Come Presidente di FederlegnoArredo, non mi sono mai perso un’edizione del SaloneSatellite.L’ho sempre visitato, inizialmente per soddisfare la mia innata curiosità verso il nuovo – sia del format della manifestazione stessa che 18 anni fa è stata la prima a occuparsi di giovani, sia dei prototipi presentati caratterizzati da qualità e ricerca. Poi negli anni vi sono puntualmente tornato per ritrovare l’innovazione delle proposte offerte, riflesso della inesauribile fonte creativa dei giovani. E ora anche nel mio ruolo di Presidente del Salone del Mobile.Milano, sono contento di poter dedicarmi in prima persona a questi under 35, perché il SaloneSatellite è un punto di attrazione e, al tempo stesso, un valido riferimento per quei ragazzi che hanno il desiderio di dedicarsi alla professione di designer, costruendoci intorno una vita, contribuendo così in modo attivo e creativo al nostro settore e al futuro delle nostre imprese. 700 ragazzi a cui desidero augurare e offrire il meglio, spronandoli a credere nelle loro potenzialità propositive. Sono loro il nostro futuro, di uomini e di imprenditori. Sono loro il simbolo della fattibilità di una idea fattasi progetto. As President of FederlegnoArredo, I’ve never missed an edition of the SaloneSatellite. I’ve been attending since the very beginning, initially to satisfy my innate curiosity for innovation - both the format of the event itself, which 18 years ago was the first to showcase young designers, and the prototypes presented, all of them characterized by quality and intelligence. Over the years, I have faithfully returned to discover the latest demonstrations of the fact that young people are an inexhaustible source of creativity.Now, in my role as President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, I’m pleased to be able to devote myself personally to the under-35 class of designers, because the SaloneSatellite is not only a great drawing card, but also a valuable point of reference for young people who want to dedicate themselves to the design profession and build a life around it, thereby contributing actively and creatively to our industry and to the future of our companies. As such, I would like to wish and offer all the best to our 700 young participants, and encourage them to believe in their potential. E mentre nel mondo sta succedendo di tutto, cose belle e cose tristi, il nostro SaloneSatellite diventa maggiorenne. Una microstoria felice, un’isoladi creatività, passione, talento che non ha mai smessodi dare frutti. Il SaloneSatellite diventa grande conun pedigree di tutto rispetto, avendo visto passare oltre 10.000 giovani, di cui molti ormai designer acclamatie internazionalmente conosciuti – dagli italiani Tomaso Nani, Francesca Lanzavecchia e i fratelli di Studio Adriano, ai giapponesi Nendo e Yoy, al tedesco Sebastian Herkner, allo studio Big Game (Augustin Scott de Martinville, Elric Petit e Grégoire Jeanmonod), allo svedese Johan Lindstén, al norvegese Daniel Rybakken, all’americana Nao Tamura, all’indiano Avinash Shende, all’argentino Federico Churba e al brasiliano Pedro Paulo Franco, solo per citarne alcuni – oltre a 270 scuole internazionali di design tra le più prestigiose. Se il Salone del Mobile sarà una prova generale dell’Expo nell’accoglienza in città di centinaia di visitatori da tutto il mondo, il SaloneSatellite lo sarà nel tema “Pianeta vita” che prende forma nell’allestimento e nei 4 progetti speciali realizzati per l’occasione da designer già presenti al SaloneSatellite e una scuola internazionale. Benvenuti a tutti, in particolare ai giovani designer partecipanti di tutto il mondo (sempre rigorosamente selezionati da un prestigioso Comitato di Selezione), più numerosi del solito, con gli asiatici e i giapponesi al primo posto per numero di presenze, oltre agli italiani! /

While so many things are happening around the world, some positive and others less so, our SaloneSatellite has quietly reached adulthood. A felicitous micro-history, an island of creativity, passion and talent that has never stopped bearing fruit. SaloneSatellite comes of age with a respectable pedigree, having seen the participation of more than 10,000 young people, many of whom are have since become internationally acclaimed designers from every corner of the planet - to name just a few, Tommaso Nani, Francesca Lanzavecchia and the brothers of Adriano Studio (Italy), Nendo and Yoy (Japan), Sebastian Herkner (Germany), the pan-European studio Big Game (Augustin Scott de Martinville, Elric Petit and Grégoire Jeanmonod), Johan Lindstén (Sweden), Daniel Rybakken (Norway), Nao Tamura (USA), Avinash Shende (India), Federico Churba (Argentina) and Pedro Paulo Franco (Brazil) - as well as 270 of the world’s most prestigious design schools. While the Salone del Mobile can be seen as a logistical dress rehearsal for Expo 2015 in welcoming thousands of international visitors to Milan, SaloneSatellite will do so conceptually with this year’s theme Life Planet, featuring an installation and four special projects by designers already present at SaloneSatellite and an international design school.So, my warmest welcome to welcome everyone, especially all the young designers from around the world (rigorously chosen, as always, by an illustrious Selection Committee), more numerous than usual this year, with Asians overtaking the Italians for the top spot in number of participants! /

FRANCESCO FACCIN crea “HoneyFactory”, un luogo per produrre miele e anche luogo di informazione urbana riguardo l’attualissima e antichissima tecnica dell’allevamento di api (Piazza 2). CATERINA TIAZZOLDI propone “Nesting Nature”, una zona relax fatta di foglie di palma, riflesso di un intreccio di relazioni fra ecosistemi del Parco Nazionale di Everglades in Florida (Piazza 3). L’ART CENTER COLLEGE OF DESIGN DI PASADENA (USA) presenta “The Five Elements, the garden abstracted” (I cinque elementi, il giardino astratto) (Piazza 4).

Il tema di questa 18a edizione del SaloneSatellite è “Pianeta vita” e prende forma nell’allestimento e nei progetti speciali realizzati per l’occasione da 3 designer e una scuola internazionale.

UMZIKIMGRAVITY, THE HIDDEN INGREDIENT

Nessuno può vedere la Gravità.Dimentichiamo che siamo circondati da Gravità.Dimentichiamo che noi stessi siamo Gravità.

È evidente che la gravità è la forza che tiene tutto insieme e che definisce semplicemente l’esistenzadi ogni cosa all’interno del mondo in cui viviamo.

Come si sa, ogni singolo istante è fonte di gravità e la rende molto speciale, ma allo stesso tempo impercettibile. Perciò si finisce per dimenticareche può essere usata per progettare, traendone anche grande vantaggio.

UMZIKIM progetta con e/o usando l’ambiente, anziché ignorarlo. Uno dei protagonisti nascosti dell’ambiente è la gravità. La sua presenza è così leggera ma allo stesso tempo innegabilmente forte. Fino ad ora nella collezione di UMZIKIM la gravità veniva ritratta attraverso calcoli matematici. Nella collezione “Gravity”, invece,è semplicemente se stessa, intonsa.

Questa collezione di arredi definisce e ridefinisceil ruolo di gravità nell’ambiente. È dinamicae si adatta al cambiamento istantaneamente.Nella collezione la luce posta al centro è

l’immagine metaforica della gravità.La luce non è visibile di per sé ma si può vederne la fonte. Questo è come noi vediamo la gravità,la definizione di ogni spazio.UMZIKIM

It is evident that gravity is the power that holds everything together, and it simply defines the existence of everything within the world we live in.

As we know, every single element is the source of gravity. It makes gravity so special but unnoticeable at the same time. Therefore,we end up forgetting that we can designwith it and take great advantage too.

UMZIKIM designs with and/or using the environment, instead of ignoring it. One of the hidden protagonist in our environment is gravity. Its existence is so subtle yet so undeniably strong. Till now gravity was portrayed through mathematical calculations in UMZIKIM’s collection. But in this collection Gravity

is purely itself, untouched.This furniture collection defines & redefinesthe role of gravity within our environment.It is dynamic and adapts to change instantly.In this collection the lighting at the center isthe metaphorical image of gravity. You don’t see the lighting itself but you can see the source of the light. This is how we now see gravity, defining each space.

“HoneyFactory” è un luogo per produrre miele – contiene infatti un’arnia tradizionale – e per conservare l’attrezzatura necessaria alla sua lavorazione, ma soprattutto è un punto di informazione urbana riguardo l’attualissima e antichissima tematica dell’allevamento di api. Protegge l’arnia dalle intemperie mantenendo la temperatura costante e una ventilazione ottimale. Il grande “camino”, segno forte del progetto, è utile ad allontanare la zona di entrata delle api da bambini e possibili atti di vandalismo, infatti il “predellino di volo” solitamente collocato a pochi centimetri da terra, si trova a un’altezza di 4,50 mt. Un vetro, inoltre, protegge l’arnia permettendo di osservare da molto vicino i movimenti codificati e la misteriosa “danza delle api”. Nelle nostre città “HoneyFactory” svolge prima di tutto una funzione didattica permettendo di avvicinarsi al mondo complesso e affascinante di questi insetti, osservarli, ascoltarne il ronzio. Le api attraverso un processo di trasformazione della materia creano un alimento

ricchissimo, completo e sostenibile che, senza rielaborazioni, dal produttore arriva direttamente al consumatore. Un alveare con il suo sciameha un’area di “bottinamento” fino a un raggio di 3 km, distanza assolutamente compatibile con un parco urbano medio delle nostre città. Può diventare un vero e proprio centro per la divulgazione della cultura dell’alimentazione sostenibile attraverso corsi, iniziative e dimostrazioni al pubblico aiutando a superare ritrosie e pregiudizi nei confronti di un insetto importantissimo per il mantenimento della biodiversità. “HoneyFactory” parla anche di un nuovo ruolo del designer che sempre di più ha a che fare con una committenza diversissima dall’imprenditore delle tradizionali categorie e si affaccia invece su territori di progetto nuovi, contemporanei, poco esplorati.

Grazie alla collaborazione di Mauro Veca, apicoltore professionista e imprenditore agricolo urbano, ho potuto lavorare partendo da informazioni precise e attendibili, condizione

fondamentale per ottenere un progetto sperimentale ma scientificamente corretto.Grazie al suo contributo sarà possibile, dopola presentazione al SaloneSatellite 2015, vedere “HoneyFactory” in attività presso il giardinodella Triennale di Milano durante i mesi di Expo.

Natura e ambiente sono due temi cari aRiva 1920 che da sempre, attraverso la produzione di arredi a basso impatto ambientale, si prodigain favore della salvaguardia dell’ecosistema.Questa la motivazione che ha spinto l’azienda a sposare questo progetto che segna un ritorno alle origini, alla riscoperta del mondo naturale e animale. “HoneyFactory” esplora una nuova frontiera del design a servizio della natura.

“HoneyFactory” is a spot for producing honey, which contains the traditional beehives, to preserve the necessary equipment of its processing. But most of all, it’s an urban information point regarding the ancient and current bee keeping culture. It protects the hives from bad weather while keeping a constant temperature and optimal ventilation. The big “chimney” which is a clear sign of the project, helps to keeps the entrance of bees far possible from children and possible vandalism moves, and actually the so-called “flight step” is usually placed a few centimeters from the ground, but in this case it’s 4.5 meters high. Furthermore, a glass door protects the beehives meanwhile still allows an observation from a very close distance of the encoded movements and the mysterious “bee dancing”.

“HoneyFactory” will play a role of educating and allowing citizens to approach a complex and fascinating world of insects, observing them, listening to the bee buzz. Through a processing of materials, bees create a rich, comprehensive

and sustainable food without reworking, comes directly from the producer to the consumer.A hive with its swarm has an area of “foraging” up to a radius of 3 km, a distance completely compatible with a general urban park in our cities. It could be an actual center of the dissemination of food-sustainability culture, by giving courses, initiatives and demonstrations to the public, helping them to overcome the reluctance and prejudice against a very important insect for maintaining the biodiversity. “HoneyFactory” is also about the new role of designer, instead of collaborating with entrepreneurs of a traditional category, who now has much more to do with a very different client, working in new fields which are contemporary and less explored.

Thanks to the collaboration with Mauro Veca, the professional beekeeper and urban farmer, I was able to work starting from accurate and reliable information, which is a key condition for an experimental project but scientifically correct.

After the presentation at the SaloneSatellite 2015, “HoneyFactory” will be put in use in the garden of Triennale di Milano for six months during Expo.Nature and environment are two themes dear to Riva 1920, which has always worked toward safeguarding the ecosystem through the production of furniture with a low environmental impact. This is the inspiration behind the company’s decision to combine this project, which marks a return to its origins, with a rediscovery of the natural and animal world. “HoneyFactory” explores a new frontier of design at the service of nature.

L’installazione “Nesting Nature” risponde al tema di Expo 2015 “Nutrire il pianeta, Energia per la Vita” attraverso la narrazione dell’esperienza dell’architetto Caterina Tiazzoldi come Artista in Residenza nel Parco Nazionale di Everglades situato in Florida negli Stati Uniti d’America.“Nesting Nature” disegna uno spazio sinuoso in cui la trame vegetali, costituite da foglie-superfici elastiche, raccolgono le dimensioni naturali dell’ambiente. Una sequenza di spazi aperti e chiusi, vegetali e artificiali che filtrano la luce e dove le ombre si confondono con la materia, conducono il visitatore nello spaziocome all’interno di una palude. L´installazioneè realizzata con rotaie di legno per supportareuna struttura elastica sospesa che reagisceal peso delle piante.Situato a poche miglia da Miami, una delle metropoli in maggiore espansione degli Stati Uniti, il parco delle Everglades è uno degli

ambienti più delicati del nostro pianeta. Costituito da nove diversi ecosistemi – dalla barriera corallina alla foresta di mangrovie – il parco ospita innumerevoli specie animali e vegetali fra cui alligatori, coccodrilli, squali, lamantini e uccelli di ogni tipo. Ognuna di esse è in competizione per il bene più prezioso: l’acqua.“Nesting Nature” riflette un intreccio di relazioni fra gli ecosistemi dell’ Everglades: per realizzare l’installazione è stato necessario capire come conciliare le necessità dell’uomo con quelledel parco. Il mese trascorso fra ranger, scienziati, animali e visitatori, viaggiando attraversole foreste di mangrovie, ha permessodi capire come l’installazione potesse essere realizzata contribuendo positivamente all’ecosistema del parco.Il progetto è diventato un momento di scambio: un gruppo di ragazzi volontari, per esempio, ha contribuito a raccogliere le foglie di palma

in un’area destinata allo sfoltimento della vegetazione per lasciare spazio alle specie vegetali in estinzione. Realizzata con una struttura flessibile, l’installazione riflette la vibrante fragilità dell’equilibrio che unisce uomo e natura.Per l’edizione 2015 del SaloneSatellite, grazie all’ambiente creato dalle sedute del giovane designer Andrea Borgogni – menzione speciale SaloneSatellite 2014 – “Nesting Nature” si trasforma in un “Cabinet à Penser” in cuii visitatori possono rallentare, fermarsi, riposare e, per un breve istante, allontanarsi dall’eccitante frenesia del mondo del design.

“Nesting Nature” is one of the honor guest installations at the SaloneSatellite 2015. A project responding to the theme of Expo 2015 “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” through the narration of the architect Caterina Tiazzoldi month long experience as Artist in Residence in Everglades National Park located in Florida in USA.“Nesting Nature” draws a sinuous space bounded by vegetal and elastic wall textures hiding and revealing the space fluidly. Sequences of open and closed spaces and textures, fluidly navigates the public as alligators in a glades of natural and artificial atmosphere where light and shadows mingle with matter.The installation is realized with a combination of wooden rails to support an elastic structure that accommodates the plants’ weight. The installation structure’s flexibility reflects the vibrant and fragile balance between man and nature.Located a few miles from Miami – one of the

fastest growing cities in the United States, the Everglades is one of the most delicate environments of our planet. Consisting of nine different ecosystems – from the reef to the forest of Mangroves – Everglades is home to countless plant and animal species including alligators, crocodiles, sharks, manatees, and birds of all kinds. Each of them is competing for the most valuable asset: water.“Nesting Nature” reflects a web of relationships between Everglades’ ecosystems: the installation was planned and performed during the month long residency, where it was necessary to understand how to balance human needs with those of the park. The month elapsed between park rangers, scientists, animals and visitors, and traveling through mangrove forests enabling the architect to understand how the installation could positively contribute to the park’s ecosystem.The project became a moment of communal

exchange: a group of young volunteers, for example, has helped gather palm leaves in an area devoted to make way for plant species under extinction.For the SaloneSatellite 2015 edition and, thanks to the environment created by the chairs of the young designer Andrea Borgogni – special mention SaloneSatellite 2014 – “Nesting Nature” becomes a “Cabinet à Penser” where visitors can slow down, pause, rest and, for a brief moment, break away from the exciting bustle of the design world experience.

Terra: o Chi: questo aspetto dell’installazione ci ancora alla fisicità dello spazio.Acqua: o Sui: questo aspetto rappresenta la realtà fluida, scorrevole e senza forma del mondo.Fuoco: o Ka: questo aspetto celebra la potenzialità dello spirito umano.Vento: o Fu: questo elemento invita alla conoscenza condivisa e all’esperienza dello spazio. Cielo: o Ku: questo aspetto del progetto vedrà gli ospiti condividere un aspetto interattivo dell’installazione.

Il nostro progetto è l’astrazione di un giardino giapponese, un luogo-santuario per il riposo e la contemplazione. Il punto cardine di questa installazione è vedere il pubblico entrare ed arrivare a un sentiero che conduce ciascun visitatore a una personale e unica veduta dello spazio tra gli oggetti, il cosiddetto “ma”, portandolo a riflettere sulla relazione antropo-cosmica con il mondo e le risorse naturali.I visitatori possono entrare e scoprire l’installazione ma sono anche incoraggiati a indugiare per un momento in una serena reinterpretazione del giardino.Nostra intenzione è creare un nuovo livello

attraverso corsi di Studio transdisciplinare, studi internazionali all’estero e classi di Progetti sponsorizzati con aziende, gruppi od organizzazioni leader del settore. Gli studenti affrontano progetti di design sponsorizzati per conto di organizzazioni umanitarie internazionali. Tutto ciò offre una ricca e completa esperienza educativa a quegli studenti che intendono diventare influenti e importanti progettisti dello spazio.

Re-interpreting our symbiosis with our natural resources. Our design embraces the notion of Eastern philosophy, and has us contemplating our relationship to the five elements:

Earth: or Chi: this aspect of the installationwill ground us in the physicality of the space.Water: or Sui: this aspect represents the fluid, flowing, formless things in the world.Fire: or Ka: this aspect will celebratethe potentiality of the human spirit.Wind: or Fu: this element will encourage the shared knowledge and experience of space.Sky: or Ku: this aspect of the design will have guests sharing in a creative interactive aspect to the installation

Our design is an abstraction of a Japanese garden, a sanctuary place for rest and contemplation.The foremost element of this installation is having the audience enter and come upon a path that leads one to their own unique view on the space between objects, also known as “ma” and has one reflecting on our anthropo-cosmic relationship with the world and our natural resources. Guests can enter and discover the exhibit, but are also encouraged to linger for a while in a serene re-interpretation of the garden. It is our intention to create a new level of awareness amongst our visitors and have them asking themselves how they can cultivate a stronger symbiosis with our natural resources.

Can design take careof the Planet?Designers are not going to save the world and those who claim that they can are charlatans! On the other hand, they can contribute to the defence of the planet by creating products of quality that last a long time or by favouring the use of recycled materials. Moreover, designers are just one link in the long chain of production. In order for their work to reduce the drain on the planet’s resources, they have to collaborate with engineers who have specialized knowledge of materials and do so on behalf of companies which show a responsibility towards nature in their strategy. But respecting the world also – and perhaps above all – means knowing how to appreciate the best things and taking delight in everything that it offers us. /

In questo senso, siamo tutti responsabili: le società occidentali che hanno dato il via alla crescita economica grazie alla grande industria (sfruttando i Paesi emergenti), la Cina, con le sue inquinanti, gigantesche città industriali, il mondo della moda che ha prodotto nel povero Bangladesh e così via. Tutti questi soggetti sono tenuti non solo a sperimentare nuove tecnologie eco-sostenibili ma a esportare l’innovazione. Solo quando le grandi industrie del mondo cambieranno atteggiamento si potrà evitare il collasso. /

Eco-design: innovation and technology can be of some help?So to say: It’s High Noon to protect the planet … “Green” technology should get a worldwide topic to reduce pollution mostly produced by the growth of industries and yesterday’s technology. As the rich western societies started the economic growth by the big industry (and in exploiting emerging countries; China with polluting enormous industrial cities, european fashion made in poor Bangladesh and so on) they are responsible to invent eco-driven technology and design; and to export these innovations. Only when most of the world’s industrial behaviour changes we may avoid the collapse. /

Il SaloneSatellite Award segna la sua 6a edizione con l’adesione entusiasta di 102 designer. Osservare i loro progetti è come guardare la creatività attraverso un caleidoscopio: linguaggi, concetti e idee si propagano attraverso i materiali più nuovi e quelli più tradizionali fino a spingersi a brevettarne di nuovi. Interrogano il presente seminando una grande volontà di cambiamento. Soluzioni che inglobano un pensiero alla salvaguardia del pianeta, come un elemento progettuale scontato. Il resto è forma pura ed essenziale, eterea e poetica, che il più delle volte rimanda alla cultura del Paese di origine di ognuno. Una geografia che in occasione degli appuntamenti biennali con Euroluce e Workplace3.0/SaloneUfficio, è fatta soprattutto di luce e con il pensiero alle necessità della vita collettiva. Singolarmente, e nell’insieme, generano nuove opportunità nel confronto con gli imprenditori presenti al Salone del Mobile. Ricordando che il domani si fa nell’oggi./

The SaloneSatellite Award reaches its 6th edition with the enthusiastic participation of 102 designers. Seeing their projects is like watching creativity through a kaleidoscope: languages, concepts and ideas shift and multiply through the most innovative and the most traditional materials, in some cases patenting entirely new ones. They interrogate the present, though there is a clear desire for change, insofar as they share a concern for safeguarding the planet, by now a given in contemporary design. The rest is pure and essential form, ethereal and poetic, which in most cases refers to the culture of each designer’s country of origin. A geography which, on the occasion of the biennial Euroluce and Workplace3.0/SaloneUfficio exhibitions, consists above all in attentive interpretations of the light, with a nod to the necessity of collective life. Taken singly and together, they generate new opportunities for the manufacturers participating in the Salone del Mobile./

Inspired on the typical Spanish fans, it is a portable screen designed to create temporary or permanent divisions. The box can be hang on a wall or left on a flat surface and opened until 180°.

In acciaio inox, sono stati tagliati, curvati e saldati a mano dall’ottantacinquenne stagnino Nino Ciminna, nella più antica bottega artigianale di via Calderai, la storica strada palermitana. Here, three of the twelve hanging lamps from the Officine Calderai colletion. Made with stainless steel, they are cut, bent and welded by hand by 85-year-old tinsmith Nino Ciminna, in the oldest artisan workshop on Palermo’s historic Via Calderai.

The “Alp Chair” accommodates the changing work styles of the modern office. It allows individuals to work alone or as group while is a solution for changing technological needs.

The project aims to blur the line between the design and art, as well as the utilitarian and ornate. The ambiguous possibility of object is also a way to embody the versatile function.

With its dynamic and sensuous quality and detailing the “Antilope” coffee table in lasting oiled oak with brass joints exemplify the search for the delicate spatial relation between furniture and architecture opening up new ways to engage.

8 APPEAR LIGHTINGNBT.STUDIO, TAIWAN (D17)“Appear” è di materiale riciclato raccolto dai prodotti tecnologici. La lampadina è inserita nella base a circuito stampato (PCB) e il paralume di vetro è realizzato con strati di BEF riciclato, per creare la trama Moiré e reindirizzare la luce a 90°. “Appear” is made out of recycled material collected from disposed high-tech products. The bulb is embedded inside the PCB (processed circuit boards) base, and the glass shade that is made with layers of reclaimed BEF to create the Moiré texture as well as to redirect the light 90°.

When in use, the four legs rest on the floor with the sitter’s body weight. But when it’s not being used, “Ballet” assumes a position, static but dynamic, that has the elegance of a ballerina dancing on just one leg.

È costituita da pochi semplici pezzi: 5 piani e una piantana di legno di rovere e acciaio inox, con taglio CNC. Essendo un modulo è replicabile. “Baum” is inspired by the observation of the resistance and flexibility shared by trees and sailboat masts. It consists of just a few simple components: 5 shelves and a base made of oak and stainless steel, all cut with CNC technology. Since it is a module, it is replicable.

Invece di sporcare la borsa, dopo il pranzo nell’ufficio di città, si fissa in pochi movimenti e in poco tempo e si crea una postazione per la raccolta dei rifiuti.“Bin” supports the environment by providing the reuse of the plastic bag from the supermarket. Instead of littering the bag after lunch in the urban office it is fixed in very few movements and in no time a rubbish station is formed.

Il processo utilizzato per il laminato in pelle del paralume è fatto ad hoc unendo: pressione, modellatura a caldo e asciugatura. E si crea dai leganti così prodotti. “Bonded Leather Light” combines garment leather offcuts with mirror finished brass. The process used to make the leather shade laminate is specially designed by bringing together pressure, mould boiling and drying. The finished material uses only the internal bonds created in the process.

Si ispira a un detto malese: “Molte mani rendono il lavoro più facile”.The project is based on the premise of Vitruvius (‘utilitas, firmitas, venustas’), its focal point is the joint in ABS, which is used in 3D printing, serves here to connect the legs in solid Nyatoh wood. It is inspired by a Malaysian maxim, “Many hands make less work”.

The series was inspired by the cloud patterns from stone sculptures in ancient Chinese royal garden. It’s a re-interpretation of the Chinese art culture using the cutting-edge sculpturing technologies.
