Research interests: conducting research on climate change effects on forests,

carbon budget of terrestrial ecosystems, direct measurements of carbon

sink/source in terrestrial ecosystems. Other activities: forest monitoring, Long

Term Ecological Research. Biodiversity research.

Responsibility of 4 experimental sites in forest ecosystems with intensive

ecological and forest/atmosphere measurements. Coordinator of one LTER Site

(Forests of the Apennines). Coordination and tutorage of 5 PhD students.

Lead author for Intergovernamental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for the

report Good Practice Guidance on Land-Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry,

GPG-LULUCF, 2003). The contribution was officially acknowledged with a

diploma after the awarding of the Nobel Prize for Peace to IPCC in 2007.
