Ecotono deriva dal greco oikos (casa) e tonos (tensione) e con “ecotono” vengono definiti gli ambienti di transizione, interposti tra altri ambienti diversi fra loro.

In fondo siamo tutti degli ecotoners: viviamo tutti in un ambiente di transizione, sospesi tra ieri oggi e domani intimamente legati agli oggetti che quotidianamente ci semplificano la vita e sempre alla ricerca di nuovi che la migliorino e ci permettano di essere più padroni del nostro tempo.Il grande l’obiettivo che accompagna il team di ecotono ogni giorno è creare, reinventare, migliorare, semplificare e andare oltre la funzione originaria di ogni prodotto.

The word “ecotone” was coined from a combination of eco(logy) plus -tone, from the greek tonos or Tension. In other words it is a place where ecologies are in tension.

We are all ecotoners in the heart!We live in transition hanging between past and future but constantly aiming at progress.We are closely linked to objects, that every day simplify our lives, but we are also always looking

sensations.

The main purpose of our team is creating, re-inventing, improving, simplifying and going beyond original function of each item.

“Ricordiamo sempre con tenerezza le tante ore passate da nostra madre in fabbrica tra lancette, pennelli e imballi e il tanto impegno di nostro padre che quella fabbrica la faceva andare avanti.”

In questo contesto, finiti gli studi universitari Simone e Francesco non hanno avuto dubbi, dovevano continuare quell’attività che dal 1979 era l’impegno e la passione della nostra famiglia, guardando al futuro e alle nuove esigenze. Hanno iniziato così a ristrutturare il modo di operare dell’azienda, cambiando completamente l’assortimento e le collezioni. L’Italia non bastava più e hanno aperto l’azienda al mondo, partecipando a fiere e trovando nuovi clienti. I risultati hanno cominciato a vedersi e nonostante la crisi l’azienda tornò a crescere.

We always warmly remember the hours our mum was used to spend in the factory, unfailingly working with paint brushes and packagings, togheter with our dad who was heading up everything with the strongest commitment.

Growing up with this images, after the university, both me and my brother decided to keep this 30 years old society, which was our parents’ greatest passion, but looking to the future and to the newest needs which were changing during the years .

We started to reorganize the society, changing the assortments and the collections.Italy seemed too small for us, so we decided to attend to some international fairs, opening our minds to Europe and to the world and then we began to see some good results.

In that moment Ecotono was born, from our need to give to some design products the possibility to improve.

Ecotono è fiera e orgogliosa di avere la sua sede direzionale e produttiva nella città di Nove.

A Nove infatti si produce ceramica da trecento anni: quest’attività artistica deve infatti la sua fortuna ad una congiunzione di vari fattori che ne favorirono lo sviluppo.

Le più antiche ed illustri manifatture sono sorte lungo la Roggia Isacchina: un corso d’acqua che attraversa tutto il centro storico di Nove, sulle cui rive sorgono due importanti mulini, nati per la preparazione degli impasti ceramici.

Solo grazie ad un sapere così radicato nel nostro territorio e alla presenza di maestranze famose a livello internazionale, Ecotono ha potuto e saputo sviluppare la sua collezione, che porta la tradizione della ceramica ad un nuovo traguardo verso le esigenze di vita contemporanee.

Ecotono is proud to be born in Nove.

Nove is one of the most important place in which ceramic is produced.

The first factories arose along the small river Roggia Isacchina, which passes through the heart of Nove, and along which there are two important mills that were used for the preparation of the ceramic dough.

Thank to this deep culture in which it lives, Ecotono had the opportunity to develop its collection, which brings the ceramic tradition next to the modern needs.

L’idea Ecotono è quella di ampliare le funzioni degli oggetti di design. Ogni oggetto Ecotono infatti ha l’obiettivo di svolgere più funzioni oltra a quella più tradizionale, comune e palese.

Il concept Ecotono nasce dalla consapevolezza di una “mancanza” nel mondo dell’arredamento, del design e dell’illuminazione, di sfruttare le possibilità tecnologiche e di conseguenza di non rispondere all’esigenza di avere oggetti smart e connessi alle funzioni dei nuovi gadget tecnologici che usiamo quotidianamente.

L’esempio più diretto è quello del paragone con lo smartphone: i cellulari negli anni hanno ampliato le loro funzionalità unendo all’interno di un unico oggetto tantissime funzionalità ampliandone l’utilità. La stessa cosa vuole fare Ecotono con gli oggetti della sua collezione.

Ecotono’s idea is to give a new term of usability to our design objects. The secret of all Ecotono items is the multifuncionality.

The concept grows up from the awareness that in the world of design there’s a sort of lack of usability. We all have smartphones and other smart objects, but we cannot use them contextually with our home furnishing for example.

If we want to make a comparison, Ecotono is like a smartphone: mobile phones during the years extended their functionalities, combining lots of functions in just one device
