Logistics Event office Event office is located on the ground floor of the Event centre. Event office will be open as specified in the programme during the competition time. Maps, start lists, start bibs, results, information and other things will be available at the office. You can contact the supervisor of the Event office by phone on number +39 3466467774 (Giulia) Accreditation Upon accreditation all teams are required to pay the final balance of the entry fees and the accommodation fees ordered through the WOC organizers (in case they were not already paid). The team leaders (on behalf of the whole team) will then receive the Official Programme (Bulletin4), accommodation vouchers, meal tickets, Model event maps. The athletes must carry a valid identification document (passport or equivalent) during the whole event. The other team materials can be collected at the Municipal Hall in via Roma, 5 Montecchio Maggiore. Accommodation The organization have allocated the teams to the available accommodation according to the conditions and requests. All information and help with locations is available at the Event Office. Meals The organization will provide lunch and dinner at the event centre only for the teams that had requested it and paid beforehand. Breakfast is normally at the accommodation. In some places breakfast is not available at the accommodation, and those teams will have breakfast at the event centre. More information is available at the Event Office. Transportation Transportation is available only for teams who have pre-ordered and paid for the service. The time schedule for transportation is listed below in the daily event details. Use of private cars for transport to competition arenas is allowed. Internet There is free wireless internet available at the Event Centre. Bike Storage At each accommodation there is a locked place for bike storage. There is a safe compound at the Event Centre. Opening hours from 6.00 am to 10.00pm. Access to compound is available only with proper ID.

Identification documents The athletes must carry a valid identification docu ment (passport or equivalent) during the whole event.

Event Information

Classes • WMTBOC W 21, M 21 • JWMTBOC W -20, M -20 Participation restrictions: Each Federation may enter a team of up to 16 competitors – up to 8 women and 8 men - in WMTBOC, and a team of up to 12 competitors – up to 6 women and 6 men - in JWMTBOC. The maximum number of officials per team is 6. In each competition a federation may enter: • Individual events: max. 6 men, 6 women / federation /competition and, in addition, the current World Champions for the distance may be entered by their Federation • Relay events max. 2 male teams, 2 female teams / federation/ competition Open Events (punch and go): • MTB-Open Competitions Open 1 (easy) , Open 2 (medium difficulty), Open 3 (difficult) Open event: deadline for entries 19 August Rules Competitions will be organized according to the “Competition Rules for IOF MTB-O Events”, valid from 1 January 2010. Special rules for the competition are: 1. Competitors must get to all control points with their bikes. 2. Riding off the track, trail or path is prohibited except on the symbol 839.2 “test-ride-able area – orange” 3. Running with bike (carrying the bike) is prohibited. 4. Riders must ride on the RIGHT side on all roads and tracks. Overtaking slower riders should be done on the LEFT. Maps Maps are prepared in accordance with IOF International Specification for MTB Orienteering Maps- ISMTBOM 2010. All maps used during the competition are printed by laser printer on 100g/m2 paper. In case of bad weather maps will be placed in plastic bags. All maps will be collected after the races and consigned to the teams at the team leaders’ meeting. At the Model event you can test the paper quality and see colors and symbols used on different map scales, including course symbols. Mapping Specifications In agreement with the IOF EA, we used the new symbol 839.2 for ride-able area (orange colour) This new symbol will be described during Team Leaders’ meetings and will be demonstrated during the Model Event.

Punching System The SPORTident system will be used for all events. Competitors can use their own SI Card or the Organizers can provide a rental SI Card upon request. Competitors are responsible for clearing and checking their SI cards before the start.

Time keeping at the finish of all individual competitions will be done by punching system. Athletes are required to punch the finish unit placed at the finish line. In cases where electronic control units are not working, competitors should mark the control using manual punches on the map. The competitors must test their SI-cards at the Model Events, to check the compatibility with used software. In case of problems, organizer will provide a replacement SI-card for the event. Team Leaders' Meeting Team leaders meetings will be held in a reserved room at the basement of the Event centre at the times indicated on the Programme, mostly at the evening before every competition, except for the Long Final race, when the TLM will be held at 17:45 – 18:30 (Monday) in Vicenza, Via dei Proti, 3 before the opening ceremony. All relevant race material – start lists, bus sched ules etc. – shall be distributed prior to the start of the meeting. Name Registration before Races Registration of competitor names before each competition must be submitted to the Organizers at the Event office before 3.00pm on the day before each race. The registrations shall also include division of competitors into 3 individual draw-groups. Starting Order The starting order shall be approved by the IOF Senior Event Adviser. The start list shall be published on or before the day prior to the competition and before any Team Leaders’ meeting. In individual competitions with no qualification races, for both women and men a Red Start Group will consist of the following competitors: the reigning World Champion of the format the 9 top-listed competitors in the IOF World Ranking list as published 10 days before the event. In the case of a tie, all competitors concerned will be included in the Red Start Group. The Red start group starts last. For the Relay, women may be registered as part of a men’s team and associated relay course. Mixed teams with athletes from more than one federation are not allowed. Bib Number Every competitor will receive two start bibs for all individual competitions, and two different start bibs for the relay competition. One bib number should be visible from the front and attached to the bike handlebars during all competitions. The other bib number should be visible from the back attached to the jersey on the back of the competitor during all competitions. QUARANTINE ZONES At all the competitions except for the Relay the competitors will be quarantined before their start. There will be a check-in at the quarantine zone at which competitors and team officials must show their accreditation cards and sign a list. They must enter the quarantine zone before the specified deadline. Late comers will not be allowed to enter and late competitors will not be permitted to take part in the competition. The quarantine zones will have a shelter, toilets, drinking water and a place for leaving personal belongings to be transported to the finish area. Teams are not allowed to bring their own tents. The use of mobile phones, computers or any other communications devices is prohibited inside the quarantine zone. It is also forbidden to bring maps of the competition area into the quarantine. Model Event August 21, 2011 – Castegnero – Nanto The organiser will put on a model event to demonstrate the terrain type, map quality, control features, control set-ups, refreshment points and marked routes. Competitors, team officials, IOF officials and media representatives will be offered the opportunity to participate in the model event.

Embargoed Areas

Anti-Doping The organisers of WOC2011 are committed to doing all in their power to support the official anti-doping authorities in their work. The anti-doping tests will be conducted in accordance with the procedures laid down in the WADA International Standards for Testing and the IOF anti-doping rules valid as from 1st February 2010. They may be carried out at any time during the competition period. Teams must inform the organiser of where they will be staying between 19th and 28th August. At the reception they will be asked to fill in a form providing the necessary information. Athletes who are selected for anti-doping tests must report to the anti-doping area with an official identity document carrying a photograph and, if relevant, a copy of their therapeutic use exemption (TUE). Ceremonies Opening Ceremony The Opening ceremony will be held after the Long Qualification race in Vicenza on Monday 22th August . It will be organized as a walking parade of all national teams, starting from Piazza Esedra – Campo Marzo. (meeting point.) All participants must be at the Piazza Esedra at 18:00 to be prepared for the parade with the national flag, and wear their national uniform. The parking will be guarded.

Prize Ceremony Short flower ceremonies will be organized at all the finals, at the finish arenas, as described in the Programme. The First three competitors will be awarded in each category. Full official prize giving ceremonies will be held at the finish arenas (in case of bad weather at the Event Center) as described in the Programme. First three competitors in each category will be awarded medals and first six competitors will get diplomas. First competitor in each category will receive the World Champion mtb-o 2011 Jersey. For the Sprint Final the prize giving ceremony is in conjunction with the Closing Ceremony. The Event Organizer requests all awardees to be present on time and wearing the national uniform. Closing Ceremony and banquet The organizers provide a shuttle bus from Sossano Arena to EC Montecchio Maggiore. Departure from Sossano Sportsground (impianti sportivi) at h17.00. The start interval in WOC qualification is 3 minutes. The start interval in JWOC prologue is 2 minutes. Competitors must register at the start 3 minutes before their start time. Start Area Zugliano

The Start is 8,1km on asphalted roads from the Quarantine Area. There will be a warm-up map to be used from the Quarantine to the start. The map will be given to each athlete at the first pre start. Competitors are free to warm up in all the areas of the warm-up map, but it is their responsibility to be at the start line on time. Each athlete must be present at first pre-start not more that 45 minutes before the starting time.

Start : First start of A-final categories 09:30, B-final categories 13:30. The time interval in each A-final is 3 minutes and at B-final 2 minutes. Competitors must be at the start 3 minutes before their start time.

The Start is 2,2 km on asphalted roads from the Quarantine Area. There will be a map to be used from the Quarantine to the start. The map will be given to each athlete at the pre-pre start. Each athlete must be present at pre-pre-start exactly 15 minutes before the starting time. The pre start is in Piazza degli Scacchi, 1 km from quarantine zone (toilets available); distance between Piazza degli Scacchi and the Start is 1,2 Km. Athletes will start 10 min before from Piazza degli Scacchi. It is their responsibility to be at the pre-call -3 min on time.

Start: first start 10:00, interval in each category 2 minutes, competitors shall register on start 3 minutes before their start time. Separations: To ensure fairness and to avoid information transfer two separation areas will be set up: In the pre-start area: all competitors and officials shall enter to pre-start separation area (registering through the gate) at 09:45 latest. Nobody will be allowed to enter to start area (prestart) later. In the finish area: All finishing riders shall stay in a finish separation area until 13:00. Organizers will provide transport of clothes from start to the finish separation area. Doping: Competitors chosen for doping tests can move from the separation area only under the supervision of a doping inspector.

Start : Mass start of first leg: WOC Men 10:30 WOC Women 10:40 JWOC Men/Women 10:50 Competitors get their map and on start signal run to their bikes placed some meters ahead. Then they follow a taped route until the triangle. Doping: Competitors chosen for doping tests can move from the separation area only under the supervision of a doping inspector. Spectator Control : There is one leg crossing the arena allowing the new starter to see their team mate in time to be prepared for the start. It is the competitor's responsibility to be ready when the previous rider arrives. After crossing the arena it takes around 6/8 minutes to arrive at the finish; at that moment the next biker can enter the changeover area. Changeover : The changeover is done by touching the next rider inside the predetermined area; after that, the arriving athlete must punch the finish unit. The new rider picks his map from the stand and proceeds to the start flag. Mass start for second and third leg : second leg 12:30, third leg 1:30 pm. Finish : The finish unit is punched after crossing the finish line. The classification is determined by the order in which the competitors cross the finish line. Only the fastest team from each federation is counted on the event classification.

Start : First start is at 2:00pm. The time interval between starts in each category is 1 minute. Separation: All competitors must enter the Stadium by 13:45, and can not leave before all athletes have finished their course. There is a separation zone between the athletes that will start from the athletes that have already finished the course. Absolutely no contact can be between them. It is possible to pass equipment from Starters zone to Finishers zone, using a transition place. The use of Mobile phones is not allowed inside Stadium. Team officials can pass from Starters zone to Finishers zone, but can not go back. It is forbidden to warm up on the football field (grass), there is a specific zone to warm up around this field.
