This publication has been produced by the DGC team

over two weeks time. Inside are contained thoughts

shared between students, tutors and Industry partners

about some topics that interests the uture designers

rom the FDA/BA, Design or Graphic Communication .

02 ISTD: FLATLAND

The book Flatland is a journey o a square seeking out the

discovery o the truth about dierent dimensions. The aim

o this new edition is to allow the reader to experience a

journey similar to the main character. The typography and

the books structure are both designed to underline this

purpose. The nal design is the culmination o a variousdierent experiments. All these experiments lead me to

approach the typography in a more classical but denitely

mature way. The ormat originally began as a composition

by nested boxes. Each box represented a dimension and

the text o the book was printed on the containers and/

or placed inside. The nal edition is a translation o this

concept to paper, with the transormation becoming more

practical in some cases, but more accessible in all.

03 A WAKING LIFE MERCHANDISING

This sel-initiated project is a tribute to A Waking Lie,

movie directed by Richard Linklater. Using my own

photography and graphic elements, I tried to produce a

memorable and intense set o postcards, containing on the

ront imagery and on the back some sentences extracted

rom the script o the movie. This postcards, with theDVD o the movie and the poster, are contained inside an

handmade older.

04 USCREATES KEEP IN TOUCH POSTCARDS

Live project with Uscreates. The aim was to produce a set o

keeping in touch postcards directed to clients, associates,

peers, volunteers and interns.

I created a series o mirrored smiling cards, that would

make the receiver smile and that would be kept and

represents the dynamic, young and positive vibes oUscreates. To increase the engagement o the public with

my idea, I projected a way o creating a conversation

between the Uscreates target audience. I planned to build

up a web page linked to Uscreates website were it would

be possible nd dierent suggestions (with explicatory

drawings) o where to put the postcards and the possibility

to share new ones with the other Uscreates people.

05 REALITY IS AN ILLUSION

Sel initiated projects aimed to use typography in a

experimental way. Each 3D solid is built with some readable

text extracted by three dierent texts that deal with the

vision o the reality perceived by the human beings .This

topic is considered rom dierent point o views: Philosophy,

Religion and Science. The solid o the talk about Philosophycontains The Myth o the Cave rom The Republic written

by Plato in 360 B.C.E, the one about Religion, some text

rom Vivekachudamani written by Shankaracharyaand and

the one about Science one o the chapter extracted rom

Relativity Theory, Albert Einstein 1922.
