Cristal was established in 1994 and specialised in decorative glass right from the start. Technical developments and changing markets gradually concentrated production in the fi eld of decorative glass doors, in which Cristal tried out combined processing techniques to produce various types of stratifi ed and certifi ed safety glass. The production methods that Cristal has developed are historically linked to those of Gothic glass. Though this once required lead for assembly, today Cristal uses a technique based on stratifi cation instead. This clever idea soon led to the development of an entire family of decorative products made by combining and assembling prestige glass types, sanded effect glass, and glass with brush painted pictorial designs. Thanks to the technique of stratifi cation, the décor is enclosed between two panes of glass, and remains fresh over time precisely because it is isolated from the atmosphere and protected against attack by the chemical products typically used in domestic cleaning.Collaboration with Marcello Gennari, stemming from Cristal’s determination to become market leader in decorative glass doors, began in 2004.The result has been a series of collections developing new decorative directions, applying the technique of stratifi cation to ever more unusual and

Cristal nasce nel 1994 come azienda vetraria orientando fin dall’inizio la propria

identità alle vetrate decorative. L’evoluzione tecnologica e gli sviluppi di mercato,

indirizzano successivamente la produzione al settore delle porte in vetro decorato,

per il quale l’azienda sperimenta tecniche di lavorazione combinate, realizzando

diversi tipi di vetrate stratificate e certificate di sicurezza.

Le metodologie sviluppate sono storicamente collegate alla lavorazione della

vetrata gotica, un tempo legata a piombo, oggi assemblata da Cristal con la tecnica

della stratifica. Da questa ispirazione, trovano immediato sviluppo tutta una serie

di sperimentazioni decorative prodotte dalla combinazione e dall’assemblaggio

di vetri pregiati, di altri ad effetto sabbiato o di matrice pittorica con esecuzione

di disegni a pennello. Grazie alla stratifica, il decoro realizzato esclusivamente

all’interno delle due lastre di vetro, si mantiene integro nel tempo perché isolato

dagli agenti atmosferici e protetto dai prodotti chimici normalmente usati per

la pulizia. La collaborazione con Marcello Gennari, derivata dal preciso intento

produzione Cristal, dopo diversi anni di verifiche e sperimentazioni, prosegue

leader di porte in vetro decorato. Di qui lo sviluppo di tutta una serie di soluzioni

tecniche innovative che vanno dal vetro stratificato, a quello stratificato/

temperato e al vetro temperato per realizzare porte con telaio in legno, alluminio

o anche senza telaio. L’ultima nata, è l’innovativa porta cieca in vetro laccato

perfettamente bifacciale, che utilizza una serie di laccature messe a punto per

garantire una perfetta coprenza. Questa porta abbina la brillantezza del vetro alla

inalterabilità dei colori, resistenza al graffio e agli agenti chimici. E’ un’autentica

I prodotti di Cristal sono realizzabili su misura e personalizzabili per la possibilità d’intercambiare vetri e colori nella composizione delle vetrate o nei decori eseguiti a mano e dipinti a pennello.Tutte le vatrate sono realizzate con la tecnica della STRATIFICAZIONE accoppiando lastre di vetro con l’interposizione di un FILM che, garantendo una perfetta aderenza tra i vari componenti, mantiene la vetrata INALTERATA nel tempo. Tutto ciò è dovuto al ciclo di lavorazione SOTTOVUOTO e alla COTTURA dell’assemblato ad alte temperature. Si ottiene in questo modo un prodotto sicuro che rende impossibili gli infortuni da taglio. Inoltre i preziosi decori delle porte Cristal, sono posti all’interno dei due vetri e quindi inattaccabili dagli agenti per rimanare sempre belli nel tempo.

Cristal products can be made to measure and even personalised by interchanging glass types and colours within the same composition and in hand made and hand painted decors.All glass panels are formed using the technique of STRATIFICATION, coupling two panes with a FILM in between. This not only ensures perfect adhesion between the component parts, but also keeps the glass INALTERABLE over time. Assembly is achieved in a VACUUM cycle followed by high temperature FIRING of the assembled panels. This technique gives a safe product that totally eliminates the risk of shattering. The precious decorations on Cristal doors are located between the two panes of glass where they are totally immune to chemical attack, and therefore keep their original beauty for many years to come.

Quando Cristal mi propose questa co l laboraz ione , acce t ta i con entusiasmo percependo lo slancio istintivo dell’Azienda verso la sperimentazione.

Le potenzialità espresse dal vetro costituivano di per sé una stimolante sfida; materia che stava di fatto vivendo il suo consolidarsi a tutti i livelli nell’arredamento e il definitivo apprezzamento del pubblico.

Altra positiva condizione era lo stato di fermento del settore. Era iniziato un processo di rinnovamento nell’ambito delle porte, che cresceva di pari passo all’esigenza di circondarsi di decorazione, realtà già riscontrabile nei materiali da rivestimento e nella moda.

Proprio in questi due settori inizia la mia indagine, alla ricerca di un valore comune tra le tendenze di mercato e la mia idea del bello. Ho così messo a fuoco una serie di materie naturali dalla sorprendente capacità espressiva e scoperto che mescolate alle nuove decorazioni o affiancate alla pregiata tecnica della vetrata, nella quale Cristal vanta un consolidato successo, rivelavano un affascinante sodalizio con il vetro.

La s t r e t t a co l l ab o r az io n e e l’affiatamento creati con l’Azienda, hanno permesso di realizzare una collezione ben articolata, allineata al prodotto Cristal e allo stile che ostinatamente cercavo.

When Cristal asked me to work with them, seeing how oriented they were towards new horizons in design, I was eager to accept.

The potential offered by glass already repre-sented a stimulating challenge to me. As a material, glass is gaining in popularity in all areas of interior design and is finally winning over an appreciative public.

Another positive consideration was the ferment in which the entire sector finds itself. Renewal had already begun in the field of door design, and was spreading rapidly in line with the growing call for a more decora-tive environment. The effects of this renewal were already visible in the fields of floor and wall coverings and fashion.

It was in these two areas that I began my search for common ground between market trends and my own ideal of beauty.

I then went on to focus on a series of natural materials, all with a surprising capacity for expression, and discovered that they can form fascinating partnerships with glass. This was especially true if they were com-bined with new designs or prestigious glass craftsmanship, in which Cristal is already a market leader.

Close collaboration with the company and a genuine team spirit have since allowed me to develop a well structured collection, in keeping with the look of Cristal products and true to the style I was so determined to find.
