Combining news shots and other photographs, the autodidact joins the ranks of the many artists who have

tapped the powerful images and methods of the media. Like the Dadaist pioneers who developed it after

World War I, Alessandro uses photomontage as a means of social protest. In his Chronicle of the World

fragments of iconic front page photos are collaged into a kind of explosive Christmas tree of war horrors.

Bristling with machine guns and tiny bombers, this “tree” is composed of famous images of victims,

refugees and prisoners from the Vietnam and later con�icts. Some of these recall classical Italo-Christian

art iconography of the Pieta or Madonna and Child. At the very top is the face of a smiling child giving the

peace sign. This “star” is �anked by images of legendary assassinated world peace advocates and that of a

child soldier. At the base Mussolini and Hitler and a �eeing mother carrying her injured child are pushed

aside and dwarfed by the large-scale central hands of a Catholic cleric clenching his cruci�x chain in an

inward and ine�ectual gesture. It is out of this constellation that the horror above explodes. Although the

work is digitally processed and printed on paper, the photo fragments appear to be hastily hand-cut and

crudely pasted onto a blood spattered, shroud-like sheet, as if created in desperation by the victim subjects

themselves on the front line.

On Andrea BertolettiHypocrisy and repression also trouble the graphic arts student, Andrea Bertoletti, but he grapples with

them deep within the individual. Having made a name for himself in Milan in the realm of gra�ti, a genre

revering self-image promotion, Bertoletti attempts to liberate a kind of primal “unmasked” self in recent

canvases. Continuing to work with the spray can combined with acrylic paints, he explores methods of

freely and spontaneously recording momentary constellations of �uctuating sensations and emotions. In

current works, clusters of sharp-edged spikes or coniferous needles created with a highly focusing spray

nozzle coalesce in spiny biomorphic forms that conjure up pulsing bits of lametta garland. These �oat in

gaseous seas of shifting pale color etched by dripping rivulets and stains. One such organism erupts here

and there with forceful sprays of white light in all directions, seemingly causing its amorphous

surroundings to shift color from dark blues through reds to yellows as it writhes and spouts. If this

creature is “Modifying Reality” as the title suggests, in another work a more muddied, dense vegetative

growth penetrating the space from the edge of the canvas, “Lives Outside Itself” by casting o� its own

clusters of needles into its surroundings. “Distance” in a third work may describe the gap between two

suspended concentrations of marks, or, since they are situated near the top of the canvas, the expanse

below them. More transparent than other works, it is possible here to look through black and white spiky

surface patterns deep into the softly billowing nuclei of the two bodies, simple concentrations of the same

subtle blue hue making up the surrounding paler space. “Distance”, seen thus, perhaps refers to that

breach between thorny defensive outer shield and vulnerable core which prevents human beings from

recognizing that they are all made of the same stu�.

On Daniele LocciDaniele Locci, seeks solutions to society’s predicaments far outside himself, turning to America. The myth

of the land of the free continues to resonate highly with many Italians who regard the US more favorably

than their fellow Europeans. In black and white woodcut views of striking American skylines, Locci

revives a medium used during the 1930s Depression to celebrate the soaring skyscraper as a symbol of

economic optimism and urban renewal. His cities are ones known for high quality of life and he highlights

special factors contributing to this: a sailboat and low clouds indicative of Boston’s exemplary harbor

development and mid-Atlantic climate, or the undulating strip of treetops that make up the lakeside

cultural park at the foot of Chicago’s tall buildings. Retaining a hint of Art Deco stylization, the artist

intuitively unites discrete idiosyncratic silhouettes and facade patterns in continuous linear drawing

dominated by horizontals and verticals. The slight hand-made imperfection intrinsic to the woodcut

medium introduces a balancing playful note to the geometric organization. It is a vision where sensitive

organization permits contented coexistence and the �ourishing of individuality and audacious creativity

on a vast scale.

Attraverso la combinazione di notizie, scatti e altre fotogra�e , l' autodidatta si unisce alla schiera dei tanti artisti che hanno sfruttato le immagini potenti e i metodi dei media . Come i pionieri dadaisti che l’hanno sviluppati dopo la prima guerra mondiale , Alessandro usa il fotomontaggio come mezzo di protesta sociale . Nella sua “Cronaca del mondo” dei frammenti iconici delle foto della pagina di fronte sono assemblate in una sorta di esplosivo albero di Natale degli orrori della guerra . Irto di mitragliatrici e piccoli bombardieri , questo "albero" è composto di immagini famose delle vittime , dei profughi e prigionieri del Vietnam e di con�itti successivi. Alcuni di questi ricordano la classica italo - cristiana iconogra�a artistica della Pietà o della Madonna col Bambino . Nella parte superiore è il volto di un bambino sorridente che dà il segno di pace . Questa " stella " è a�ancata da immagini di leggendari sostenitori della pace del mondo assassinati da quella di un bambino soldato . Alla base Mussolini e Hitler e una madre in fuga che porta il suo bambino ferito sono messi da parte e sminuiti dalle lancette centrali su larga scala di un religioso cattolico che stringe la catena del suo croci�sso in un gesto verso l'interno e ine�cace . E’ fuori di questa costellazione , che l'orrore di cui sopra esplode . Anche se il lavoro è elaborato in digitale e stampato su carta , i frammenti delle foto sembrano essere frettolosamente tagliati a mano e grossolanamente incollati su uno schizzo di sangue , simile a un sudario, come se fossero create nella disperazione delle vittime che si espongono in prima linea.

Su Andrea BertolettiL'ipocrisia e la repressione creano problemi anche allo studente di arti gra�che , Andrea Bertoletti , ma lui alle prese con loro penetra in profondità all'interno dell'individuo. Dopo essersi fatto un nome a Milano nel campo dei gra�ti, un genere che ha favorito la promozione della propria immagine, Bertoletti tenta di liberare una sorta di primordiale sé " smascherato " in queste ultime tele . Continuando a lavorare con la bomboletta combinata con i colori acrilici , egli esplora metodi per registrare liberamente e spontaneamente costellazioni momentanee di sensazioni �uttuanti di emozioni . Nelle opere attuali , gruppi di punte taglienti o aghi di conifere creati con un ugello di spruzzo altamente messo a fuoco si fondono in forme biomorfe spinose che evocano il pulsare di pezzi di ghirlanda di lame. Questi galleggiano in mari gassosi di colore pallido colpito da rivoli che gocciolano e da macchie . Un tale

organismo esplode qua e là con spruzzi forti di luce bianca che va in tutte le direzioni , apparentemente obbligando lo spazio circostante amorfo a spostare il colore dal blu scuro attraverso i rossi ai �no gialli come se esso si contorce ed esce fuori. Se questa creatura è "Modi�care la realtà", come suggerisce il titolo, in un'altra opera una più confusa, denso crescita vegetativa che penetra lo spazio dal bordo della tela, "Vivere al di fuori di sé stessi" liberando i propri ammassi di aghi nel suo ambiente. "Distanza": in un terzo lavoro può descrivere il divario tra due concentrazioni sospese di segni, o, dal momento che sono situati vicino alla parte superiore della tela, la distesa sotto di loro. Più trasparente di altre opere, qui è possibile guardare attraverso modelli di super�cie appuntiti in bianco e nero nella profondità dei nuclei dolcemente �uttuanti dei due corpi, semplici concentrazioni della stessa tonalità blu chiara che rendono lo spazio circostante più pallido. "Distanza", visto così, forse si riferisce a quella frattura tra lo spinoso schermo esterno difensivo e il nucleo vulnerabile che impedisce agli esseri umani di riconoscere che essi sono tutti fatti della stessa pasta.

Su Daniele LocciDaniele Locci , cerca soluzioni a situazioni di�cili della società lontano, fuori di sé, girando in America . Il mito della terra della libertà continua a risuonare fortemente insieme a molti italiani che considerano gli Stati Uniti più favorevolmente rispetto ai loro concittadini europei . Nelle vedute in bianco e nero xilogra�a degli splendidi skyline americani , Locci fa rivivere un mezzo utilizzato nel corso degli anni 30 della Depressione per celebrare il grattacielo che si staglia in alto come simbolo di ottimismo economico e di rinnovamento urbano . Le sue città sono quelle note per l'alta qualità della vita ed egli mette in evidenza i fattori speciali che contribuiscono a questo : una barca a vela e le nuvole basse indicativi dello sviluppo esemplare del porto di Boston e del clima medio-atlantico, oppure la striscia ondulata delle cime degli alberi che compongono il parco culturale posto sul lungolago ai piedi degli edi�ci alti di Chicago . Mantenendo un pizzico della stilizzazione Art Deco, l'artista unisce intuitivamente discrete sagome idiosincratiche e modelli di facciata a un disegno lineare continuo dominato da linee orizzontali e verticali . La lieve imperfezione fatta a mano intrinseca al mezzo della xilogra�a introduce una nota giocosa di bilanciamento per l'organizzazione geometrica . Si tratta di una visione in cui l'organizzazione sensibile permette una felice coesistenza e il �orire di individualità e di audace creatività su vasta scala .

Viaggio nella città moderna. E' arrivata in Villa Burba la grande mostra intitolata "I've a message" che,

curata da Cammie Yuen e organizzata dall'Assessorato alla Cultura di Rho, è pronta a sorprendere e

deliziare i visitatori, permettendogli, inoltre, di compiere e vivere un grande viaggio all'interno della città

metropolitana. Tre artisti, tre stili e tre scopi: Andrea Bertoletti col suo astratto derivante dalla street art,

Andrea Alessandro con la digital art diretta conseguenza delle tecniche della gra�ca e Daniele Locci con

la sua stampa d'arte. Grazie ad Andrea Bertoletti incontriamo l'anima della città. Dall'esperienza maturata

tra palazzoni e asfalto, sfociata poi nella street art, il giovane artista ha avviato una ricerca psicologica

all'interno della società contemporanea. Una società che, come sostiene l'artista, indossa delle maschere,

sinonimi e sintomi di contegni e atteggiamenti. Una maschera che però non deve portare la vita a essere

un eterno carnevale. Ma chi anima questa città? Lo spiega Andrea Alessandro grazie alla sua digital art.

La gra�ca, per questo artista, è un ottimo mezzo di comunicazione che può di�ondere un messaggio in

vari modi. Ecco che allora �nzioni, scandali, super�cialità, violenza, povertà, diseguaglianze sociali,

razzismo, guerra e arricchimenti derivanti dal business della droga vengono sbattuti davanti allo

spettatore. E tutto ciò si trasforma in una provocazione che arriva dritta al visitatore, libera e senza �ltri.

Animo e protagonisti rientrano nel grande contenitore cittadino, un contenitore immortalato da Daniele

Locci e dalla sua stampa d'arte. Il panorama di uno skyline risulta essere sempre unico e irripetibile, così

come lo è l'uomo: singolare e unico sia nella vita che nell'arte. Partendo dalla fotogra�a Daniele Locci ci

regala un gioco di luci e ombre unite al tratto essenziale, sintetico, lineare e geometrico uniti a uno sfondo

che genera forme astratte e interpretabili in diversi modi.

A Voyage in the modern city . The exhibition " I've a message", being hosted at the Villa Burba, curated by

Cammie Yuen and organized by the Culture Session of Rho Municipality, is ready to surprise and delight

the visitors , allowing them also to ful�ll and go through a marvelous trip inside the metropolitan city .

Three artists , three styles and three purposes : Andrea Bertoletti with his abstract paintings arising from

street art , Andrea Alessandro with digital art focusing on the use of graphics and Daniele Locci with his

Xylography printmaking . Thanks to Andrea Bertoletti we can meet the soul of the city. Experience drawn

between highrises and asphalt, which he gained from street art , the young artist has launched a

psychological research within contemporary society in which the people, as claimed by the artist, wear

masks , synonyms and symptoms of demeanors and attitudes. A mask that should not bring life to be an

eternal carnival. But who animates this city? Thanks to Andrea Alessandro’s digital art that explains

everything. The graphics for this artist is an excellent means of communication that can spread a message

in various ways. So then �ction , scandals, super�ciality , violence, poverty , social inequality , racism ,

war and drug abuse issues are thrown in front of the viewer. And everything turns into a provocation that

goes straight to the visitor , direct and without �lters. Mood and characters fall into the large container of

being a citizen , a container immortalized by Daniele Locci and his printmaking . The view of a skyline

turns out to be always unique and unrepeatable, just as it is the man : singular and unique both in life and

in art . Starting from the photograph Daniele Locci gives us a play of light and shadow together with the

essential feature , synthetic, linear and geometric combined with a background that creates abstract forms

and can be interpreted in various ways.

Art and society are closely linked.Three young visual artists from Milan using three di�erent techniques, painting, woodcut xylography

and digital art, to communicate their thoughts through their works. “I’ve a message…” is the most direct

way to tell you what they are thinking which to a great extent re�ects the mainstream thoughts of the

contemporary time.

Viewing these works I can see a young man who tries to safeguard and uphold the value of freedom by

constantly provoking you with strong visual elements, one has no chance to escape but will be subtly

forced to confront his challenges. I see another youngster expressing his frustrations about being forced to

conform to the society’s code of attitudes and norms. I see a young student who aspires to be free and

unique by wandering among various skyline silhouettes of the land of opportunities and dreams.

Right or wrong, don’t judge, open your heart and I sincerely invite you to reach out to read the minds of

these young artists, somewhere in time we were all young and shared the same passion for our society…

Arte e società sono strettamente collegati.Tre giovani artisti visivi milanesi che usano tre tecniche diverse , pittura, xilogra�a e arte digitale per

comunicare i loro pensieri attraverso le loro opere . " Ho un messaggio ... " è il modo più diretto per dirvi che

cosa pensano, il che in gran parte ri�ette i pensieri principali del tempo contemporaneo .

Visualizzando queste opere, vedo un giovane uomo che cerca di tutelare il valore della libertà provocando

costantemente con forti elementi visivi ; nessuno ha alcuna possibilità di fuggire , ma sara’ sottilmente

costretto a confrontarsi con le sue s�de . Vedo un altro giovane che esprime la frustrazione di essere

costretto a conformarsi al codice di atteggiamenti e norme della società. Vedo un giovane studente che

aspira ad essere libero e unico girovagando tra i vari skyline della “terra delle opportunità e dei sogni “.

Giusto o sbagliato , non giudicare , apri il tuo cuore e io sinceramente ti invito a cercare di leggere le menti

di questi giovani artisti , da qualche parte nel tempo siamo stati tutti giovani e abbiamo condiviso la stessa

passione per la nostra società…

…..With this exhibition I want to try to approach the issues in our society through provocation that, the most important

thing is to outreach to the viewers, whether in a positive or negative way. We are slaves of �ction and injustice where

the good people su�er and the bad make their way. Religion, as the church thinks to dictate but everyone should

create its own rules and follow its own way. There is right and wrong but to date nothing makes more sense. The best

way to combat is to express ourselves and �ght for our values because there is nothing more important than freedom.

And love? Well nowadays that is almost equivalent to sex, the reality is, sex is beautiful and at the same time

dangerous. We are all attracted to but for some reason we paint us all holy and chaste. Sex is not shameful, indeed it is

the pleasure, love and desire for life. Everything must be taken, however, with the right measures, we have a brain so

let's use it…..

…..Con questa mostra voglio cercare di ri�ettere gli aspetti della nostra societa’ attraverso la provocazione che più di

ogni altra cosa arriva in modo positivo o negativo alla gente. Siamo schiavi della �nzione e dell’ingiustizia dove il

buono paga ed il cattivo si fa strada. La religione, come la chiesa pensa di dettare legge ma ognuno si crea le proprie

regole e il proprio modello da seguire. Esiste un giusto e sbagliato ma ad oggi niente ha più senso. Il modo migliore di

combattere è esprimere se stessi e battersi per i propri valori perché non c’è cosa più importante della libertà. E

l’amore?? beh quello oggi è solo sesso, una realtà da scoprire bella quanto pericolosa. Ne siamo tutti attratti ma per

qualche motivo ci dipingiamo tutti santi e casti. il sesso non è vergogna, anzi è piacere, amore e voglia di vivere. Tutto

va preso però con le giuste misure; abbiamo un cervello perciò usiamolo…..

……we need to live in a community that leads us sometimes to have attitudes that do not belong to us , that makes us

believe we are not we are... from a sentence of F. L. de Rochefocauld , more than three centuries ago but very current in

the content that triggers me to a psychological research in our contemporary society….. In every situation, one takes a

demeanor and attitude to disguise in the way he wants you to believe . Therefore we can say that the world is

composed only of masks .... In short, WE ALWAYS WEAR OUR MASKS HOWEVER, the most important, as very

often happens , is not transforming life into an eternal Carnival ! ……

…… abbiamo bisogno di vivere in una comunità e il vivere in una comunità ci porta qualche volta ad avere

atteggiamenti che non ci appartengono per farci credere quello che non siamo… partendo da una frase di F. de L.

Rochefocauld, di più di tre secoli fa ma attualissima nel contenuto, Andrea Bertoletti avvia una ricerca psicologica

nella società contemporanea - In ogni situazione ciascuno assume un contegno e un atteggiamento esterno per

sembrare come vuole che lo si creda. Perciò si può dire che il mondo è composto soltanto da maschere…. In breve,

INDOSSIAMO UNA MASCHERA SEMPRE E COMUNQUE, l’importante, come molto spesso accade è non

trasformare la vita in un eterno Carnevale!....

……Putting particularly highlights on the skyline of several cities, I want to represent my vision of urban landscapes. I try to convey these unique images not only by playing with light and shadow that outline the di�erent forms of skyscrapers and buildings , but also using a particularly essential , concise and at the same time almost linear and geometric lines.

Just as every skyline turns out to be unique and unrepeatable, just as each of us, every individual must be able to bring out his own individuality and uniqueness, in art as in life…..

….. Mettendo particolarmente in evidenza lo skyline di diverse città, ho voluto rappresentare la mia visione dei panorami metropolitani. Cerco di trasmetterne l’unicità servendomi non solo del gioco di luci ed ombre che delinea le diverse forme di grattacieli e palazzi, ma anche utilizzando un tratto particolarmente essenziale, sintetico e al tempo stesso lineare e quasi geometrico.

“Così come ogni skyline risulta essere unico ed irripetibile, allo stesso modo ognuno di noi, ogni individuo, dev’essere in grado di far emergere la propria singolarità e la propria unicità, nell’arte così come nella vita…..

Andrea Alessandro(Milano, 1991)

Anno 1991 nasce Andrea. è percebile sotto ogni aspetto l'in�uenza della cultura pop,

dei mass media e della pubblicità. La gra�ca diventa lo sfondo sociale in cui viviamo;

allusione, provocazione e apparenza ne caratterizzano gli aspetti predominanti.

C'è una chiara allusione al sesso, alla corruzione, alla religione e alla guerra ma non

manca l'intento di portare una forma d'arte come la gra�ca che cresce di pari passo

con l'innovazione, ad essere non una cornice ma il soggetto principale del quadro.

C'è un continuo riferimento ai layout dei magazine , un utilizzo di font semplici ma

esteticamenti eleganti e funzionali, la ripresa di immagini di illustri fotogra� in voga in questo periodo ma

sopratutto c'è la volontà di provocare, di attirare l'attenzione, di incuriosire chi guarda e di sintetizzare un

piccolo concetto: bene o male l'importante è che se ne parli. Creare un prodotto esteticamente bello è

fondamentale ma farlo durare nel tempo è la cosa più di�cile

Andrea Alessandro vive e lavora a Milano.

Andrea was born in 1991. Like most youngsters of his time he is in�uenced by pop culture, mass media

advertising and publicity. Graphics become the social background in which we live ; allusion , provocation and

appearance characterize the predominant aspects.

There is a clear allusion to sex, corruption , religion and war, but there is the intention of bringing a form of art

such as digital graphics that grows hand in hand with innovation, not to be frame for, but to be the main

subject of the picture.

Many of his works are created and expressed in the layout of a magazine, using simple fonts but aesthetically

elegant and functional, and taking pictures from famous photographers which are currently in vogue. Above

all the desire is to provoke, to attract attention, to intrigue the viewer and to synthesize a small concept

whether good or bad it is important that we talk about it. The artist believes that to create an aesthetically

pleasing work is crucial but to make it last over time and make an impact is the hardest thing.

Andrea Bertoletti(Milano, 1991)

Da sempre appassionato di disegno decide di iscriversi al liceo artistico ed in�ne al

corso di gra�ca d’arte dell’Accademia di belle Arti di Brera . Fondamentale all’inizio

della sua carriera artistica è stato l’avvicinamento al mondo dell’ Hip-Hop, e di

conseguenza ai murales. Percio’ dalle sue opere d’arte ritroviamo spesso materiali più

legati all’industria che all’arte, legni e supporti metallici di recupero, smalti, catrame,

spray, stucchi, resine. L’esigenza di trasferire i propri lavori dal muro alla tela deriva

dalla voglia di  conservare determinati momenti e situazioni che lo spingono a

dipingere, come fossero delle fotogra�e degli stati d’animo, i quali traspaiono

facilmente dai gesti e dai colori usati. L’atto di dipingere non è più una liberazione ma

diventa una cattura, tutto ciò che in quel momento passa per la mente si trasforma in gesto della mano, una

sorta di scrittura automatica. Ad oggi Andrea Bertoletti vive a Milano dove studia e lavora.

Andrea has always loved drawing and decided to enroll in art school and �nally is studying graphic arts at the

Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan. At the beginning of his painting career he was attracted to the world

of '”Hip- Hop” and consequently to painting on the walls as a gra�ti artist. For this reason we often �nd in his

work materials that are from the street, “industrial driven” like wood and metal support , enamel , tar, spray ,

�llers and resins. The need to transfer the works from the walls to canvas comes from his desire to preserve

certain moments and situations, and that motivates him to paint, as if the photographs of moods, translate

easily by the paint strokes and colors used . The act of painting is no longer a liberation , it becomes captive -

everything that in that moment comes to mind is transformed from the painting action into images , a kind of

“automatic writing”. Andrea Bertoletti lives in Milan where he studies and works.

Biogra�a

Daniele Locci(Milano, 1992)

Fin da bambino Daniele e’ fortemente a�ascinato dal mondo del disegno, della pittura

e dell’arte in generale. Cosi crescendo, una volta �nite le scuole medie, ha deciso di

seguire la sua passione frequentando il Liceo Artistico di Busto Arsizio Paolo Candiani

e scegliendo a partire dal terzo anno di studi, l’indirizzo Gra�co-Visivo. Si e’ diplomato

nell’anno scolastico 2010-2011.

Attualmente, sta proseguendo il suo percorso di formazione artistica iscrivendomi

all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera e seguendo il corso “Gra�ca d’Arte” con la

professoressa Angelini Alessandra.

Daniele Locci vive a Milano dove studia e lavora.

Since childhood Daniele has been strongly fascinated by the world of design, painting and art in general. With

his determination to engage himself in the area of art studies, once he �nished middle school, he decided to

follow his passion by attending the Art School of Busto Arsizio Paul Candiani and choosing from the third year

of study to focus on visual arts and graphics. He graduated in the school year 2010-2011.

Currently, He is exploring the further development of artistic education by enrolling in the Academy of Fine

Arts of Brera in Milan, major in " Graphic Art " under the guidance of Professor Alessandra Angelini .

Daniele Locci lives, studies and works in Milan.
