The traditional Arab house is characterised by its structural clarity and subtle beauty, which can be visualized as being generated from its plan and scaled by the human body. In fact the forms and spaces of the Arab house were dictated by the habits, traditions, and culture of its inhabitants.

The subtle architectural quality of these houses and the positive effect of their images do not only come from their deliberate plans, but also from their imposing exteriors. The aesthetic of the Arab house comes from the harmony of putting the architectural elements together as well as juxtaposing them in order to provide variety and visual interest.

Page 9: Dmontanari landscape sw 2014

The most outstanding characteristics of the Arab house come mainly from its array of elements that were tested by people’s traditions and culture, and environmental needs. Mud construction is an extremely environmentally- friendly method as it creates little waste, there is minimal energy consumption (mostly in the construction and transportation process), and it is easy to maintain and recycle. The materials used in the construction of the mud houses are stones, clay and timber. it involves placing stones and drenched clay in a rectangular stone frame.A coating of lime is made at the lower part of the edifice. The roof is made of timber, palm trunks and leaves, and tamarisk or willows.White lime is used for the firmness of pillars of the house and also to add to the elegance of the muddy color of the coating at the lower part of a house.

It is not uncommon to find beautiful san dunes that reach up to 250 meters or more. The sandy desert surrounding the city supports wild grasses and occasional date palms. Desert hyacinths grow in thesabkha plains east of the city, while acacia and ghaf trees grow in the flat plains within the proximity of the Western Al Hajar mountains.

The emirate is known around the world as a global city as well as a business center and financial center. What is not really known is its natural landscape:The Empty Quarter desert offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the region. Amazing sand dunes can be found in this region of the United Arab Emirates.

Wanted by the community of Coriano and realized by the collaboration of the ‘Association 58 boys’, citizen, family and public administration, the monument in memory of the young rider Marco Simoncelli is the space of every citizen.

Page 19: Dmontanari landscape sw 2014

This monument is not only a simple tribute to a great of the sport, but a heartfelt celebration and memorial to a fellow citizen, Marco

The monument to Marco Simoncelli is a space for the many fans to leave a memory, a flower and maybe take a picture; but it is also a space for children, teens, adults and seniors of Coriano to stop and sit in the shade, to think, to speak and to look at what is around them.

It was an important opportunity for the redevelopment a small part of the historical city center, to reactivate a space otherwise used as a passage.

The monument is located along the city avenue Giuseppe Garibaldi, in a small lawn sloping to the left of the stairs leading to the church, opposite the Cultural Palace, in which there is the museum dedicated to Marco.

Designed as an open space along the footpath, the idea was to create a place to stop, where the monument appears as a small square under the trees, directly accessible from the pedestrianized path.

A simple sitting, conceived as a continuous and fluid element, reminiscent of a racing track curve, invites passers-by to come in and to look out in this new corner of the town; while closing the composition and bringing attention to the center where three square blocks of different heights are inserted, similar to a racing podium. The highest podium houses the inscription to the champion, made in collaboration with the artist Aldo Drudi.

To Design according to the energy production or design a site to be lived in contact with the environment around us? Some of the new technologies for solar energy production require specific locations, safe in the event of accident, but also from tampering, becoming bounded places, regulated and not open to everyone.

“10 KM WALKING THROUGH” is a place free to be lived, a physic link between Scilla and Bagnara, responsible for creating new perspectives, new visions of nature and humankind in the territory. A new Calabrian symbol for Calabria; a new identity fused in energy and nature, with a familiar design, simple and useful.

A recognized Calabrian pattern used to design and create happenings along the road, to involve people and turist to relax in new oasys on the highway. “10 KM WALKING THROUGH” maintains a high standard of habitability mixing energy production and opportunities for outdoor recreation.

X-SOLAR is a photovoltaic “umbrella” easily oriented, that creates an useful shadow that helps the walk and leaves the main ground free to be used unlike the common solar panels. The laboratories and all the machineries are located inside tunnels where the main course is separeted from the factory zone.

The kinetic pavement is recognized by the coloured stripes. The white areas are places where walkers can relax on different “green” blocks: grass carpet, mediterrean plants. New oasys made by green and water collector blocks that improve habitats for fauna and flora. “10 KM WALKING THROUGH” is the Calabrian terrace.

PENTAMARK is a variable pattern, born on the geometric shape of the pentagon Vanvitelliana Mole, landmark of the city of Ancona, connecting the old town center with residential areas adjacent to the Victory Avenue, reaching the Passetto war memorial and the sea to the east.

The PENTAMARK shares the shape of the Mole, symbol of the city, to be a highly recognizable and familiar element along the Porto-Passetto.Pentamark enables the citizen to clearly read the entire urban expressway, through its form, and the use of open space.

The pattern application suggests a different mode and pace along a linear space, creating new opportunities, new meeting places and staging, but also economic growth to the present activities along the axis.

The Pentamark makes a perfect splice between urban and nature: continuous movement of the sea is taken along the line due to the grasses swaying to every breath of wind and water tanks burst of green alternating with terraces on Corso Garibaldi, Piazza Cavour becomes the new urban park of Ancona, Victory Avenue a system immersed in living color and green.

The project seeks to vary the appearance of the four urban areas of intervention by modeling space as needed, but especially by creating new atmospheres to dive to enjoy the city. The director is not just a simple linear element but a living space, meter by meter.PENTAMARK is outdoors, an accelerator of social life.

In reponse to the Municiplity of Florence’s request to promote art movements born in Florence less known to the public than the renaissance, the University of Architecture of Florence was asked to study different exhibitions and installation ideas along the north Arno River Park to shed light on the 1900s Art movements in Florence and Tuscany.

Page 39: Dmontanari landscape sw 2014

39

Firstly, The Arno River was used as a screen with projections designed in spirit of each art movement. To add a vertical attraction, the temporary bridge, Ponte da Verazzano, was covered by an interactive glass display tunnel to be enjoyed from within and seen by walkers. Lastly, the Verazzano Bridge was the istallation space of dynamicly arranged panels with unique graphics dedicated to each of the 1900’s art movements.

Futurism, Informal Classical, Visual Poetry, and Radical were In cronological order the main art movements of the last century in Florence. the icons of Florence were used as promoter spaces to inform the public of Florence’s many art offerings.

The project includes a prototype of about 18 sqm of easy assembly modular upon tall trees, as proposed in the competition organized by L.I.P.U.in 2006. A careful study on the resistance of trees loaded by the structure was made, slip in wet or dry soil, bending or cutting crown of the tree and evaluating the strength of the wind, against horizontal and vertical structure simulations.

The module takes up the shape of a bird’s nest, from which it draws inspiration. It is also strongly attracted to the architecture of many primitive tribes of Central and South America as well as Papua New Guinea or some nomadic Mongol tribes. It is built entirely of biocompatible materials such as stalks of bamboo for the frame, a material highly resistant to compression and bending, pre-compressed straw as insulation, bamboo leaf cut to contain the insulation.

This prototype has made it possible to construct many platforms how the diameter of the trunk of the tree allows. This bolting system resist to shear and compression, but not jeopardize the vital functions of the tree since penetrates no more than 14 cm in the cortex, which in a short course reabsorbs the “wound” supplementing it.Bolts are welded to the brackets to the beams, which finally support the platform.

The building is supported to the trunk of the tree through a particular structure Glimb named such the inventor Michael Garnier with which i was undertaken an intensive exchange of ideas and suggestions. The coverage and the facade circulated to “nest” are made integral to the platform by means of rings in which is passed the frame made from bamboo trunks, “drowned” in the compressed straw. It has also provided a heating system with high efficiency solar vacuum tube for winter bird-watching sessions, though very rare.
