PRESENT PERFECT

Page 3: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

Es. She has not brought me my tray yet.

PAST PERFECT

MODAL VERBS

I verbi modali ( can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should, must e ought) vengono usati davanti all’infinito di altri verbi e aggiungono ad essi un significato che può essere legato a un grado di certezza, di obbligo e di libertà di azione. I verbi modali hanno delle caratteristiche peculiari:

Page 14: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

MODAL VERBS

Page 15: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

I verbi modali sono verbi ausiliari e quindi le forme interrogative, negative e interrogative-negative si costruiscono come i verbi to be e to have.

Presente e futuro: can per tutte le persone Passato e condizionale: could per tutte le persone Forma negativa: cannot/can’t, could not/couldn’t

Forma interrogativa: can I? could I? etc,

Forma interrogativa negativa: /can’t I? Couldn’t I? etc.

Page 17: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

This evening Paul can go out  Laura pattina molto bene (è capace di farlo)Laura can skate very well

Page 18: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

Can I open the window? Puoi darmi quel libro, per favore? Can you give me that book, please?

Page 19: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

Nelle forme negative (can’t o cannot) can serve a negare un’autorizzazione o a indicare l’incapacità di svolgere una determinata azione.

Non puoi stare quiYou can’t stay here Non riesco a capirlaI can’t understand her

Page 20: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

Il Simple Past di can è could. La funzione è esattamente la stessa, cioè serve a esprimere potere come autorizzazione o come capacità.

Laura non sapeva pattinareLaura could not skate

Non potevi farlo! You could not do it!

Page 21: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

Può darsi che Paul venga oggiPaul may come today Può darsi che non ci chiamiHe may not call us

Page 22: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

Anche may, come can, si usa per fare delle richieste, ma in maniera più formale.

Page 23: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

MIGHT

Might, come may, esprime “possibilità” al presente o al futuro. Rispetto a may, might aumenta leggermente il “dubbio”.

Page 24: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

Esempio: Tom può prestarti i soldi Tom may lend you the

Page 25: Inglese scientificoLoredana Pancheri INGLESE SCIENTIFICO Master Management Master Geriatria.

inglese scientifico Loredana Pancheri

deve usare might Lui disse che lei poteva aver perso l’aereoHe said that she might have missed the plane
