BUYER INTERVIEW

Adriano Vivarelli - a prominent store buyer with over 30 years of experience in the fashion industry - is now telling us about his ‘business enterprise’ at Unique store based in Gorizia (Italy).

#How is the Unique business project born in Gorizia?Fashion has always been part of my DNA. Since I was a child, I liked to play at my grandmother’s furrier shop, and I liked to choose the right outfit for my mother. During the 1980s, together with my wife Giuliana, I decided to open a store of my own. Soon was it such a boom! The persons crossing the threshold of my store would not leave us any longer. At the beginnings, we started to sell renown brands. In particular, Dolce&Gabbana was the brand which excited me more. Its amazing outfits and almost baroque style let me dream! The very designer Stefano Gabbana was used to help me in the purchasing activity and he was pleased to give me optimal tips. Later on, we added other

#What are requisites for a brand to become part of your store showcase? On our opinion, the selection of a brand has always been based on emotion and personal feelings.

Personally, when I look at a new collection, I rapidly see and realize whether it can be suitable for our store and, above all, for our final customers. While I am attending for a trade fair or a fashion event, if I see a piece of clothing which I like

in-depth costumer experience. We also sell unique, refined natural scents and perfumes. Personally, I have been wearing one of those perfumes for years, and people has been asking me for it very often; the same happens with my jacket or jeans!

#If you think about Unique’s evolution in ten years, how would you imagine it?I am not used to think about the future, I prefer to live the present by making the maximum effort, day after day. I do not know about our future in ten years: maybe Unique will be just a memory of the past, but the feelings and emotion which we have scattered everywhere will probably be alive and become unforgettable. That’s for sure!

from the same brand: our customers should not feel like as if they have bought a brand’s selection only, but rather they should feel as if they are wearing Unique’s style.

#Which strategies (also Digital ones) is your store adopting to consolidate its uniqueness?Times have changed and, on my opinion, the concept of elegance does not exist any more. The social networks enable us to post the photos of our outfits and our followers do often purchase what we have posted. The persons who like to follow us, they fully do that; they listen to our advice in terms of style, and they feel excited at every shopping experience. At our store, we can still “breath” the fashion concept as a total,
