The biodiversity of music is just as threatened as agricultural biodiversity: large labels demand standardized sounds that sell easily, following exactly the same logic of food corporations which flood the market with similar products all over the world. To celebrate, once again, the value of oral traditions, story-telling and popular culture expressed through music and poetry, Slow Food, Glocal Sound and Hiroshima Mon Amour will present a rich program of concerts that will accompany Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre during the core days of the event. A great opportunity for the city and event-goers. “Salone Off” will take place throughout the city in a number of locations: Barrito, Casa del Quartiere in via Morgari, Hiroshima Mon Amour, Lavanderie Ramone, Officine Corsare and Officine Bohemien.

Cantastorie e attore, Nando Brusco evoca la storia della sua Calabria attraverso il suono degli strumenti tradizionali. I cunti, le leggende, gli scritti di alcuni importanti autori calabresi sono il collante narrativo del suo spettacolo: L’Amuri di Calabria. Tamburi a cornice, chitarra e organetto accompagnano e dipanano la matassa della sua originale narrazione, ne liberano il fascino e il mistero, senza però invadere lo spazio proprio della fantasia e della re-interpretazione di ogni spettatore.
Storyteller and actor Nando Brusco evokes the history of his native Calabria with a musical background of sounds of traditional instruments. Cunti (tales), legends and writings by important Calabrese authors are the narrative glue of his show L’Amuri di Calabria, accompanied by music played on drums, guitar and button accordion. The result is much more than simple storytelling, and is part of Nando’s artistic and existential journey, animated by his desire to portray his land in an unique way.

They call themselves an “unsaturated” collective, open to the influences of musicians whose artistic integrity offers a unique and unpredictable performance every time. Lu MiéRe’s musical project is focused on the rediscovery and acoustic reinterpretation of movie soundtracks. The idea stems from the wish to revisit tracks that have marked the history of cinema, exploring new aspects and new possible meanings. Imagination, creativity, fantasy and extravagance characterize each performance, to the public’s great enjoyment.

Fin dal loro esordio nel 1993, l’impegno politico e sociale degli Asian Dub Foundation è stato una costante. Il gruppo, britannico ma formato da componenti di origine asiatica, è diventato famoso non solo per la sua capacità di tenere insieme sonorità eterogenee, che spaziano dall’elettronica al reggae alle musiche tradizionali indiane, ma anche per il supporto attivo che hanno dato a diverse cause: in primis, la lotta contro il razzismo e a favore dell’integrazione degli immigrati. Tra i progetti da loro promossi la Asian Dub Foundation Education associazione non-profit che coordina le attività educative in alcune zone disagiate di Londra.
Since their debut in 1993, the political and social engagement of Asian Dub Foundation has been a constant feature of their work. This British band, whose members are all of Asian origin, is known not only for its ability to combine different sounds - from electronic music to reggae and traditional Indian music - but also for its active support of various causes, first and foremost the fight against racism and for the integration of immigrants. Among the many projects they have promoted or supported over the years, in 1998 they founded the Asian Dub Foundation Education, a non-profit association that coordinates educational activities in several disadvantaged areas of London.

«Tene arteddeca» così in Campania e in particolare nella provincia di Salerno si dice di una persona che non riesce a stare ferma, con l’argento vivo addosso. Provenienti da diverse regioni d’Italia, i componenti del numeroso gruppo Arteddeca sono accumunati dal desiderio di riscoprire le proprie radici attraverso la musica, i canti e i balli tradizionali, nella ricerca di fonti, nello studio di sonorità e stili. Sul palco interpretano la storia del Sud Italia con canti di lavoro e d’amore, e un vastissimo repertorio in cui propongono: «tarantelle e canti del Gargano, Cilento e Irpinia, la pizzica salentina, l’affascinante e sensuale tammurriata campana, l’esuberante ritmo della tarantella calabrese» con la “rota” guidata da “u mastru e ballu” per uno spettacolo coinvolgente che vi farà esclamare: «Tenimmo arteddeca!».
“Tene arteddeca” is an expression used in the Campania region, particularly in the province of Salerno, for someone who can’t keep still. The numerous and energetic members of the Arteddeca group are united by a desire to rediscover their Southern Italian roots through traditional music, songs and dances, by studying various styles. Through their performances they tell the story of southern Italy’s history with a huge repertoire that includes everything from workers’ songs to love songs. Their music includes the tarantella and songs from Gargano, Cilento and Irpinia, pizzica from Salento, the fascinating and sensual tammurriata from Campania and the exuberant rhythm of tarantella from Calabria. Accompanying dances are guided by the u mastru e ballu (the dance master) in the traditional rota (dance circle). An exhilarating show that will make you shout, Tenimm arteddeca!

Il lavoro di ricerca del gruppo Enerbia valorizza il repertorio musicale dell’Appennino nord-occidentale, tra i più interessanti di tutta la penisola italiana. In queste valli, che uniscono la Pianura Padana al Golfo del Mar Ligure, si è conservata una lunga e ricchissima tradizione musicale fatta di canti, strumenti e danze. Le produzioni musicali del gruppo sono state premiate anche dal cinema. Per esempio Ermanno Olmi per il suo I cento chiodi ha scelto due struggenti valzer popolari eseguiti da Maddalena Scagnelli, voce del gruppo e arrangiatrice dei brani. Mentre Giuseppe Bertolucci ha inserito tra le musiche del documentario Un paese chiamato Po due brani tratti dal cd Così lontano l’azzurro.
The passionate work of the Enerbia ensemble is focused on showcasing the musical repertoire of the northwestern Apennines, one of the most interesting in all of Italy. The valleys that connect the Po Valley to the Ligurian Sea are home to an extremely rich musical tradition, and have preserved songs, instruments and dances. The groups’ work has also been honored by the cinema, and has been used by several productions in recent years. For instance, Ermanno Olmi chose two popular waltzes for his movie Centochiodi, sung by Maddalena Scagnelli, Enerbia’s vocalist and musical arranger, and Giuseppe Bertolucci included two tracks from the album “Così lontano l’azzurro” in his documentary Un paese chiamato Po (A Country called Po).

Lo spettacolo che gli attori-autori Andrea de Manicor e Silvio Truccano presentano è Canapa, un racconto leggero, comico e volutamente ironico che racconta diecimila anni di storia e i possibili usi di questa pianta straordinaria, immaginando (auspicando?) un futuro di rivalutazione. Lo spettacolo è dunque un omaggio alla memoria della civiltà contadina e a una pianta considerata da molti sacra, che ci vestiva, nutriva e curava.
Bringing together professional performers with over thirty years experience in the theater, the LiberArt company organizes performances and workshops on subjects such as consumerism, television and sustainable development. The actors and playwrights Andrea de Manicor and Silvio Truccano present Canapa (hemp), a light and comical satire that tells the thousand years of history and the many uses of this extraordinary plant, imagining a future where it will be appreciated again. La Kachupa Folk Band (da una zuppa africana) nasce dall’incontro di musicisti provenienti da culture e luoghi lontani per dare vita a una fusione tra sonorità antiche e moderne, tra Mediterraneo e Balcani. Il 27 Ottobre esce ufficialmente il loro terzo album «Terzo Binario» allegato al quale troverete il loro primo libro …Se la tartaruga s’abbronza… in collaborazione con Slow Food. Numerosi i riconoscimenti ricevuti nel 2012: vincono l’Accademia di Sanremo, L’Inedited World Music Festival e l’Umbria M.E.I. Folk dividendo il palco con importanti artisti quali Vinicio Capossela, Eugenio Bennato, Modena City Ramblers, Casino Royale e Eugenio Finardi.

Tonino Carotone è nato e cresciuto in Spagna, ma molto deve all’Italia. Dalla scelta del nome d’arte alle sonorità della sua musica – un vero e proprio omaggio alla canzone italiana, quella che faceva da colonna sonora alle commedie degli anni ’60 e ’70 – l’amore per l’Italia l’ha portato anche a partecipare a diversi programmi televisivi (Chiambretti Night, Parla con me, Scalo 76). Negli anni, sono state tante le collaborazioni prestigiose – tra cui quella, importantissima, con Manu Chao – e i riconoscimenti per Tonino, la cui musica è un travolgente misto di melodie vintage e ironia, un irresistibile invito a fare festa.
Tonino Carotone was born and raised in Spain but he owes a lot to Italy, from the choice of his stage name to the sounds of his music – a true homage to Italian songs, the soundtrack of comedies of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Nonostante siano nati da poco – gennaio del 2005 – i Bandakadabra si sono già fatti conoscere. Questi venti musicisti, tutti provenienti da esperienze artistiche diverse, propongono un repertorio che spazia dai ritmi balcanici alle marce popolari, passando per melodie latine e jazz. Autodefinitisi come «marching band e fanfara di strada», l’energia dell’esecuzione rende le loro performance trascinanti e imperdibili, un vero e proprio invito a ballare.
Despite being founded recently – January 2005 – Bandakadabra has already made a name for itself. The repertoire of these twenty musicians, who all come from different artistic backgrounds, ranges from Balkan rhythms to popular marches, Latin melodies and jazz. A self-proclaimed “marching band and street brass band”, their energy makes their performances enthralling and irresistible – a true invitation to dance.

Roy Paci è un musicista che non ha bisogno di presentazioni. Trombettista, compositore, arrangiatore e cantante, l’eclettico siracusano è ormai celebre in Italia e all’estero. Nel corso della sua pluridecennale carriera, oltre a essere coinvolto in tantissimi progetti musicali e a viaggiare in ogni parte del mondo, si è fatto promotore di diverse iniziative benefiche, diventando un simbolo dell’impegno sociale. Il poliedrico musicista non si è mai sottratto a nessuna collaborazione musicale, spaziando per i generi più diversi, e ha fatto anche qualche incursione nel cinema, nel teatro e nella televisione. Dal 1999 Roy ha arricchito ulteriormente il panorama musicale italiano con la nascita di Roy Paci & Aretuska, band nella quale ha riunito diversi giovani talenti italiani.
Roy Paci is a musician who needs no introduction. Trumpet player, composer, arranger and singer, this eclectic artist from Syracuse, Sicily, is now famous both in Italy and abroad. In his career of more than 10 years he has been involved in countless musical projects and traveled to all corners of the world. He has also promoted many charitable initiatives and become a symbol of social engagement. The versatile musician has never said no to any musical collaboration, exploring the most diverse genres, and has even had a taste of cinema, theater and television. Since 1999 Paci has further enriched the Italian music scene by creating the Roy Paci & Aretuska band, which gathers many young Italian talents.

Il lavoro di ricerca dell’associazione Artusin si manifesta nella ri-proposta di momenti di festa propri della tradizione occitana, ma anche del vivere quotidiano con mostre, libri, pubblicazioni e ricerche entnografiche, e soprattutto con l’uso del kyé, la parlata occitana locale. Il ballo occitano, nelle sue espressioni bourrée, countrodanso e courento delle valli Po, Vermenagna e Varaita, rappresenta momenti di condivisione senza alcuna discriminazione e coinvolge persone di tutte le età, genere e ceto.
The extensive research carried out by the Artusin association manifests through the re-staging of traditional Occitan celebrations, but also the exploration of daily life through exhibitions, books, publications and ethnographic research, and most importantly the use of kyé – the Occitan dialect. Occitan dances offer the opportunity to celebrate and share with no discrimination, and involve people of all ages, gender and social background.

La passione comune per la musica, le melodie dei trovatori e dei menestrelli occitani e l’amore per il territorio che dalle Alpi piemontesi si estende al Golfo del Leone e di Biscaglia hanno condotto un gruppo di amici musicisti a proporre antichi canti e ballate, senza esasperazioni archeologiche e stilistiche, ma con disincanto e ironia, tanto da assumere bonariamente il nome di Janavel (barbagianni). Gli strumenti sono quelli della tradizione occitana: l’organetto diatonico (semitoun), la ghironda (viulo) abbinati al contrabbasso e alle percussioni (darbuka), per una musica ritmica e vivace senza l’utilizzo di basi musicali né di strumenti elettrici. Unico intento: far festa!
This group of musicians and friends was brought together by a shared passion for the music, especially that of the Occitan troubadours and minstrels, and a love of the Occitan region that stretches from the Alps of Piedmont to the Gulf of Lion and the Bay of Biscay. Named after the barn owl, Janavel brings to life ancient songs and ballads without stylistic exaggerations, but with plenty of wit. The instruments used are typical of the Occitan tradition: diatonic button accordion (semitoun) and hurdy-gurdy (viulo), accompanied by double bass and percussion (darbuka), which create a rhythmic and lively music without electric instruments. The one purpose of this music? To party!

Roberto Magnifico (Robert Pešut all’anagrafe) è nato in Slovenia dove è conosciutissimo. La sua proposta musicale, per quanto le sue canzoni risentano fortemente delle sonorità della sua terra, va oltre ben il tributo alla musica balcanica: fin dal suo esordio nel 1992 il cantante ha sempre mescolato anche musica disco, elettronica e funk, creando uno stile unico e inconfondibile. Il modo di vestire, le performances e lo stile di Roberto l’hanno reso celebre in Slovenia e anche all’estero, grazie anche a numerose collaborazioni in ambito musicale, e a svariate apparizioni in film sloveni.
Roberto Magnifico (born Robert Pešut) was born in Slovenia, where he is extremely famous. His musical production, despite being heavily influenced by the sounds of his land, goes beyond the tribute to Balkan music. Since his debut in 1992 the singer has always mixed disco, electronic and funk music, thus creating a unique and unmistakable style. Roberto’s outfits, performances and style have made him famous in Slovenia and abroad, thanks also to his many musical collaborations and various appearances in Slovenian movies.

I Lou Dalfin non sono solo una band musicale: potrebbero essere definiti un vero e proprio fenomeno di costume. Nascono nel 1982 con l’obiettivo di far conoscere meglio, all’Italia e all’estero, la cultura occitana, cantano in lingua d’oc, la stessa nella quale si esibivano i trovatori occitani. Dopo 30 anni, 11 album e più di 1200 concerti, si può decisamente dire che ci siano riusciti. Il loro repertorio non si esaurisce in brani storici e popolari, realizzati con l’utilizzo di strumenti tradizionali (vioulo, armoni a semitoun, pinfre…). La band infatti ha voluto rendere la cultura e la musica occitaniche fruibili a tutti, aprendosi pertanto a contaminazioni dai più svariati generi musicali e a collaborazioni con numerosi artisti.
Lou Dalfin is not only a music band, but a true social phenomenon. The band was founded in 1982 with the goal to communicate Occitan culture in Italy and abroad. After 30 years, 11 albums and more than 1,200 live shows, it can be safely said that they have reached their objective. Lou Dalfin’s lyrica are in Lenga d’oc, the same language used by Occitan troubadours (composers and performers). The band wants to make Occitan music understandable and enjoyable to everyone, therefore their repertoire does not only include historical and popular pieces, played with traditional instruments (vioulo, armoni a semitoun, pinfre…);, but also contains influences from the most varied musical genres.

Melodie originali e di genere popolare, testi comici, spontaneità, tanta voglia di ridere senza prendersi troppo sul serio, tutto farcito dal dissacrante uso del dialetto piemontese. Uno spettacolo a cavallo tra musica e cabaret, in un misto di divertimento tragicomico e surreale.
More than 1,200 concerts, international tours and performances in theatres, clubs and squares: Trelilu, modern storytellers, this year celebrate 20 years of career. Original pop melodies, amusing texts, spontaneity and the ability to have a laugh without taking themselves too seriously are mixed with the clever use of the Piedmontese dialect. Their performance is a combination of music and cabaret in a tragicomic and surreal show.

Venerdì e sabato notte la linea 18 Blu del Nightbuster fa capolinea a Lingotto FS (Stazione Lingotto) con partenze ogni mezzora dalle 24 alle 5. Una volta in stazione, prosegui a piedi per via Bossoli (uscendo te la trovi di fronte) per circa 200 mt. e sei arrivato.On Friday and Saturday nights the line 18 Blu of the Nightbuster will connect the city centre (leaving and arriving at Piazza Vittorio Veneto) and Lingotto station (Lingotto FS). To find the stop at Lingotto, take Via Carlo Bossoli directly in front of the station, for around 200 m. The bus will run hourly until 5 am.
