Voluta musica Linnaeus, 1758

Credo sia una delle specie più conosciute di

questa famiglia, grazie alle sue peculiari

caratteristiche, cioè il disegno e la colorazione,

che rendono questa una conchiglia unica e

inconfondibile.

Può capitare di trovare sulla superfice della

conchiglia una colorazione bizzarra, con un

disegno di cinque o più linee, proprio come un

pentagramma musicale! (chissà perché si chiama

musica!) e su queste trovare delle macchie di

colorazione proprio come se fossero vere e

proprie note.

I think it is one of the best known species

of this family, thanks to its unique

characteristics, that is, drawing and

colouring, which make this a unique and

unmistakable shell.

You may sometimes find on the surface of

the shell a bizarre coloration, with a five or

more line drawing, just like a musical staff!

(I wonder why they call music!) and on these

Nell’unico esemplare in mio possesso si

notano 6 righe e solo alcune macchie nemmeno

molto visibili che ho evidenziato nei circoletti

rossi.

In the only one copy in my possession you

are noticed only 6 lines and some spots even

very visible which I highlighted in red circles.

Mi sono quindi messo in cerca di una

immagine più adatta ai miei scopi e ho trovato

questo esemplare, di cui riporto solo un

dettaglio, che mostra proprio 5 righe e alcune

macchie più evidenti. Ho allora cercato di

ispirarmi ad esse per comporre un brano

musicale “malacologico” da offrire al nostro

progetto.

I then put myself in search of an image more

suited to my purposes and I found this

specimen, of which I carry out only a detail,

showing exactly 5 lines and some more

obvious spots. I then tried to inspire to them to

compose a piece of "Malacological"music to

offer to our project.

Ho riportato le macchie su un pentagramma

e, una volta trasformato il disegno in note, ho

scelto quelle che rientrino in una tonalità

precisa e possibile.

Ho iniziato poi a darle un ritmo che

rispettasse un’idea melodica, qui entra l’arte

del compositore nel trovare una melodia

fantasiosa, che inizialmente può essere banale

ma con un buon sviluppo tematico può

diventare interessante.

tonalità di Do Maggiore, con un ritmo di 4/4.

A questo punto ho sviluppo la melodia e ho

provveduto all’arrangiamento del brano.

chosen for the melody, a simple arpeggio in

the key of C major, with a rate of 4/4.

At this point I develop the melody and I
