Cari amici della musica corale,

La città di Riva del Garda, situata sulle rive del suo bel-lissimo lago esercita una forte attrazione sui cori di tutto il mondo. Se non fosse così come si potrebbe spiegare il successo del Concorso Corale Internazionale che porta il suo nome ormai dal 1990 e di cui quest’anno celebriamo la dodicesima edizione A nome di INTERKULTUR sono lieto di darvi il benvenuto qui a Riva del Garda con l’auspicio che possiate trascorrevi momenti di emozionante successo. Vorrei anzitutto esprimere un doveroso ringraziamento a tutti coloro i quali, infaticabili, si sono dedicati a questo progetto, per il contributo che hanno saputo dare alla riu-scita di questo successo rendendo questo festival uno tra i più importanti appuntamenti di INTERKULTUR.Quest’anno 38 cori si sono dati appuntamento qui a Riva del Garda per celebrare questa festa della musica in uno dei più suggestivi angoli del mondo, per ascoltare altri cori, esibire le proprie capacità e riscuotere il meritato successo. I protagonisti di questa edizione arrivano quest’anno da ben 15 nazioni: essi non sono qui soltanto per cantare insieme, ma anche per conoscere e conoscersi, in sintonia con il nostro ideale: costruire ponti tra nazioni così diverse tra loro. La disponibilità ad apprendere dalle altre culture ne presuppone il rispetto e l’accettazione, e a questo scopo pensiamo che INTERKULTUR abbia dato e dia costante-mente un contributo.

I festival di INTERKULTUR rappresentano il momento di maggior successo della scena corale mondiale. In questi ventiquattro anni migliaia di coristi di tutti i continenti hanno partecipato alle nostre manifestazioni organizzate in tutto il mondo. Nel luglio di quest’anno si svolgerà a Cincinnati (USA) la settima edizione dei World Choir Games, l’appuntamento più importante in assoluto per la comunità corale mondiale, per la quale svolge un ruolo decisivo: pensiamo alla straordinaria opportunità offerta alla causa della comprensione tra i popoli.E già siamo proiettati al prossimo traguardo dei World Choir Games che nel 2014 si svolgeranno per la prima volta nei Paesi Baltici: cori di tutto il mondo si incontreranno a Riga (Lettonia) per festeggiarne insieme a noi l’ottava fantastica edizione. In autunno seguiranno altri nuovi festi-val in Spagna, Vietnam e la prima edizione del Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships che si svolgerà a Guangzhou (Cina).Ma prima lasciamoci incantare dalla primavera qui nell’idil-liaca cornice del lago di Garda, gioiendo di questo momento in compagnia dei nostri cori arrivati sin qui da quindici Paesi e accompagnateci aiutandoci nella missione di ripor-tare al centro il valore del rispetto reciproco tra i popoli di tutto il mondo, traguardo del messaggio di INTERKULTUR.

Dear friends of choral music,

The town of Riva, located here on the magnificent Lake Garda, has a special charm for choirs from all over the world. This explains the continuing success of the „Con-corso Corale Internazionale Riva del Garda“, which we celebrate this year already for the 12th time since the start in 1990. On behalf of INTERKULTUR I would like to welcome you very warmly to Riva del Garda and wish you exciting and successful days. I also would like to thank all the hard-working helpers, who have contributed their share to the success of this choir competition and who ensure that our music festival will become an unforgettable event. This year 38 choirs have made their way to the 12th Concorso Corale Internazionale. What they want in the first place is to celebrate music at one of the most beautiful places in the world, listen to other choirs and be successful themselves. Our choirs come to Riva del Garda from 15 countries. They have come in order to sing together, to make friends and to "build bridges" between this great variety of the dif-ferent nations. And this requires the individual's readiness to learn about and to respect the culture of other people. With our INTERKULTUR events we believe to have given and to give our contribution to this goal.The INTERKULTUR festival series is the most successful choral event in the world since 24 years. Thousands of

singers from all continents visited our events in different parts of the world. This year, in July, the 7th World Choir Games will be held in Cincinnati (USA) and open this unique world choir festival to a new continent. Being the biggest choir competition in the world, this global event plays a decisive role in the international community of choirs. We believe that there is no better way to foster international understanding. And we already look forward to the next aims: In July 2014 the 8th World Choir Games for the first time will touch Baltic area! Singers from all over the world meet in Riga (Latvia) to celebrate this fantastic feast of music. And in autumn of this year we have new festivals in Spain, Vietnam and China with the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships which will be held in Guangzhou. But first, be enchanted by the springtime here at the idyllic Lake Garda. Enjoy the meeting with choirs from so many countries, help develop mutual respect and understanding among the peoples, thus following and furthering the ideals of INTERKULTUR.

Il canto e i colori sono tra gli elementi che più di ogni altro parlano delle diverse culture e dei tanti popoli del mondo; da questo balcone, dal quale come ogni anno i partecipanti al Concorso corale internazionale ricevono il più caloroso benvenuto nella nostra città, si notano soprattutto i colori. Ognuno dei quali ha dietro a sé una storia millenaria, il ricordo di vicende che hanno per protagonisti interi popoli, il fascino e la suggestione di un frammento del grande arcobaleno che è l’umanità. Il canto, invece, quello lo sentiremo nelle sedi delle esibi-zioni, dove però – lo sappiamo bene – non riesce a rima-nere rinchiuso; ha voglia di farsi sentire, il canto, di uscire all’aperto, di incontrare tanta gente, e noi Rivani sappiamo che ce la farà; che riuscirà ad uscire e a gironzolare libe-ramente nella nostra città. Sappiamo dagli anni passati che in questi quattro giorni di Concorso corale internazionale il canto di tutto il mondo saranno in ogni angolo della nostra città, non solo durante le esibizioni ma anche nei diversi momenti della giornata, proveniente dalle finestre degli alberghi, dai tavolini dei bar, dalle stesse strade e piazze in cui i coristi sappiamo non si tirano indietro da quello che

amano fare: cantare. Forse lo fanno per allenarsi; oppure per calmare l’emozione, chissà; ma a noi piace pensare che il canto sia un linguaggio di fratellanza, incontro e vicinanza, e che di fronte ad un appuntamento così bello, ad una situazione così suggestiva, e infine in una città così felice di ospitarli, per i coristi sia impossibile resistere alla tentazione di cantare. Oltre al più caloroso benvenuto, vi voglio rivolgere il sen-tito ringraziamento della città per la vostra presenza che costituisce per noi tutti un momento di arricchimento impa-gabile, oltre che motivo d’orgoglio. Auguro a tutti voi un sereno soggiorno sul lago, la piena gratificazione per tutto l'entusiasmo e per l'impegno che esprimete attraverso la passione per il canto corale, e il migliore esito per questa bellissima manifestazione.

Singing and colours belong to the elements which best talk about the different cultures and the numerous peoples of the world; from this balcony, from which, like every year, the participants to the International Choir Competition are warmly welcomed in our town, you notice especially the colours. Every colour has an ancient history and reminds to events whose protagonists are whole peoples. It has the fascination and the charm of a fragment of the big rainbow that is mankind.On the other hand, we will hear singing in the performances venues. But – as we know – it won’t be shut up there; the songs want to be heard, to go outside, to meet many people. And we, the citizens of Riva del Garda, know that they will manage it, they will be able to go out and wander through our town freely. From the past years we know that during these four days of the International Choir Competi-tion there will be songs from all over the world in every corner of our town, not only during the performances, but also in the different moments of the day: they will come from the windows of the hotels, from the tables of the cof-fee bars, from the streets and squares themselves where

the members of the choirs don’t stop doing what they love to do – that is: singing.Maybe they sing to practise or to calm down the excite-ment, who knows, but we like to think that songs are a language of brotherhood, meeting and closeness, and that it’s impossible for the members of the choirs to resist the temptation to sing on the occasion of such a beautiful appointment, in such a fascinating situation and – last but not least – in a town which is so happy to have them as guests.I warmly welcome you and I want to thank you sincerely on behalf of the town for your presence which is a great priceless moment of enrichment and reason of pride for all of us. I wish you all a peaceful staying on the lake, the full gratification for the enthusiasm and zeal you express through your passion for the choral music, and success for this wonderful event.

E' per noi un piacere rinnovare ogni anno la nostra acco-glienza e ritrovarvi, sempre così numerosi, in questo nostro concorso. Anche per questa edizione vede la partecipazione di diverse nazioni, ben 15, provenienti da diversi Paesi del mondo!In questi vent'anni di attività – li abbiamo festeggiati l'au-tunno scorso con il concorso “In canto sul Garda” – sono decine di migliaia i coristi che si sono ritrovati nella nostra città, per partecipare alle nostre iniziative.I nostri appuntamenti contribuiscono così, alla diffusione della musica canora nelle sue molteplici forme, ma anche alla costruzione di incontri, di amicizie, fra voi, fra i popoli, e alla diffusione di una cultura più ampia, quale quella che i rapporti umani riescono a costruire.Il collante di tutto questo è il canto, come voi sapete fare, trasmettendo emozioni, tradizione e qualità.Ringrazio quindi voi di aver voluto partecipare al Concorso, i nostri collaboratori per il loro prezioso lavoro e Interkultur,

Welcome to Riva del Garda,Welcome to the 12th International Choir Competition!

It’s a pleasure for us to give you hospitality every year and welcome such a big number of you to this competition, as usual. Many different nations participate also in this edi-tion: 38 choirs from 15 countries from all over the world!During these 20 years of activity – we celebrated this anniversary last autumn with the competition “In canto sul Garda” – thousands of members of the choirs have met in our town and participated in our events.So our events help in the promotion of the choir music in its many forms. They also help in building contacts and rela-tionships among you, among the peoples, and in spreading the bigger culture that human relations can build.Singing like you do, giving emotions, tradition and quality, is the glue for this.Therefore I thank you for your participation in the Com-petition, our collaborators for their precious work and Interkultur for the organisation skills they always put at our disposal.

Last but not least, I’d like to thank our supporters for their precious help, especially the town administration of Riva del Garda and the Autonomous Provincial Administration of Trento.I wish all the participants a pleasant stay in our town and that you can obtain the results you are determined to get with your participation in the International Competition in Riva del Garda.

Associazione Concorso Corale Internazionale - Riva del Garda

È stata costituita il 17 dicembre 1991 per volontà di un gruppo di appassionati del canto corale che, su invito dell’allora Sindaco Enzo Bassetti, hanno dato vita ad una associazione di volontariato senza scopo di lucro, ma con finalità diversificate, sempre nell’ambito corale, quali ad esempio l’organizzazione di concorsi e festival, manife-stazioni di carattere concertistico, corsi di perfezionamento musicale, seminari, laboratori, pubblicazioni e mostre.Dalla sua fondazione ad oggi si è assunta la responsabilità dell’organizzazione di undici edizioni del Concorso Corale Internazionale e di nove edizioni del concorso “In... Canto sul Garda” (entrambi a cadenza biennale). L’As-sociazione svolge la sua attività con il contributo del Comune di Riva del Garda, della Provincia Autonoma di Trento e della Federazione Cori del Trentino, nonché attraverso l’opera volontaristica di un folto gruppo di appassionati del canto corale. E’ retta da un Consiglio Direttivo, la cui presidenza per anni è stata affidata al compianto Sig. Gian Carlo Boschin, attualmente dalla signora Lorena Giuliani e si avvale della consulenza artistica di straordinari Maestri, quali il prof. Giovanni Acciai e il prof. Riccardo Giavina.

The Associazione Concorso Corale Internazionale Riva del Garda was founded on 17th December 1991 by a group of choral lovers who were asked by the Mayor of the time, Enzo Bassetti, to give life to a non-profit making or-ganisation of volunteers with various aims, always within the choral field, for example organising competitions, festivals, musical concerts, masterclasses, seminars, workshops, publications and exhibitions. From its founda-tion up until today it has organised eleven editions of the International Choir Competition and nine editions of the competition “In... Canto sul Garda” (both biennial). The Association carries out its work with contributions from the Town Council of Riva del Garda, from the Autonomous Province of Trento and from the Trentino Choir Federation, as well as through the voluntary work of a large group of choral lovers. The association - led by a board of directors and for many years with the late Mr Gian Carlo Boschin as President - also makes use of the artistic expertise of Professors Giovanni Acciai and Riccardo Giavina. President of the As-sociation is Mrs Lorena Giuliani.

Il 1° Concoso Corale di Budapest la cui prima edizione risale al 1988 ha creato una delle più importanti manife-stazioni culturali in Europa. La serie di festival internazionali di INTERKULTUR, denominazione ormai conosciuta in tutto il mondo per l’alto livello raggiunto sia sotto il profilo artistico che organizzativo, è divenuta punto di riferimento della coralità internazionale con sostenitori in tutto il mondo. Il più grande successo di INTERKULTUR, organizzazione non-profit con sede in Germania, è l’idea di applicare l’antico ideale olimpico al mondo della musica corale dalla quale sono nate le olimpiadi corali nel 2000 a Linz (Austria), il cui felice esito è stato bissato poi ogni due anni, in Corea del Sud (2002), a Brema (Germania) nel 2004, e continuando poi nel 2006 con i World Choir Games di Xia-men (Cina), di Graz (Austria) nel 2008, in Cina con i World Choir Games di Shaoxing (2010) ed infine con la settima edizione che si svolgerà quest’anno a Cincinnati (USA). Nel 2014 i World Choir Games si terranno a Riga in Lettonia.Altra pietra miliare raggiunta nella storia di INTERKULTUR è stata il campionato mondiale per formazioni corali la cui prima edizione si è svolta nel 2009 nella Provincia di Gyeongnam (Repubblica di Corea), seguita nel luglio del 2011 dal World Choir Championship for Youth and Young Adults svoltosi a Graz (Austria).

L’ideaINTERKULTUR è divenuto ormai sinonimo di un concetto artistico unico nel suo genere, poiché ha introdotto una novità rispetto al passato. Mentre importanti concorsi corali tradizionali sono riservati soltanto a cori appartenenti a un’élite a livello internazionale, i festival di INTERKULTUR, collocandosi parallelamente alla forma tradizionale, aprono le porte del confronto artistico a tutti i cori amatoriali desiderosi di vivere l’esperienza del concorso e del festival in campo internazionale come momento di crescita. Uno dei valori ai quali il comitato artistico di INTERKULTUR tiene maggiormente, è che in tutti i concorsi possano trovare spazio sia i migliori gruppi sia la grande varietà di forma-zioni corali di tutti i livelli. Questa scelta artistica è stata copiata da numerosi concorsi sorti in questi ultimi anni. Con l’idea di organizzare i World Choir Games ogni due anni, INTERKULTUR ha trovato la direzione che incoraggia il movimento corale internazionale verso nuovi impulsi e prospettive.

La funzione pedagogicaLe manifestazioni di INTERKULTUR non sono solamente concorsi e festival internazionali. Momento di grande inte-resse per i partecipanti sono le numerose offerte di perfezionamento fondate su una grande competenza artistica e pedagogica. Durante la fase della consultazione per esempio, i cori hanno la possibilità di lavorare insieme a giurie internazionali ricevendo opinioni in merito al livello artistico nonché preziosi consigli pedagogico-artistici per affrontare meglio l’interpretazione del programma scelto. Parallelamente ai concorsi si organizzano inoltre congressi, seminari per direttori di coro, corsi di perfezionamento, conferenze ed incontri con compositori. I concerti e i canti a cori uniti dei partecipanti accentuano ancora di più il momento emozionante tipico degli incontri internazionali di INTERKULTUR.

Il marchio di qualità Da più di un ventennio MUSICA MUNDI® rappresenta l’esclusivo marchio di qualità di tutte le manifestazioni di INTERKULTUR nel mondo. Sin dal primo festival di svoltosi a Budapest nel 1988 il sistema di valutazione – sul quale si basano tutti i concorsi di INTERKULTUR – è stato perfezionato costantemente. Tutti i concorsi di MUSICA

MUNDI® hanno come comune denominatore la qualità a garanzia della comparabilità rispettando tutti i livelli e fissando standard nel mondo della musica corale.

I concorsiIl nuovo concetto di base si rende concreto nella realizzazione di concorsi che offrono più categorie divise per gradi di difficoltà per tutti i tipi di coro con o senza brani d’obbligo. In essi si vive un’atmosfera unica, in cui si offrono condizioni di partecipazione vantaggiose, dense occasioni di contatti artistici, interessanti workshops e consultazioni con esperti prima e dopo la prova in concorso vera e propria. Più di 200 tra esperti e direttori di coro in campo internazionale garantiscono la competente professionalità che contraddistingue le manifestazioni di INTERKULTUR.

Il sistema di valutazioneLa giuria assegna nei concorsi di INTERKULTUR diplomi corrispondenti ai dieci livelli nelle fasce oro, argento e bronzo e medaglie d’oro, d’argento o di bronzo.ai World Choir Games e World Choir Championships in base al particolare sistema di valutazione di MUSICA MUNDI® In ogni categoria si determina un “vincitore” o un “campione” e ad esibizioni di particolare interesse vengono assegnati premi speciali. Alcuni festival contemplano la competizione riservata ai vincitori di categoria per l’assegnazione del gran premio al coro migliore, decretato così vincitore assoluto del concorso.

Paesi ospiti delle manifestazioniI festival di INTERKULTUR si sono svolti in Austria, Cina, Corea del Sud, Germania, Indonesia, Israele, Italia, Malesia, Malta, Repubblica Ceca, Svezia, Ungheria e negli USA e in Vietnam.

I partecipanti5.800 cori con più di 260.000 partecipanti provenienti da 100 nazioni hanno preso parte fino ad oggi ai festival di INTERKULTUR. È interessante notare come più della metà dei partecipanti sia costituita da cori di bambini e cori giovanili i cui membri non hanno più di 25 anni di età.

Finalità di sostegnoIn virtu’ del suo statuto la Fondazione INTERKULTUR persegue le seguenti attività: - promuovere festival musicali internazionali il cui scopo è di avvicinare cori di diversi paesi e culture favorendo

la collaborazione internazionale attraverso il rispetto reciproco e contribuire così alla comprensione tra i popoli- aiutare formazioni corali di bambini e di giovani in particolare provenienti da paesi economicamente arretrati- favorire l’attività di cori amatoriali, specialmente di giovani, sia a livello locale o internazionale, che dimostrano

costante sviluppo artistico- sostenere l’impegno di promettenti direttori di coro, musicisti e coristi con l’assegnazione di buoni studio- sponsorizzare progetti specifici

La partecipazione di molti gruppi alle manifestazioni di INTERKULTUR è stata finanziata in gran parte dalla Fonda-zione INTERKULTUR. Grazie alla costante partecipazione numerose formazioni hanno potuto migliorare considere-volmente il loro livello artistico raggiungendo così una dimensione d’élite internazionale. Gli aiuti finanziari provengono per la maggior parte da sponsor privati e da quote associative, tasse d’iscrizione e di partecipazione, donazioni, fondi pubblici di fondi di regioni o comuni che affiancano INTERKULTUR nell’impegno organizzativo di festival e concorsi.

European Culture AwardNel 2006 la Fondazione INTERKULTUR ha ricevuto l’European Culture Award, riconoscimento iniziato da Hans Die-trich Genscher ed assegnato dal KulturForum Europa, per l’attività svolta in favore della comprensione tra i popoli e per il rafforzamento di un comune pensiero europeo nella cultura.

The First INTERKULTUR International Choir Competition in Budapest, which was held in 1988, was the start of one of the largest and most successful series of cultural events in Europe. The name of these innovative choir competitions and festivals, INTERKULTUR event series, has meanwhile become known throughout the world for its high artistic and organisational standards and has become a concept for the choir-orientated public, with enthusiastic follow-ers all over the world. These events are organized by INTERKULTUR, a non profit organization based in Germany. INTERKULTUR´s biggest success so far, was to bring the antique Olympic idea to the choral world. The Choir Olympics 2000 in Linz (Austria) were the start of a Choir Olympic movement, which made its way through 2002 in Busan (Korea), 2004 in Bremen (Germany) and continued its successful story as “World Choir Games” 2006 in Xiamen (China), 2008 in Graz (Austria), 2010 in Shaoxing (China) and 2012 in Cincinnati (USA). In 2014, the World Choir Games will be held in Riga, Latvia. Another milestone in the history of INTERKULTUR was to establish a World Championship for choirs. The first World Choir Championships were called into being in 2009 and took place in the Province of Gyeongnam (Republic of Korea), followed by the World Choir Championships for Youth and Young Adults in July 2011 in Graz/ Austria.

The ideaMeanwhile, INTERKULTUR has become the symbol for a unique artistic idea, which consists of a new interpretation concerning the execution of choir festivals: In comparison to the meritorious traditional choir competitions, where only international elite choirs are qualified to take part, the INTERKULTUR competitions are open to all amateurs choirs. Choirs from all over the world, interested in gaining international festival and competition experience, can compare themselves with other choirs according to their level of artistic achievement. The artistic committee puts emphasis on the presence of the highest level of choral performers as well as on the presence of the greatest diversity of choirs in all competitions. This new type of competition has been copied by numerous organizations in the past two decades. With the idea to organize the World Choir Games formerly known as “Choir Olympics” biennially, INTERKULTUR has opened a door to new impulses and perspectives for the national and international choral movement.

The Pedagogical conceptThe INTERKULTUR events are not just competitions and international choir festivals; they gain their competence and lasting effect on their participants more and more by pedagogical offers. In consultation rounds, for example, the choirs have the chance to work together with the international jury and to get advice on their current level of achievement, proficient pedagogical and artistic information and suggestions as to how to interpret the chosen piece. In connection with this convention, seminars for conductors, composer portraits and lectures are being offered during the INTERKULTUR events. Friendship and celebration concerts reinforce a big emotional effect of the international choir-meetings organized by INTERKULTUR.

The competitionsThere are various categories for all types and levels of choirs in different degrees of difficulty, with and without compulsory pieces. They offer a unique atmosphere, good competitive conditions, intense artistic contacts, various consultation programs and workshops, as well as practice opportunities with international performers. More than 200 experts and leading choirmasters from all over the world guarantee a high level of expertise in all INTERKUL-TUR events.

evaluation systemThe jury awards Golden, Silver and Bronze Diplomas on 10 levels at INTERKULTUR competitions and Bronze, Silver or Gold Medals at the World Choir Games and World Choir Championships, according to the MUSICA MUND®I evalu-ation system. In each category a winner or champion is determined and outstanding achievements are honoured with special prizes. In some competitions there is an add-on competition of the category winners which determines the grand prix winner, the overall winner of the competition.

The ParticipantsIn total, 5.800 choirs with 260.000 active singers from 100 countries have taken part in the INTERKULTUR com-petitions to date. It is interesting to note that more than half of the participants have been children and youth up to 25 years of age.

Means of supportIn accordance with its statutes, INTERKULTUR supports the following activities:- international music festivals and choir competitions whose goal it is to bring together choirs from different

regions of the world to encourage international collaboration through mutual respect, as well as to contribute to cultural exchange and understanding among nations

- childrens’ and youth choirs, preferably from financially challenged countries- amateur choirs, either local or international, that show intensive and sustained youth development- young, talented choirmasters, young musicians and singers (scholarship awards)- specific sponsorship programmes

Many ensembles have received invitations to other INTERKULTUR events that have been financed to a large degree by INTERKULTUR. Through regular participation in the events, quite a number of choirs have been able to improve their profile remarkably and work their way to the international elite.Sponsorship funds come mainly from private sponsors, as well as from membership fees, participation fees, direct and indirect donations, public sponsorship as well as funds of the countries, regions, cities and communities that are involved as partners in the competitions and festivals.

european culture award INTERKULTUR was awarded the 2006 European Culture Award, called into being by former German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hans Dietrich Genscher and presented by KulturForum Europa, for its activities on behalf of under-standing between peoples and furtherance of common European thinking in the field of culture.

Nato nel 1946, è titolare della cattedra di storia della musica e di paleografia musicale presso il Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” di Milano. È diplomato in organo, composizione e direzione di coro e si è specializzato in paleografia e filologia musicale presso l’Università degli studi di Pavia. Direttore della rivista di storia, arte e cultura "L'Offerta musicale", ha al suo attivo numerose pubblicazioni e revisioni di musiche antiche, saggi musicologici, edizioni critiche, incisioni disco-grafiche di musiche inedite per le case Antes, Stradivari, Sarx e Tactus. Già direttore della “Corale universitaria di Torino”, del “Coro del Teatro comunale di Bologna”, del “Polyphoniae studium” e del “Coro da camera della RAI di Roma”, è attualmente direttore artistico e musicale dei “Solisti del madrigale” e del Collegium vocale et instrumen-tale "Nova ars cantandi” e dei concorsi corali di Quartiano (Lodi) e di Riva del Garda. Per sua iniziativa sono sorti i corsi triennali di perfezionamento “Roberto Goitre”, dedi-cati alla direzione di coro e allo studio dell’interpretazione della musica vocale antica. Collabora con la RAI, con la Fondazione “Gioacchino Rossini” di Pesaro, con la Fonda-zione “Guido d’Arezzo” dell’omonima città e con l’Istituto Cherubini di Roma. Giovanni Acciai was born in 1946. He teaches musical history and early music semiography at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi“ Milan. He studied organ, composition and choir conducting and got a specialisation in music paleog-raphy and philology at Pavia University. He is director of the didactic magazine of choir music “L’offerta musicale“ and has published several articles and reviews on early music, musical essays and critics as well as recordings for the publishers Antes, Stradivari, Sarx and Tactus. He was con-ductor of the “Corale universitaria di Torino“, of the “Coro del Teatro comunale di Bologna“, of the Chamber choir of the Italian Radio and of the “Polyphoniae studium“. Pres-ently, Giovanni Acciai is conductor and artistic director of the “Solisti del madrigale“ and the “Collegium vocale nova ars cantandi“ as well as the international choir competitons of Quartiano and Riva del Garda. Ralf Eisenbeiß, nato nel 1952, dopo il conseguimento della maturità ha studiato pedagogia, filologia germanica ed educazione musicale alla Scuola Superiore di Pedago-gia di Zwickau diplomandosi nel 1979. Dal 1978 al 1981 ha studiato direzione di coro e d’orchestra alla Scuola Superiore di Musica Franz Liszt di Weimar. Nel 1987 ha iniziato l’attività di insegnante di canto corale e direzione di coro. È stato direttore del Coro della Scuola Superiore di Pedagogia di Zwickau, con il quale ha conseguito nume-rosi premi in concorsi nazionali e internazionali. Nel suo repertorio, accanto alla letteratura a cappella dei diversi secoli troviamo anche opere di compositori contemporanei –e grandi lavori sinfonico corali. È stato docente al semi-nario centrale per direttori di coro di Berlino e ha tenuto numerosi corsi di perfezionamento. É spesso direttore ospite in patria e all’estero, tra gli altri ha diretto il Coro della Trinity Western University a Vancouver in Canada. È direttore artistico del Concorso Corale Internazionale Robert Schumann di Zwickau, inoltre è membro del Comitato artistico di INTERKULTUR e nonché direttore artistico dei World Choir Games.

Ralf Eisenbeiß was born in 1952. He studied pedagogy, German philology and musical education. He received his PhD in 1979 at the pedagogical University of Zwickau. From 1978 to 1981, he studied choir and orchestra conducting at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Weimar and was appointed professor for choir conducting in 1987. He was conduc-tor of the renowned Choir of the Pedagogical University Zwickau. Under his direction the choir has won numerous prizes at national and international choir competitions with an extensive repertoire ranging from a cappella literature from different centuries, modern composers as well as great choral symphonic works. He was lecturer at the central seminar for choral conductors in Berlin. He often appears as guest conductor at home and abroad, i.e., with the choir of the Trinity Western University in Vancouver (Canada). Ralf Eisenbeiß is the artistic director of the Inter-national Robert Schumann Choir Competition in Zwickau, and member of Artistic Committee of the INTERKULTUR as well as artistic director of the World Choir Games.

Gábor Hollerung ha studiato all’Accademia musicale “F.Liszt”, diplomandosi in direzione di coro e d’orchestra completando in seguito gli studi ai corsi di perfezionamento di Eric Ericson, Kurt Masur e László Somogyi. Dal 1989 è direttore dell’Orchestra Sinfonica Dohnányi Budafok, e dal 1980 è direttore della Società Corale dell’Accademia di Budapest, con la quale in vent’anni di attività ha vinto in tutti i più importanti concorsi corali europei tra cui Llan-gollen e il Gran Premio al Béla Bartók International Choir Competition di Debrecen. Dal 2001 è direttore musicale dell’Ensemble Honvéd. Dal 2002 è primo direttore ospite della Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra e consulente artistico della “Philharmonia Singers Tel Aviv”. Nel 1988 a Budapest ha ideato e fondato un nuovo concorso corale rivoluzio-nandone la formula tradizionale e che ha dato origine alla consolidata serie di festival corali di Musica Mundi. È uno dei direttori artistici di INTERKULTUR e dei World Choir Games. Nel 2002 gli è stata conferita la Croce al Merito della Repubblica d’Ungheria e nel 2004 ha vinto il Premio Liszt e nel 2006 il premio Jerusalem Prize. Gábor Hollerung studied choral and orchestral conducting at the Liszt Academy of Music and attended the master classes of Eric Ericson, Kurt Masur and László Somogyi. He has been the principal conductor of the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok since 1989 and the conductor of the Budapest Academic Choral Society since 1980 with which he enjoyed a unique series of successes by winning first prizes at all recognized European choir competitions including Llangol-len and the Grand Prix of the Béla Bartók International Choir Competition in Debrecen (Hungary). In 2001 he became the music director of the Honvéd Ensemble and in 2002 he became Chief Guest Conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and Musical Advisor of the Philharmonia Singers Tel Aviv. In 1988 he initiated the foundation of choir events with a revolutionary new artistic concept in Budapest. A whole family of choral events was born following the example under the name "Musica Mundi" which includes also its greatest festival the “Choir Olympics”. Gábor Hol-lerung is one of the artistic directors of INTERKULTUR and of the World Choir Games. In 2002 he was awarded the Knight-cross Order of the Republic by the President of the Republic of Hungary and received the Liszt Prize in 2004 and the Jerusalem Prize in 2006. 1998 and 2008 he received the prize of Artisjus Hungarian Bureau for the Protection of Authors’ Rights

Erland Dalen Norvegia - Norway

Erland Dalen ha studiato musica all’università di Oslo ed ha un master in musica ed intermedialità dell’Università di Edmark. Si dedica alla direzione sin dal 1983, spa-ziando da formazioni corali di bambini, a gruppi giovanili, maschili e femminili. Con la migliore delle sue formazioni - il coro femminile Damenes Aften – ha vinto numerosi primi premi in concorsi internazionali. Il coro Damenes Aften si trova al 23° posto della world ranking list of Top 1000 di INTERKULTUR. Erland Dalen viene spesso invitato all’estero con i suoi cori; quest’anno parteciperà al World Choir Games di Cicninnati con il coro EDTChoir insieme a Thomas Caplin. In ottobre sarà in Cina con un coro misto di 75 elementi. Attualmente collabora con Federazione Corale Norvegese. Ha fatto parte di comissioni giudicatrici in numerosi concorsi corali; ed è autore di brani per cori di bambini e di adulti.

Erland Dalen has graduated in music form the University of Oslo and also has a master in “Music and Intermediality” from Hedmark University College. He has been a conductor since 1983 and today conducts a children choir, a youth choir, a mixed choir and a female choir. Best known of these is the female choir, Damenes Aften, which has won several first prizes in competitions and was ranked 23 in INTERKULTUR world ranking list of Top 1000. Erland Dalen is travelling a lot through the world with different choirs. This summer he will take part in the 7th World Choir Games in Cincinnati (USA) with EDTChoir together with Thomas Caplin. In October he will be touring China with a mixed choir of 75 members. Erland Dalen also works for the Norwegian Choir Association. He has been working as an adjudicator in several choir competitions and also composes music for children and adults choirs.

È stato direttore dell’Orchestra di Musica da Camera di Linz e attualmente dirige il “VHS Singkreis Freistadt”.Nella sua carriera ha diretto numerose opere corali ed orchestrali tra cui “Orfeo ed Euridice“ (Gluck), “Die Jah-reszeiten“ (Haydn), “Messiah”, “Utrechter Te Deum“, “Ale-xanderfest“ (Händel), “Te Deum”, “Psalm 150” (Bruckner), le messe di Schubert, Puccini, Haydn e Mozart, oltre alle esecuzioni operistiche di compositori quail Verdi e Puccini. È stato direttore ospite dell’Orchestra Sinfonica Savaria in Ungheria, e dell’Orchestra Sinfonica della città di Vaasa (Svezia). Fritz Hinterdorfer è presidente della IDOCO (Inter-nationale des Organisations culturelles Ouvrières) dal 1998. È stato uno degli iniziatori e membro della direzione artistica della prima Olimpiade Corale di Linz nel 2000 ed ha fatto parte in seguito della commissione giudicatrice delle Olimpiadi Corali di Busan (2002), Brema (2004). Xiamen (Cina) (2006), e del Concorso Internazionale Anton Bruckner di Linz. Fritz Hinterdorfer was born in Upper Austria in 1936. He has been conductor of the choir “Chor Chemiepark Linz” since 1964. He was conductor of the Linz Chamber Orchestra and presently he is also conductor of the VHS-Singkreis Freis-tadt. He was one of the initiators and members of the artistic direction board of the 1st Choir Olympics in Linz. Later on, he acted as adjudicator at the Choir Olympics in Busan/Korea (2002), in Bremen/Germany (2004) and in Xiamen/China (2006) and at the Anton-Bruckner Choir Competition in Linz. Vocationally he works in the cultural management of Linz and has therefore been awarded several prizes. He was awarded the prestigeous “Goldenes Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich”.

Battista PradalItalia - Italy

Battista Pradal è nato nel 1964. Ha compiuto gli studi musi-cali presso i Conservatori “B. Marcello” di Venezia e “J. Tomadini” di Udine diplomandosi in composizione, piano-forte - con la prof.ssa Wanda Leskovic - musica e direzione corale. Ha studiato direzione d'orchestra frequentando il master triennale presso l'Accademia Europea di Vicenza dove ha preso parte a master class tenuti da docenti di fama internazionale tra cui Kalmar e Renzetti. Il “Cidim”, Comitato Nazionale Italiano Musica, lo ha inserito tra i com-positori italiani nel progetto “Podium”, pubblicazione dedi-cata a musicisti vincitori di rilevanti concorsi internazionali. Sue composizioni, infatti, sono state premiate in importanti concorsi nazionali ed internazionali e pubblicate da diverse case editrici nazionali ed estere. Molti i brani eseguiti in Italia e all’estero, diversi dei quali sono stati incisi. Nel dicembre 2010 il brano Aus Lieb per coro misto è fra le composizioni vincitrici della seconda edizione del Contemporary Americana Festival di Boston (Massachusetts, USA), concorso organiz-zato dal Boston Metro Opera. E' fondatore e direttore del coro e orchestra In Musica Gaudium di Oderzo, ensemble formato da giovani studenti e da musicisti. Con questa formazione Battista Pradal svolge un'intensa attività concertistica con un vasto repertorio di opere corali con accompagnamento di orchestra d'archi, unitamente allo studio di brani per coro a cappella e per sola orchestra, spesso in collaborazione con noti solisti. Insegna armonia e composizione presso la Fon-dazione musicale “Santa Cecilia” di Portogruaro (Venezia). E’ stato membro delle commissioni giudicatrici di concorsi nazionali e internazionali di composizione e di canto corale.

Battista Pradal (born 1964) attended "B. Marcello" and "J. Tomadini" Conservatories in Venice and Udine and obtained diplomas in composition and piano - under the tutelage of Wanda Leskovic - as well as in choral music and choir conducting. He also studied orchestral conducting at the European Academy in Vicenza where he participated in master classes held by such famous teachers as J. Kal-mar and D. Renzetti. Battista Pradal has been included in Cidim's (The National Committee for Italian Music) Podium project, a publication devoted to prominent musicians win-ners at International composition contests. His works have been performed internationally and have been recorded and published by national and international publishers and awarded at many prestigious national and international composition competitions. In December 2010 his work “Aus Lieb” for mixed choir was awarded the second prize at the Contemporary Americana Festival di Boston (Mas-sachusetts, USA), organised by Boston Metro Opera. He is the founding director of "In Musica Gaudium," a choir and orchestra ensemble composed by students and young musicians. With this formation he gives many concerts with a repertoire of choral works with accompaniment of string orchestra and of pieces a cappella and instrumental oft in cooperation with well known soloists. He is teacher of harmony and composition at the Musical Foundation “Santa Cecilia” in Portogruaro, near Venice. He was jury member in various national and international composition and choral competitions.

Dr. Earl Rivers è direttore, professore di musica, direttore di studi corali e capo del dipartimento di ensemble e direzione all’Università di Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). Dr. Earl Rivers, Conductor, is Professor of Music, Director of Choral Studies, and Head of the Division of Ensembles and Conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). Dr. Riv-ers’ graduate conducting program has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as among the top five programs in the U.S.A. Music Director and Conductor from 1988-2008 of the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati (VAE), a professional chamber choir, Rivers and the VAE received two ASCAP-Chorus America Awards for “Adventuresome Pro-gramming of Contemporary Music. Rivers has conducted CCM’s choral and orchestral forces in acclaimed university and regional premieres of John Adams’s On the Transmigration of Souls, Philip Glass’s Symphony No. 5, Tan Dun’s Water Passion after St. Matthew and Bastian Clevé’s film, The Sound of Eternity, with J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor. This season he conducts the Midwest and university premieres of Pend-erecki’s Credo and Augusta Read Thomas’s Ring Out, Wild Bells, To The Wild Sky and leads a festival choir and orchestra with Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass in Carnegie Hall. He has led the CCM Chamber Choir and Philharmonia Orchestra in the cycle of J.S. Bach’s choral/orchestral masterworks – Mass in B Minor, Christmas Oratorio, St. John Passion and St. Matthew Passion, on a concert tour of Portugal. Recent guest conducting includes the Korean premiere of Arvo Pärt's Berliner Mass with South Korea's Incheon City Chorale, Mozart's Coronation Mass and John Rutter’s Requiem in Carnegie Hall, and a residency, concert and teaching at the Sichuan Conservatory in Chengdu, China. He has taught conducting and led masterclasses at the Taipei International Choral Festival in Taiwan, in Seoul, South Korea and at The Juilliard School. He is a recipient of Choral America’s “Michael Korn Founders Award for Development of the Choral Art,” honoring a lifetime of significant contributions to the professional choral art.
