Italian colonialism

Italy before the unification: 1824-1848Italy was unified in 1861.

And two years ago we celebrated the 150° anniversary of Italian unity.

The Hero of the unity was Giuseppe Garibaldi

Italian colonialism in modern era started in 1882.

From 1911-1912 most of the Dodecaneso

islands became Italian.

From 1940 to 1941 some areas of Dalmatia, Montenegro, Albania,Kosovo were occupied by Italian troops .

In 1936 was born the Italian Empire and King Vittorio Emanuele III became Emperor of Ethiopia.

The Empire will end 1943.

Somalia will continue to be Italian till 1960.
