8° Festival delle regioni

L’accoglienza, la fratellanza e l’amicizia hanno scritto la

storia del “ Festival delle Regioni “ promosso otto anni fa

dall’Associazione Culturale “ Bucine un Comune in Fiore “.

Un patrimonio rinvigorito attraverso la Fondazione della

“ Bucina “, singolare strumento di dialogo tra pubblico e

privato, costruzione di un progetto sul territorio nazionale

attraverso la costruzione della “ Prima Città Diffusa “.

Fondazione perchè unico e irripetibile strumento per

valorizzare i territori, conservare le tradizioni e sostenere

l’ economia partecipata .

Nel 2010 ,in occasione del 3° Giubileo dell’Unità d’Italia, la

Bucina ha accolto le venti regioni d’Italia insieme a cinque

testimonials europei e una straordinaria, qualificata

partecipazione di giovani che si è conclusa con la firma

del protocollo d’intesa dei venti sindaci: i padri della Città

diffusa.

Quest’anno la Fondazione contribuisce a interpretare

alcune aspettative delle diverse realtà sociali: gli

universitari cattolici, i giovani Imprenditori ad ogni livello

rappresentati, l’Istituto delle Capezzine, l’Ordine dei

Veterinari e tante altre realtà della vita civile convinte

del progetto e , al tempo stesso, linfa professionale e

culturale per il paese.

Questo il modello della Città diffusa: un mosaico

rappresentativo di ogni vera, preziosa,insostituibile realtà!

Una citta’ nata attraverso l’aiuto e l’incessante entusiasmo

delle delegazioni regionali che insieme al comune di

Bucine hanno

concretizzato questa importante circostanza: una Città,

minore solo nel numero degli abitanti, non certo nei valori

che incardina!

Bucine è sì la capofila, ma è mio dovere di Presidente

ricordare che ciascuna delegazione è protagonista con le

proprie tradizioni e consuetudini, vero arricchimento dell’

ottavo festival delle regioni.

In questo momento, nel quale il mondo attraversa ancora

difficoltà e incertezze, torna essenziale - a parer mio -

ricordarci da dove veniamo, da dove tutto ha avuto inizio e

di come le nostre origini e tradizioni ci riverberano quanto

belle, vere e produttive sono le cose semplici!

Welcome, fraternity and friendship wrote down the

story of the “Festival delle regioni” (regions of Italy’s

Festival), which 8 years ago was promoted by the Cultural

Association named “Bucine un Comune in Fiore”.

All this heritage is fortify by the Foundation of “Bucina”.

“Bucina” is a peculiar instrument used to spak between

private citizens and public authorities. “Bucina” made

also possible the setting up of a project on the National

territory, through the creation of the first “Città Diffusa”

(Widespread City).

“Bucina is a foundation because this is the only possible

and urepeatable instruments to give value to the countries

in order to mantain traditions and to substein the shared

economy.

On 2010 there was the third Jubilee of Italian’s unification

and in that occasion the foundation ”Bucina” gave

hospitality to the testimonials of the twenty italian regions,

but also to five european countries. That occasion showed

an extraordinary and qualified participation of young

people. It ended with the signature of the twenty Majors of

each relevant regions of an Agreement Protocol named:

“Fathers of Widespread City”.

The spirit of the Foundation “Bucina”, this year, is to

interpretate some of the different expectation of the social

reality: The Catholic University, the young entrepreneurs,

the Intitute of “Capezzine”, the Veterinarians Association

and many others testimonial of civil life. But the most

important aim of all of them is the belief on that project

and, at the same time, the importance of each of them

for the civilization and the professionalism of the country.

This is the aim and the model of the Widespread City: a

representative patchwork of every precious irreplaceable

reality.

It is city born tank to the neverending help and the

enthusiasm of each single delegation of the twenty

regions. All of them, together with the Bucine Community,

make came true this important reality: a city with a little

number of citizens but with big ethical principles that

incarnate.

Bucine is the chlorophil but, as a president, my dutie is

to remember and say that every delegation of the twenty

regions is a protagonist. All the people that came to

Bucine bring their traditions and costum, all this is a real

enrichment for the eighth Regional Festival.

In this moment in which the world is still living difficulties

and uncertentainty is, on my opinion, essential to

remember where we came from, where started everything,

but most of all, is important to highlight our origin and our

traditions, because these things are the real engine for

each one of us to remember the importance of the single

things.

Nei nostri viaggi attraversando territori diversi cerchiamo

tracce della storia di quella terra, di chi la vive , che ci

permettano di capire e conservare memoria. A volte è la

bellezza paesaggistica, oppure i segni di arte e cultura,

passati e recenti, o la semplice degustazione di quei

prodotti che lo rendono unico e diverso dalla nostra

quotidianità.

Il Festival delle Regioni nasce per esaltare le qualità

della nostra bella terra , felicemente collocata tra le

colline del Chianti e del Valdarno, assoluto crocevia in

una Regione culla di storia e di cultura. La Toscana è da

sempre un luogo di incontro tra popoli , aperta e curiosa

ad ascoltare gli altri forte di una sua identità antica e in

continuo cambiamento. E la forza di questo attinge nella

storica capacità di essere una rete fortissima di tante

piccole comunità, diverse, orgogliosamente autonome ,

portatrici libere di storie e tradizioni. Il nostro ambizioso

ma realistico progetto, vuole riprodurre l’idea di una città

diffusa data dall’unione di tante realtà diverse e lontane

ma assolutamente capaci di condividere un percorso

mettendo al centro valori ed obiettivi comuni. Promuovere

i nostri territori, i nostri prodotti, le nostre manifestazioni

le nostre diverse storie, a livello nazionale ed europeo,

facendo un gioco di squadra, in rete, rappresentando

sotto un unico simbolo una città diffusa di quasi 200.000

abitanti…L’esperienza di questi anni ci pone l’obbligo di

fare tesoro del lavoro straordinario fatto dall’associazione”

Bucine un comune in Fiore” e, insieme alle altre

amministrazioni che rappresenteranno tutte le regioni

di Italia, lavorare per continuare con sempre maggiore

forza e convinzione a costruire una manifestazione che

diventi un evento determinante per la realizzazione di

questo importante progetto. Il Festival del 2010 sarà il

momento di svolta decisivo per validare le nostre idee

e il lavoro che ci attende ancora più duro e impegnativo.

Il risultato sarà comunque legato alla capacità che,

ancora una volta, la nostra comunità avrà di raccogliere il

lavoro , la voglia, l’entusiasmo , di tutti i nostri concittadini

che vorranno iniziare questo nuovo viaggio con noi.

A noi tutti dunque buon lavoro, e buon viaggio.

In our journeys across different territories we look for

traces of the history of the land and of those who live

there, things which help us to understand and to retain

memory. Sometimes it is the beauty of the landscape,

or the signs of art and culture, past or present, or

simply the savouring of the products which make it

unique and different from our daily lives. The Festival

of the Regions came into being to exalt the qualities

of our beautiful land, happily set between the hills of

Chianti and those of Valdarno, absolute crossroads

in a region which is a cradle of history and culture.

Tuscany has always been a meeting place between

people, open and curious to listen to others, strong in

its ancient identity and subject to continual change. The

force of this is drawn from the historic ability of being a

very strong network of many small communities, different,

proudly independent, uninhibited carriers of stories and tr

aditions.

Our ambitious yet realistic project wants to reproduce the

idea of a widespread city gained from the union of many

realities, diverse and distant but absolutely able to share a

goal putting at the centre common values and objectives.

Promoting our territories, our products, our festivals

and our different histories, on a national and European

level, as a team, in Internet, representing, under a single

symbol, a widespread city of nearly 200,000 inhabitants…

The experience of the last few years obliges us to put to

good use the extraordinary work done by the association

“Bucine un commune in Fiore” and, together with the other

administrations that represent all the other regions of Italy,

work with greater force and conviction to build a festival

which may become a determining event in the realisation

of this important project.

The 2010 festival will be a decisive turning point for

validating our ideas and the work that lies ahead will be

harder and more demanding. Future success, however, is

once again linked to the ability our community will have

in reaping the work, the desire, the enthusiasm, of all our

fellow citizens who want to set out on this new journey

with us.To everyone then, good work and have a nice trip.

La FONDAZIONE “La BUCINA” recentemente

costituita,che rappresenta una grossa realtà socio-politi-

ca-ambientale all’interno della nostra comunità,ha come

logo-simbolo la classica foglia con sopra lo stemma del

comune e sul lato destro le due parole:Abbondanza e

Fratellanza.Mentre è facile comprendere il significato delle

parole riportate,resta più complicato,forse,per molti nostri

concittadini,comprendere il senso di questo orgoglioso

simbolo comunale.

Cerchiamo di ripercorrere insieme una breve cronistoria.

Le vicende di Bucine risalgono addirittura all’epoca

delle invasioni di Annibale,quando il grande storico

romano Livio tramandò notizia degli incendi e dei danni

provocati dall’esercito in marcia nelle ricche e fertili

campagne aretine. Nel periodo feudale(1200) il Castello

di Bucine appare compreso nel cosiddetto VISCONTADO

DELL’AMBRA sotto la signoria dei Conti Guidi di

Modigliana,una famiglia che estese il suo potere tra la

Romagna e la Toscana senza riuscire a dare una vera e

propria unità politica ai propri territori.

Sullo stemma del comune di Bucine,ecco il punto,compare

il LEONE RAMPANTE simbolo araldico dei conti Guidi

e,sulle zampe anteriori dell’animale,è collocata una

curiosa figura,oggetto di tante interpretazioni verosimili

ma nessuna storicamente certa.La simbologia di cui

parliamo sembra alludere al significato del nome di

Bucine,da alcuni intesa come un’ antiquata rete da caccia

o più probabilmente da pesca con riferimento al fiume

Ambra,da altri ancora vista come una Buccina(corno

da caccia) o come cornucopia….Lo stesso Emanuele

Repetti,la voce più autorevole e competente della nostra

terra,scrive nel 1845 testualmente “….con tuttociò non

abbiamo ragione da poter pronunciare sulla etimologia

del nome dato a questo castello(Bucine),se dall’eco

e rintruono delle acque,piuttosto che dal suono delle

trombette e dei corni dei cacciatori esso derivasse.

Comunque sia la bisogna,l’origine di questo castello è

tuttora nascosta fra le tenebre della storia…”

Chiarito questo,o meglio esaminate le ipotesi dell’origine

di questo simbolo,concluderei dicendo che Bucine

conserva oggi,autentici e originali aspetti della campagna

toscana che ne fanno un territorio prediletto da chi

vuole soggiorni tranquilli ma di grande interesse,con

la possibità di scoprire visioni dimenticate e perfette di

un’antica civiltà.Il profumo dei vasti campi coltivati,le

distese di vigne,i querceti che interrompono con macchie

di colore più intenso il paesaggio,sono gli elementi tipici

di questo territorio a torto spesso dimenticato e” a pochi

passi” da Arezzo,Siena e Firenze,città che catturano

e monopolizzano il turista anche perché le preziose

proposte del nostro territorio non sono ancora visibili e

fruibili come dovrebbero.

The recently constituted Foundation “La Bucina” which

represents an important social-political-environmental

reality within our community has as its logo-symbol the

classic leaf with the council’s coat of arms on it and on the

right hand side the two words: Abundance and Fraternity.

While it is easy to understand the meaning of the words,

for many of our fellow citizens it is perhaps more difficult

to understand the sense of this proud council symbol.

Let us try to look at a brief historical account together.

The events concerning Bucine go back even as far as

the time of Hannibal’s invasions, when the great Roman

historian Livio reported news of the fires and of the damage

done by the army on its march through the rich and

fertile countryside of Arezzo. In the feudal period (1200)

Bucine castle appears to have been part of the so called

VISCOUNCY of AMBRA under the rule of the Counts

Guidi of Modigliana, a family which extended its power

between Romagna and Tuscany without succeeding in

giving any real political unity to its territories. Getting to the

point, on the coat of arms of Bucine Council the RAMPANT

LION appears, heraldic symbol of the Counts Guidi and

a curious object is placed between its front legs, source

of many likely interpretations, none of which historically

certified. The symbolism we are talking about seems to

allude to the meaning of the name of Bucine, by some

thought to be an ancient hunting net or more probably

fishing net with reference to the Ambra river, by others

seen as a Buccina ( hunting horn) or as a cornucopia….

The most authoritative and competent voice of our

land, Emanuele Repetti himself, in 1845 writes, quote:

“….. through all this we have no proof to enable us to

pronounce upon the etymology of the name given to this

castle (Bucine), if it derives from the echo and thunder

of the waters, rather than from the sound of the trumpets

and of the horns of the hunters. Whatever might be

the need, the origin of this castle is still hidden in the

obscurity of history….” Having clarified this, or rather

having examined the hypothesis regarding the origin of

this symbol, I would like to conclude by saying that the

Bucine of today maintains authentic and original aspects

of Tuscan countryside which make it a favourite place for

those who desire tranquil holidays but of great interest,

with the possibility of discovering perfect yet forgotten

visions of an ancient civilization. The fragrance of the

vast, cultivated fields, the spread of the vineyards, the

oak woods which interrupt the landscape with splashes of

more intense colour, are the typical characteristics of this

territory, sometimes wrongly forgotten about, only a short

distance from Arezzo, Siena and Florence, cities which

capture and monopolise the tourists, also due to the fact

that the precious proposals our territory has to make are

not yet as visible and usable as they should be.

Circa 10.000 abitanti per 131 chilometri quadrati,Bucine

sorge lungo la vallata sinistra del torrente Ambra. Il

territorio, ricco di strutture agrituristiche,offre un piacevole

soggiorno di Relax ed escursioni nei centri storici vicini

ricchi di arte: Siena, Arezzo, Firenze.

Posto nella fascia dove gli estremi monti del Chianti

vanno a toccare la valle superiore dell’Arno,il territorio del

comune di Bucine ha avuto insediamenti ed è stato zona

di transito fin dal periodo romano come testimonia l’antico

ponte di Pogi.Poco distante dal centro storico è situata la

Pieve di Galatrona che custodisce un fonte battesimale

e un ciborio,entrambi realizzati in terracotta invetriata da

Giovanni Della Robbia(1469-1529).Particolarmente in-

teressante la visita al Castello di Cennina,costruzione

del XII° secolo,appartenuta ai Tarlati,dalla quale si gode

uno splendido panorama sulla vallata sottostante.Il

comune di Bucine,insignito della medaglia d’oro al valor

civile,rappresenta attualmente l’Italia nella “Carta dei

Comuni Rurali Europei”.

Lungo la vecchia consolare Cassia che congiungeva

Roma a Firenze,nei pressi di Mercatale Valdarno la torre

di Galatrona,di origine medioevale,domina il paesaggio

del Valdarno e il crinale dei Monti del Chianti.

Bucine rises along the valley to the left of the Ambra

River and it has an area of 131 square kilometres and

about 10,000 inhabitants. The territory, which is rich in

structures offering agritourist farm accommodation, lends

itself to pleasant, relaxing holidays and to excursions to

the nearby cities of artistic and historical interest such as

Siena, Arezzo and Florence. Situated in the strip where

the furthermost hills of Chianti meet the higher valley of

the Arno the territory had settlements and was an area

of transit dating back to Roman times and the old bridge

at Pogi is clear testimony of this. A short distance from

the historical centre of the town is situated the parish

church of “ Galatrona” which houses a baptismal font

and a tabernacle both made from glazed earthenware by

Giovanni Della Robbia (1469 – 1529). Near Mercatale

Valdarno, along the old Cassia road which once linked

Rome and Florence the “Torre di Galatrona”, a tower of

medieval origin dominates the landscape of Valdarno

and the crests of the Chianti hills. A visit to the Xll

century castle at Cennina, which once belonged to the

Tarlati family, is of particular interest; from here one

can enjoy the splendid panorama of the valley below.

At present Bucine council, honoured with a gold medal

for civil valour represents Italy in the “European Charter of

Rural Communities”

E’ gemellato con Kitzingen(Baviera-Germania) dal 1984

e Betlemme (Palestina). Il triangolo Montevarchi, S.

Giovanni, Terranuova B. è terra di antica industrializzazione

ed ha un’economia attiva e differenziata, presente nei

settori alimentare, tessile, dell’ abbigliamento, delle

calzature, estrattivo, chimico, di trasformazione dei metalli

e d elettromeccanico.

Montevarchi è famosa anche per la presenza nel suo

territorio di due importanti istituzioni: l’Accademia del

Poggio e il Museo Paleontologico, entrambi situati

all’interno dell’ex convento di S. Lodovico, dove si può

visitare l’antico e stupendo chiostro del quattrocento.

Da alcuni anni nel comune di Montevarchi si sono

insediate importanti aziende del settore tessile e della

moda, come PRADA,che attirano tantissimi turisti e

stranieri che acquistano direttamente nelle fabbriche i loro

prodotti ormai famosi e conosciuti in tutto il mondo.

Montevarchi is a large residential centre (23,000

inhabitants) situated at the centre of the Arno valley;

Valdarno. The town has been twinned with Kitzingen,

(Bavaria, Germany ) since 1984 and also with Bethlehem,

Palestine. The triangle Montevarchi, San Giovanni,

Terranuova Bracciolioni is an area of long established

industrialization and has an active, diversified economy.

Industries in the alimentary, textile, clothing, footwear,

mining, chemical, metallurgic and electro-mechanical

sectors are present in the area. For some years important

companies in the textile and fashion industry such

as PRADA have set up in the area and these attract

numerous tourists and foreigners who are able to purchase

the companies’ world famous products directly from the

factories. Montevarchi is also famous for the “Accademia

del Poggio” and the Palaeontology Museum which are

both situated within the ex convent on St. Ludovico and

where it is also possible to see the splendid old fifteenth

century cloister.

Secondo lo storico Giovanni Villani,la città,che conta oggi

17000 abitanti fu costruita ex-novo con la “PROVVISIONE”

del 26 Gennaio 1299 allorchè, nell’ambito del contado

fiorentino, Firenze decide di consolidare, con un sistema

di presidi militari, il proprio controllo sulla vallata.

San Giovanni Valdarno,uno dei principali centri del

valdarno aretino e città natale di Masaccio,è situata

a metà strada tra Firenze e d Arezzo,in prossimità

del casello autostradale A1 Valdarno.Circondata da

colline,S. Giovanni che vanta un’antica tradizione

industriale,è anche una piccola città d’arte: il museo

della Basilica,Palazzo d’Arnolfo,Casa Masaccio…sono

solo alcune delle più importanti attrattive turistiche che

la città offre ai suoi visitatori. Suggestivo il centro storico

che,sviluppatosi nel medioevo, ha mantenuto la struttura

di Borgo Medioevale.Oggi S. Giovanni,sviluppatasi

anche in virtù di una storica attività nel settore vetrario,è

una città che ha saputo trovare il giusto equilibrio fra

arte e produzione industriale,commercio altamente

specializzato e servizi. S.Giovanni ha un piatto tipico

che recentemente ha ottenuto il marchio di UNICITA’ E

TIPICITA’ lo “STUFATO ALLA SANGIOVANNESE”. Si tratta

di uno spezzatino particolarissimo ricavato da carne delle

gambe anteriori di vitello adulto che dà al piatto un gusto

decisamente squisito.

According to the historian Giovanni Villani, the town which

today has 17,000 inhabitants, was re-built under the law

of 26th January 1299 when it was within the county of

Florence and Florence decided to consolidate its control

over the valley with a system of military garrisons. San

Giovanni, one of the main centres in Valdarno Aretino

is the birthplace of Masaccio. The town lies halfway

between Florence and Arezzo near the A1 motorway

exit for Valdarno. Surrounded by hills, San Giovanni

prides itself on its long standing industrial traditions but

it is also a small artistic town. The Basilica museum, the

Arnolfo palace and Masaccio’s house are just a few of

the more important tourist attractions the town has to offer

its visitors. The historical town centre which developed

in medieval times and has maintained the structure of a

medieval village is very charming. Today, San Giovanni,

which also developed due to a historic activity in glass

manufacture, is a town which has learnt how to find a just

balance between art and industrial production, highly

specialised commerce and services. San Giovanni has

a typical local dish “Stufato alla Sangiovannese” which

has recently received the trade mark for uniqueness and

typicality. This is a special stew made from meat taken

from the front legs of the adult calf which gives the dish a

decidedly exquisite flavour.

Secondo Giovanni Villani nella sua CRONICA,la città fu

fondata nel 1337 per volontà della repubblica fiorentina

e fu l’ultima “TERRA MURATA” nel territorio del valdarno

e fu così battezzata “TERRA NUOVA”.La seconda parte

del nome fu aggiunta nel 1862 e si riferisce all’umanista

Poggio Bracciolini che ivi nacque nel 1380.Situata sulla

riva destra dell’Arno comprende ampie zone collinari dove

si trovano alcune delle numerose frazioni.

Orgoglio della cittadina,il Palazzo dello sport,è stato

inaugurato nell’Ottobre 2008 ed è impiantisticamente

predisposto per : ”PALLACANESTRO-PALLAVOLO -

PALLAMANO - CALCETTO - GINNASTICA RITMICA

E ARTISTICA”. Vi è stata curata anche la tematica del

risparmio energetico, predisponendo l’edificio per un

impianto di riscaldamento a biomasse e a pannelli solari.

Con 600 posti a sedere e la possibilità di essere utilizzato

anche per convegni e spettacoli musicali, l’impianto

occuperà un ruolo importante per la popolazione e il

territorio.

According to Giovanni Villani in his chronicle, the town

was founded in 1337 by will of the Florentine Republic.

It was the last walled land in the territory of Valdarno and

was consequently named “Terra nuova” (new land). The

second part of the name was added in 1862 and refers

to the humanist Poggio Bracciolini who was born here in

1380. Situated on the right bank of the Arno it comprises

large areas of hills where some of the numerous hamlets

can be found. Pride of the town, the sports centre, which is

equipped for basket-ball, volley-ball, hand-ball, five-a-side

football and rhythmic and team gymnastics was opened

in October 2008. The building was built taking special care

over the theme of energy saving and has a biomass and

solar panel heating system. The centre has 600 seats

and its possible utility also for meetings and musical

performances mean that it will occupy an important role

for the population and the territory.

cittadinanza ha deciso di valorizzare il territorio, la sua

cultura, la sua storia e il suo patrimonio artistico.

Gemellata con il comune di MELLIEHA (Malta), Cavriglia,

9000 abitanti è stata per lunghi anni il paese delle

miniere.La lavorazione della lignite ha profondamente

marcato il territorio,la cultura e l’evoluzione economica

della comunità.Un qualificato programma di riforestazione

e un’attenzione particolare al paesaggio hanno fatto

sì che Cavriglia divenisse un luogo speciale per aria

pulita,silenzio,spazi verdi ecc.Una delle visite più

importanti in territorio di Cavriglia è data dal “ROSETO

BOTANICO”uno dei più grandi roseti del mondo,curato

personalmente dal Professor Gianfranco Fineschi.

In questo luogo sono raccolte circa 7000 varietà di rose.

Il roseto è visitabile dal 1° Maggio al 30 Giugno.Una

segnalazione interessante:nell’antico borgo

Di Montegonzi si può entrare a contatto con una piccola

realtà rurale dov’è nato un vino antichissimo e raro:

la “MALVAGIA”,ricordata dal Redi nel 1685 nel volume

”Bacco in Toscana”

“Life is better in Cavriglia”. This is the motto that the

citizens of Cavriglia have decided to use to best describe

the territory, its culture, its history and artistic heritage.

Twinned with the council of MELLIEHA (Malta), Cavriglia,

with 9,000 inhabitants was for many years a mining

town. The working of lignite has profoundly marked the

landscape, the culture and the economic evolution of the

community. A skilled programme of reforestation and care

of the landscape has permitted Cavriglia to become a

special place for clean air, silence, open spaces etc. One

of the most important places to see in the Cavriglia area

is the BOTANICAL ROSE GARDEN. This is one of the

largest rose gardens in the world containing more than

7,000 varieties of roses. Under the personal direction of

Professor Gianfranco Fineschi the rose garden is open

to the public from 1st May – 31st July. Another place of

interest is the ancient rural village of Montegonzi where

one can see at first hand where the very old, rare wine

“MALVAGIA” was born. A fact noted by Redi in 1685 in the

volume “Bacco in Toscana”.

Il comune è inserito nell’edizione 2009 della guida “I

BORGHI PIU’ BELLI D’ITALIA”.

Tra l’Arno e le pendici del Pratomagno,si snoda l’antica

strada dei Setteponti, dall’etrusca Arezzo fin quasi a

Firenze,culla del Rinascimento. Nella parte centrale del

suo tragitto la strada incontra Castelfranco Di Sopra, tra

il Casentino e la regione del Chianti. In ogni stagione

dell’anno si offrono al visitatore le colline dolcissime,i

vigneti,gli oliveti e i boschi della montagna in un’armonica

integrazione di storia,natura e cultura.Tutt’intorno le case

coloniche,le fattorie con l’olio e il vino, il territorio fiabesco

delle Balze,le riserve naturali,la solenne semplicità delle

Pievi Romaniche. Qui il viaggiatore potrà farsi catturare

dalla particolare atmosfera, dai piatti della tradizione

gastronomica toscana e potrà godere della serenità dei

luoghi.

Castelfranco di Sopra appeared in the 2009 edition of the

“Most beautiful villages(borghi) in Italy” guide. Between

the Arno and the slopes of Pratomagno the ancient “road

of the seven bridges” winds its way from Etruscan Arezzo

almost to Florence, cradle of Renaissance. In the middle

of its path, between Casentino and the Chianti region, the

road meets Castelfranco di Sopra . In every season of the

year the endearing hills, the vineyards, the olive groves

and the mountain woods offer themselves to the visitor in

a harmonious integration of history, nature and culture. In

the surrounding area are farmhouses, farms with oil and

wine, the fairytale area of rocky crag formations, nature

reserves and the solemn simplicity of Romanic churches.

Here the traveller can let himself be captured by the

special atmosphere, by the traditional dishes of Tuscan

gastronomy and he may enjoy the serenity of the places.

Il territorio ove sorge il comune di Laterina fu abitato fin da

tempi molto antichi,come testimoniano gli stanziamenti

etruschi ad IMPIANO e i probabili insediamenti

romani dell’epoca augustea presso l’antica:PIEVE DI

S.CASSIANO.Il toponimo di Laterina risale al latino

“LATERIS” cioè mattone,quindi fabbrica di mattoni;a

riprova di ciò la natura argillosa del terreno e la continua

presenza,fino ai giorni nostri,di numerose fornaci.In

epoca medioevale Laterina è un castello fortificato e

conteso,con varie vicissitudini,dall’Arezzo ghibellina e

dalla guelfa Firenze che aveva grossi interessi nelle terre

del Valdarno.

Appena fuori Laterina,si trova la villa di MONSOGLIO,una

delle più grandiose ville nei dintorni di Arezzo.E’ dotata

di un grande giardino all’italiana e di interni decorati con

affreschi. A pochi chilometri da Laterina incontriamo,

lungo l’Arno la “RISERVA NATURALE DELLA VALLE

DELL’INFERNO E BANDELLA”: 526 ettari legati alle aree

protette della provincia di Arezzo.Sono possibili visite

guidate ed attività didattico-culturali.

The territory where Laterina is found has been inhabited

since very ancient times and the Etruscan remains

at IMPIANO and the settlements of probable Roman

origin, of the Augustan era, at the old parish church of S.

CASSIANO, are a clear demonstration of this. The place

name Laterina comes from the Latin “LATERIS” which

means brick, consequently brick works; as confirmation

of this the clay soil and the contstant presence, until

the present day, of numerous kilns. In medieval times

Laterina was a fortified castle and was fought over with

various vicissitudes by the Ghibellina of Arezzo and the

Guelfa of Florence who had great interest in the lands

of Valdarno. Just outside Laterina you can find the villa

of MONSOGLIO, one of the most magnificent villas

in the area around Arezzo. The villa has a large Italian

style garden and an interior decorated with frescoes. A

few kilometers from Laterina, along the Arno is the nature

reserve of the “VALLE DELL’INFERNO AND BANDELLA”:

526 hectares which form part of the protected areas of

the Province of Arezzo. Guided tours of the reserve and

instructive, cultural activities are available.

Piccolo,ma ridente comune del valdarno superiore,Pergine

con i suoi 3200 abitanti rappresenta un centro di cultura

di notevole interesse.Dal 2002 la comunità è ”VILLAGGIO

CULTURALE D’EUROPA”. In collaborazione con

l’amministrazione comunale vengono organizzate diverse

iniziative con lo scopo di diffondere e valorizzare,in uno

spirito di amicizia e solidarietà,il folklore e le tradizioni

locali dei 12 villaggi europei gemellati.Strumento prezioso

per raggiungere tali obiettivi ,il gruppo folk ARCOBALENO

attraverso lo studio e la diffusione di canti e danze tipiche

del territorio toscano,porta in Europa uno spaccato della

nostra cultura.

La rassegna”Cinema e Socialità” ha come tema annuale

i rapporti tra generazioni e focalizza le problematiche più

importanti cui dobbiamo tutti rispondere per migliorare

la convivenza civile. Dal punto di vista del paesaggio

collinare,Pergine è ricco di insediamenti abitativi di matrice

storica e possiede un enorme patrimonio boschivo e

sistemi agricoli della vite e dell’olio che forniscono prodotti

di altissimo pregio.Da non perdere, infatti, la festa dell’olio

nuovo di Pergine, tra la fine di Novembre e l’inizio di

Dicembre.

Small, but delightful council in higher valdarno, Pergine with its 3,200 inhabitants is a cultural centre of notable interest. The community has been a “Cultural Village of Europe” since 2002 and various initiatives are organised in collaboration with the local council administration with the scope of spreading and making the most of the folklore and local traditions of the twelve European villages with which Pergine is twinned. These activities are organised in a spirit of friendship and solidarity and a precious instrument for reaching the objectives mentioned is the folk group ARCOBALENO (Rainbow). Through the study and diffusion of songs and dances typical to the Tuscan territory, the group takes a cross-section of our culture into Europe. The season of films “Cinema and Sociality” has as its annual theme the relationship between generations and focuses on the most important problems which we must all answer to in order to better civil cohabitation. Seen from its hilly landscape, Pergine is rich in housing settlements of historical origin and possesses an enormous heritage of woodland and farming systems of the vine and of the olive which supply products of very high quality. In fact, be sure not to miss the celebration of Pergine’s new oil between the end of November and the beginning of December.

5.700 abitanti in provincia di Arezzo,Loro Ciuffenna è un

ridente e operoso paese sotto il tetto del Pratomagno.

Il toponimo è attestato per la prima volta nel lontano

1050,dal latino LAURUS(Alloro),mentre Ciuffenna è il

nome del torrente che lo attraversa.Il nome del torrente fu

aggiunto a quello originario del paese nel 1863.

L’area sulla quale sorge oggi Loro Ciuffenna fu abitata

anticamente dagli ETRUSCHI come conferma Tito Livio

nel libro delle Storie. A Loro possiamo ancora visitare il

vecchio MULINO AD ACQUA(Anno 1100)più vecchio

della Toscana ed ancora funzionante.Esso viene utilizzato

anche in occasione della macinazione per la farina di

castagne,prodotto tipico del luogo.

Di notevolissimo pregio artistico la Pieve di San Pietro a

Gropina a “ due passi” dal paese.Essa rappresenta uno

degli esempi più alti della cultura romanica in Toscana.

Loro Ciuffenna, in the province of Arezzo, has 5,700

inhabitants and is a pleasant, busy town under the roof

of Pratomagno. The place name was certified for the first

time way back in 1050, from the Latin LAURUS (Laurel),

while Ciuffenna is the name of the torrent which crosses

the town. The name of the torrent was added to the original

place name in 1863. The area in which the town is situated

today was inhabited in ancient times by the ETRUSCANS

as Tito Livio confirms in the book of histories. In Loro

Ciuffenna it is still possible to visit the old water-mill (dated

1100) which is the oldest in Tuscany and is still in working

order. The mill is also used for the occasion of grinding the

chestnut flour, a typical local product. The parish church

of St Peter at Gropina, just a short distance from the town

is of considerable artistic value. It represents one of the

best examples of Romanic culture in Tuscany.

Alle pendici del Pratomagno sorge l’abitato di Pian Di

Sco’ con i suoi 5.500 abitanti. I primi insediamenti nella

zona sorsero nel corso del secolo undicesimo,quando

venne fondata La Pieve di Santa Maria attorno alla quale

la comunità si raccolse costruendovi le prime abitazioni.

All’inizio del quindicesimo secolo i MEDICI conquistarono

e dominarono tutti i possedimenti della zona ivi compreso

il paese di Pian Di Sco’ che sviluppò notevolmente la

propria economia dedicandosi alle coltivazioni rurali..

Attualmente l’economia locale si basa prevalentemente

sulla produzione cerealicola e ortofrutticola e sull’attività

delle industrie operanti nei settori meccanico e conciario.

Un appuntamento oggi da non perdere a Pian Di Sco’

è la FIERA NAZIONALE DEGLI UCCELLI che si tiene

annualmente all’inizio del mese di Ottobre.

Pian Di Sco’ with its 5,500 inhabitants is situated on the

slopes of Pratomagno. The first settlements in the area

appeared during the eleventh century when the church of

St. Mary was founded and the community gathered to build

the first houses around it. At the beginning of the fifteenth

century the Medici family conquered and dominated all

the estates in the area including the town of Pian Di Sco’

which considerably developed its own economy dedicating

itself to rural cultivation. At present the local economy is

predominantly based on the production of cereals, fruit

and vegetables and in activity in industries involved in

the mechanical and tanning sectors. An appointment to

remember in Pian Di Sco’ is the National Bird Fair which

is held every year at the beginning of October.
