- 1989-1991: Dr Ferri from employed as assistant veterinarian at serology, diagnostics and food microbiology laboratories of Zooprophylactic Institute of Teramo, Italy, with duties related to testing animal samples for brucellosis and other zoonotic infectious disease and necroscopy and diagnostic tests
for animal infectious diseases.
- July 1991 to present: Dr Ferri is employed as veterinary officer at Veterinary Service of the Health Unit
of Pescara, with duties related to official controls on animal health, animal welfare and food safety. Specific tasks covered supervision of brucellosis and TBC eradication campaign, inspection and audit of
meat processing plants/slaughterhouses; management of TRACES system; management of internal quality system according to ISO 9001, developing standard operating procedures and related manuals

- Dr Ferri participated as veterinary expert to several veterinary technical assistance missions
financed by the EU Commission in the following countries: - Rumenia (Phare, 2000: preparation of technical specifications of regional animal health and food laboratories for their accreditation for the
diagnosis of list A and B diseases of OIE; - Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (2002: creation and implementation of bovine identification and movement control scheme and the setting-up of
bovine central database; - Armenia (Tacis, 2005: assessment of veterinary legal framework with
the aim to approximating veterinary and food safety legislation to EU requirement; - Kosovo (Tacis, 2005-2007: delivering theoretical and practical training on meat inspection and animal welfare
according to EU standards, with the overall objective to strengthen the Public Veterinary Services in Kosovo; - Slovack (Twinning, 2005); - Poland (Twinning, 2007), Macedonia (Europaid, 2007:

- Dr Ferri took part as veterinary expert to seventeen TAIEX missions among workshop and study visits to deliver training in food safety and veterinary public health for the implementation of the
acquis communautaire in the EU acceding countries. He has gained broad experience in evaluating food safety microbiological risk and assessing Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures (SPS).
- 2010-2011: Dr Ferri performed TAIEX assessment missions in Occupied Palestinian Territory and
Jordan on assessment of food safety system and SPS policies.
- May-June 2011: Dr Ferri as veterinary expert managed the BTSF (Better Training for Safer Food) for personnel employed by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance
(Rosselkhoznadzor). San Petersburg, Russian Federation.
- 2014-2015: Dr Ferri as veterinary expert managed several food safety training modules during an Europaid project in Beirut, Lebanon, with the general objective to strengthen the food safety
systems and to approximate the Lebanese legislation with the acquis communautaire.
- 2018-2020: Dr Ferri as veterinary expert-tutor participates to BTSF on “Auditing general hygiene requirements and control procedures based on the HACCP principles developed by food business operators”.
