Music itself
is going to
become
like running
water or
electricity.
Music is like water…
David Bowie in New York Times (2002):
“The absolute transformation of everything that we ever thought
about music will take place within 10 years, and nothing is going
to be able to stop it. I see absolutely no point in pretending that
it's not going to happen. I'm fully confident that copyright, for
instance, will no longer exist in 10 years, and authorship and
intellectual property is in for such a bashing.(…) Music itself is
going to become like running water or electricity.”
David Kusek and Gerd Leonhard (2005): The Future of Music:
Manifesto for the Digital Music Revolution.
“a future in which music will be like water: ubiquitous and free-
flowing”

Streaming
▪ Streaming-Plattformen haben unser Verhältnis zu Musik und
Bewegtbild verändert.
▪ Allgegenwärtig: auf allen Geräten, überall und jederzeit.
▪ Möglichst billig, wenn nicht sogar gratis.
▪ Veränderungen für die Musik- und Filmindustrie
▪ Musik-Umsatz weltweit 1996: 42 Mrd. US$, 2014: 15 Mrd. US$, 2018:
19 Mrd. US$, 60% digital
▪ Film-Boxoffice weltweit 2005: 23 Mrd. US$, 2019: 42 Mrd. US$
Boxoffice, VOD 2019: ca. 50 Mrd. US$, “Trolls World Tour”, “Mulan”
▪ YouTube-Werbeumsatz 2020: 20 Mrd. US$
▪ Facebook-Umsatz 2020: 85 Mrd. US$

Streaming
▪ Copyright is here to stay! Was ist rechtlich zu beachten?

Zahl der Abonnenten
Der YouTube-Markt
▪ In Summe haben die Top 100 Channels aus Österreich ein
Gesamtvolumen von rund 28 Mio. Abonnenten und 7 Mrd. Aufrufe.
▪ In Deutschland haben die Top 100 meistabonnierten YouTube-
Channels 177 Mio. Abonnenten und 53 Mrd. Aufrufe.
englischsprachigen Channels in Österreich erklären.

Ökonomische Bewertung
▪ Das YouTube-Partnerprogramm: Instream-Werbung (Pre-, Mid-,
Post-Roll), Overlay, Display, Infokarten etc.
▪ Weitere Monetarisierungsformen in der Verantwortung der Channel-
Betreiberinnen und -Bertreiber: Produktplatzierung, Affiliate

DiHost | Streaming 20
Ökonomische Bewertung
▪ Das YouTube-Partnerprogramm aus Sicht der Mediaplanung: Cost
per View (CPV): 4 bis 8 Cent (TrueView, d.h. gesamtes Video bzw.
30 Sekunden); für 1.000 TrueViews also 40,- bis 80,- Euro in
Abhängigkeit von Saison und Zielgruppe
▪ Bei wievielen Aufrufen wird Werbung ausgespielt? In der Analysephase
(13.4. bis 23.4.) nur in 32% der Channels
▪ Wieviel User benutzen Adblocker?
▪ Bei wievielen Aufrufen wird geskippt? (VTR liegt wahrscheinlich bei
15%)
▪ 45% der Einnahmen gehen an Google
▪ Das YouTube-Partnerprogramm aus Sicht der YouTuber: 1,- bis 2,5
Euro pro 1.000 Aufrufe
DiHost | Streaming 21

Content Marketing
▪ Hintergrund: Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit, Ad-Blocker

Why forecasting is important?
6Dr. Thomas Felberbauer | Neue.Wege nach Corona
Has to wait for 6 months to get his bycicle (therefore, he may
go to another store?)
How could this be avoided?
… yes - forecasting!
25.03.2021
Intro Why forecasting is important? Since the demand causes supply – the shop has to know beforehand
when the bicycles should be delivered so the shop forecasts according to historical data the demand 12 months ahead to consider the lead time of the manufacturer

Intro Why forecasting is important?
8Dr. Thomas Felberbauer | Neue.Wege nach Corona 25.03.2021
So why good forecasting is important?
Forecasting is present in our everyday lives:
Prevents delivery delays and long delivery times
Reduces costs and waste (also: stock, overtime)
Improves production and logistics planning
Improves resource use and planning
Reduces lost sales, overproduction, improves sales
Improves customer satisfaction
9Dr. Thomas Felberbauer | Neue.Wege nach Corona 25.03.2021
InnoFIT Project Major risks and problems caused by unavailable or
insufficient data on customer demand and customer orders (also poor forecasting)
Historical forecast evolution data is not stored in ERP systems
Project goal: Analysis of information uncertainties in forecasts through the
use of mathematical and statistical tools and models
Enhancement of forecast methods and models
Simulation, visualization and clustering studies for innovative forecasting in production planning
Improvement of existing processes, providing recommendations for improved forecasting methods in Austrian companies
