GASTRONOMY
LEISURE TIME
THE IRON AND MINING ROUTEEnjoy a unique experience in the underground tunnels of disused mines, discover the world of fusion and the processing of iron hammers by visiting the magli and the blast furnace and admiring artifacts made by ValleTrompia artisans in the Museum of Weapons and Arm Traditions of Gardone V.T. Numerous and precious works will astonish visitors of all ages.
THE WOOD ROUTEIn order to rediscover rural tradition of our mountains, the tour starts from the Etnographic Museum of Lodrino.During beautiful season the path goes outside along beautiful trails where you can relive historical activities prevalent in this area (wolves hunting, coal production, etc) and major events in the history of the twentieth century, such as the Great War and the Resistance.
A red thread relates the town of Brescia with the Valley,
both from artistical and cultural point of view, with a series
of monumental buildings including some prestigious medieval towers
which have been converted to showcase areas and the Pietro Malossi
Home Museum situated in Ome.Furthermore, a devotional itinerary
made by parishes, cathedrals, churches, hermitages and sanctums allows visitors to admire exquisite
paintings and frescos that come from the Ferramola, Moretto and
Romanino’s school. But the real enticement of religious
tourism in the valley is given bythe Pope Paul VI’s Native Home in
Concesio and the Paul VI’s Collection of Contemporary Art, that houses
some international artists, like Chagalle, Picasso, Dalì,
Magritte and many more.
The landscapes of the high Valley are framed by the mountain peak settings of Dosso Alto, Alpe Pezzeda, Colombine, Muffetto, Maniva and Guglielmo, where the monument to the Redeemer and the bronze sculpture dedicated to Pope Paul VI stand out.In these peaks, nature reveals itself in all its majesty, along routes with rhododendrons and marmots, small alpine lakes, hill countries and woods far away from traffic and city noise.A place of particular interest is the Wide Area of Valgrigna Mountains, which is situated between the Trompia Valley and Camonica Valley, characterized by a unique cultural heritage, certified by Mesolithic Period proofs. For those who love stars, we recommend also the Astronomical Observatory on San Bernardo hill in Lumezzane.
The natural landscape of the high Trompia Valley, together with its proximity to Brescia city,
makes it the favourite destination for tourists who like nature and
open air sports. The skiing district Maniva Ski
with ski runs suitable to all degrees of difficulty, snowpark
and bobsled track represents an irresistible enticement for
the skiers who can also practice alpine skiing, ice skating and
walking with snow shoe.During good weather on our
mountains is possible walking through excursionistic paths
with varying degrees of difficulty and length (among these, the famous 3V Path, that crosses
the three main valleys of Brescia), horse-riding or cycling,
practice Nordic walking, go fishing, training with mountain bike
on mountain paths and the Mountain Bike Park Pezzeda tracks,
face rock climbings for amateurs and experts.
Real flagship and absolute pride of dairy production of the Trompia Valley is the homemade cheese Valtrompia D.O.P., derived from homemade and traditional milk production that comes from villages on our hills.Made by ancent methods and made more tasty with an addiction of a pinch of saffron, this full and strong flavor cheese can combine with formagelle, ricotta, butter of alpine hut, blue goats, stracchini and caciotte.Apart from cheese, honey and jamsrigorously biological and of high quality, mushrooms, chestnuts, mixed berries and peaches can’t be missed. International fairs and places where is possible to taste fruits and traditional dishes of the area are numerous, like casoncelli bresciani and traditional skewer with polenta e osei combined with savoury handmade cold cuts and homemade sausages.
