Dominante il Televisa group, collegato al PRI (partito di destra). Dopo che il PRI ha perso le
elezioni si affermata una maggiore indipendenza e sono emersi concorrenti come Azteca.
Il mercato radio conta su circa 1400 stazioni locali e regionali. Quelle al confine sfruttano anche ilmercato USA.
La libert di stampa fragile e I media subiscono pesanti attacchi ad opera di vari interessi.
