“Il mito è insomma una norma, lo schema di un fatto avvenuto una

volta per tutte, e trae il suo valore da questa unicità assoluta che lo

solleva fuori del tempo e lo consacra rivelazione. Per questo esso

avviene sempre alle origini, come nell'infanzia: è fuori del tempo.”.

E continuiamo a citare brutalmente lo scrittore di Santo Stefano

Belbo, perché sarà ancor più illuminante sulla strada della

comprensione della issue estetica e narrativa di questa pubblicazione:

“Ora, carattere, non dico della poesia, ma della fiaba mitica è la

consacrazione dei luoghi unici, legati a un fatto a una gesta a un

evento. A un luogo, tra tutti, si dà un significato assoluto, isolandolo

nel mondo. Cosí sono nati i santuari. Cosí a ciascuno i luoghi

dell'infanzia ritornano alla memoria; in essi accaddero cose che li han

fatti unici e li trascelgono sul resto del mondo con questo suggello

mitico”.

Aggiungendo un ultimo tassello che dovrebbe aiutarci a chiudere il

cerchio: l’unicità del luogo è parte, del resto, di quella generale unicità

del gesto e dell'evento, assoluti e quindi simbolici, che costituisce

l'agire mitico. Una definizione non retorica di questo sarebbe: fare

una cosa una volta per tutte, che perciò si riempie di significati e

sempre se ne andrà riempiendo, in grazia appunto alla sua fissità non

piú realistica. Nella realtà naturale nessun gesto e nessun luogo vale

più di un altro. Nell'agire mitico (simbolico) è invece tutta una

COS’È UN MITO? E UN LUOGO MITICO? CONSENTIAMOCI DI SCOMODARE IL GRANDE CESARE PAVESE, E LE RIFLESSIONI CHE

PROPOSE AI SUOI LETTORI NEI CELEBRI SAGGI SUL MITO, PER PROVARE ACOMPRENDERLO. E PER INTUIRE IL PERCHÉ DELL’OMAGGIO CHE CESARE ATTOLINI FA,

CON QUESTA PUBBLICAZIONE, ALLA CORTINA DEGLI ANNI CINQUANTA.

gerarchia. Cortina allora è proprio tale. Un mito. Un luogo fuori dal

tempo, dal significato assoluto. Simbolico. Perché? Non per le sue

bellezze naturalistiche, né architettoniche, né paesaggistiche. O

meglio, non propriamente per nessuna di queste caratteristiche

estetiche. Anche se quanto mai suggestive e affascinanti. Piuttosto

perché è qui che, ad inizio degli anni Cinquanta, sono avvenuti una

serie di gesti ed eventi assoluti e simbolici appunto. Nel pieno del

periodo di rinascita economica nazionale post bellica, è proprio qui che

si riversa il segmento più elitario della società per dare libero sfogo alla

volontà di rifiorire, di tornare a vivere. E i gesti e gli eventi assoluti

finiscono per alimentare questo mito: i celeberrimi festeggiamenti del

Capodanno; la nascita della pratica di uno sport nuovo ed esclusivo, lo

sci; il sorgere, negli anni successivi, di una nuova idea di vacanza, la

settimana bianca. Ed è così che Cortina è diventata mito e quindi

sinonimo di un’idea ben precisa di stile di vita, che si cristallizza

nell’immaginario diffuso, divenendo così senza tempo.

Questa pubblicazione vuole dunque essere un’occasione per omaggiare

il mito Cortina. Quel mito che dalla fine degli anni Cinquanta sino

agli Ottanta, non a caso, ha attirato il meglio della produzione

cinematografica internazionale che immaginava, o forse sperava,

ambientandovi le scene dei propri film, di catturare con le macchine da

presa quell’atmosfera magica, irripetibile e pregnante alla sua maniera

e che solo lì si poteva respirare. E’ un omaggio da parte di chi ha saputo

ridisegnare, con un evento assoluto e pochi gesti taumaturgici, l’imago

fluens dell’uomo occidentale. Di chi si rifiuta categoricamente di usare

la parola “collezione” per raccontare i capi che di stagione in stagione

pensa e produce esclusivamente a mano, uno a uno, assoluti. Da chi

resiste all’inesorabile processo di omologazione e volgarizzazione

dell’idea di eleganza maschile. Da chi fa del sapere e del saper fare di

generazioni, dell’insostituibile sapienza dei suoi sarti, della

personalizzazione e della cultura del bello, valori fondanti ed

irrinunciabili. Da chi, a sua volta nel tempo, da quella prima giacca

realizzata nel 1930 proseguendo con tutte quelle che sono seguite nei

decenni, ha fatto di sé senza accorgersene più di tanto un mito dello stile

italiano nel mondo, grazie ad una formula semplicissima: autenticità e

coerenza del proprio pensiero e dei propri manufatti. Ecco perché oggi

chi pensa alla scuola sartoriale partenopea e ad un’idea di eleganza

impeccabile e disinvolta non può che pensare a Cesare Attolini.

natural beauties, or architectural, or for its landscape. Or better, not

really for any of these aesthetic characteristics. Although very

impressive and fascinating. Rather because it is here that, at the

beginning of the Fifties, happened a series of symbolic gestures and

absolute events. In full of the period of post-war national economic

revival, it is precisely here that pours the most elite segment of society

to give free rein to the will to thrive, to live again. And the absolute

actions and events end up fueling this myth: the famous New Year

celebrations, the birth of a new and exclusive sport, skiing, the rise, in

subsequent years, of a new idea of holiday, the ski holiday. And that's

why Cortina has become a myth and so synonymous with a clear idea

of lifestyle, which crystallizes in popular imagination, becoming

timeless. This publication is so intended to be an homage to the myth

Cortina. That myth that from the late fifties to the eighties, not

surprisingly, has attracted the best of the international film industry

that imagined, or perhaps hoped, that by setting here the scenes of its

movies would have captured that magical, unrepeatable and

meaningful atmosphere that could only be breathe there.

It 'a tribute from those who knew how to redesign, with a few gestures

and miraculous events, the imago fluens of the Western man. Of those

who flatly refuses to use the word "collection" to tell the garments that

season after season think and produces only by hand, one by one. From

those who resist the inexorable process of approval and popularization

of the idea of masculine elegance. From who makes of the knowledge

and the know-how of generations, of the irreplaceable wisdom of its

tailors, customization and of the culture of beauty, core and essential

values. From who, in turn over time, from that first jacket made in

1930 going on with all the models that followed, has made of itself

without even realizing that much an Italian myth in the world, thanks

to a very simple formula: authenticity and consistency of its thinking

and of its own handiworks.

That's why today who thinks about the Neapolitan tailoring school

can only think about Cesare Attolini.
