2015 | X FLORENCE BIENNALE

The X Edition will be an occasion to celebrate twenty years of Florentine history by virtue of the contents of the exhibition, performances and initiatives to be held concurrently with the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Florence was the capital of Italy Risorgimento and the EXPO Milano 2015.

The Fortezza da Basso, a Renaissance masterpiece of military architecture, that since 1967 has been the main center for exhibitions in Florence, strategically located in the historical center. The Fortezza is the ideal venue for events of high artistic value, its evocative charm recalls the splendor of the Medici governance.Since 1999, the Florence Biennale is held in the Spadolini Pavilion, after the first edition in 1997 that was held in the nearby Palazzo degli Affari. Now for 20 years, the Bien-nale comes to life and thrives within its walls, in 11,000 square meters of exhibition space. In addition, there are spaces dedicated to collateral events, performances and con-ferences, for the public to experience the atmosphere of an international review of contemporary artists who come to Florence from over 70 countries around the world.

Linea Spazio Arte Contemporanea

LINEA Spazio Arte Contemporanea was conceived by the organizers of the Florence Biennale; that for some time have had the desire to create an new ongoing space for the promotion of contemporary art and culture in the heart of Florence. A new space for contemporary art developed to be a halfway point between the museum and gallery as well as a mee-ting point between the past and present. In addition to the deep cultural roots that characterize this city, it is also an important motivator to look beyond the horizon of the international art scene and bring it in contact with those who live this city. The focus of LINEA is to highlight both national and international arti-sts, of vast multifarious disciplines, subjects and mediums thus creating

a LINEA (line) between the past and present-day international artistic reality, with a particular attention to emerging artist.

The space can accommodate individual and group exhibitions, with 56 linear meters of exhibition surface. The spacious exhibition halls allow space for installations and sculptures for a maximum height of 3 meters. The beautiful garden can accommodate outdoor sculptures/installations of over 4 meters in height and host inauguration cocktails. This polyfun-ctional space and can be used to host book presentations, lectures, mi-ni-conferences, cultural events and much more.
