esterna, formata interamente da lastre in vetro stratificato e fissate alla base di acciaio. I vetri sono stati studiati per reggere a pressioni e forti impatti frontali, mantenendo tuttavia una struttura esile.Possiamo tranquillamente affermare che Fabbian non ha costruito solo una lampada, ma un oggetto di design. Una maestosa struttura di cristallo, impreziosita da un fascio di luce che ne esalta la trasparenza e la lucentezza.

Le lame di vetro sono state fissate alla base mediante un sistema a pressione che garantisce all’intera struttura stabilità e resistenza, senza usare bulloni né viti, così da annullare rifrazioni nel fascio continuo di luce. Oltre a sostenere l’intera opera, la base ospita al suo interno tutti gli impianti di illuminazione, costituiti da tanti piccoli elementi che devono poter essere sostituiti, regolati o aggiornati.Per ottenere ciò, è stato sviluppato un esclusivo sistema di 15 carrelli modulari, che scorrono al suo interno, dove sono state alloggiate anche 2 ventole di raffreddamento per mantenere sempre una temperatura adeguata di funzionamento.

The system is composed of a series of independent elements containing: cables, plant components and lighting elements. If something breaks, the single faulty piece can be easily replaced. The base is completely hidden flush floor and is covered by a sheet of dark shiny aluminium, to obtain a final elegant effect that blends with the black Carrara marble floor.The light: the purpose was to obtain a continuous vertical light beam, on two conditions: it had to come from downward and had to illuminate the entire glass blade, without directly crossing the top of the structure or going beyond it. Therefore the idea was to create a LED lighting system contained in the trucks running inside the technical compartment. 5 LED lights were installed at the foot of each blade, for a total power of 15W. We opted for the highly efficient Cree leds with a very tight angle and a colour tone of 5700K (cool white). The driver used allows to adjust the luminous intensity from 0-100%, depending on the requirements of the environment. The lamp is protected by an external structure, formed entirely by laminated glass sheets and secured to the steel base. The glass was designed to withstand high pressure and strong frontal impacts, despite its light structure.We can safely say that Fabbian has not merely built a lamp, but a design object. A grandiose crystal structure, enhanced by a beam of light that exalts its transparency and brilliance.

The glass blades were secured to the base using a pressure system that guarantees stability and resistance for the whole installation, without using bolts or screws, and prevents refractions in the continuous beam of light. In addition, to supporting the entire work, the base houses all the lighting equipments, composed of many small elements, that will require replacement, adjustment or be updated at some later stage. To get such result, an exclusive system of 15 modular trucks, running inside the base, was developed. The base also hosts 2 cooling fans, which constantly maintain an adequate temperature.
