The Mediterranean blue of the waters of the great lake, the intense green of the gently rolling hills carpeted in vines and olive trees, and the red-streaked golden-yellow of the sunsets: these are the colours of Bardolino, lying on the eastern shore of Lake Garda at is widest point.Bardolino is a popular holiday resort, a charming lakeside town set against the verdant hills of grapes and olives, with magnificent views of the southern part of the largest of Italy’s lakes. Tourist accommodation includes over fifty 3- and 4-star hotels catering for three thousand, residences, bed & breakfast facilities and seven lakeside campsites covering over 240,000 m2. The area also boasts numerous restaurants that serve the best of the local produce – various types of Bardolino wine, extra-virgin olive oil and fish from the lake, all strictly controlled by the protection consortia. Tasty local dishes can be enjoyed in all the restaurants and trattorias in and around the town, in an area steeped in traditions, culture and art. The landscape: a harmonious continuum of lake, shores and hills.

The lakeside: beaches and secluded canebrakes play an important role in the natural purification of the water, and are also a haven for numerous species of fish as well as migratory and non-migratory birds.

Vast areas are set aside for accommodation facilities; hotels large and small are scattered along the Bardolino coast in the cone formed by the San Zeno, Valsorda and Cisano torrents.

The gently rolling hills carpeted in vineyards and olive groves are furrowed by the Bardolino Wine Road, with country restaurants and holiday farms where traditional dishes are served. The many wineries and farmhouses offer locally-produced wine and olive oil for tasting or purchase.

Weitläufige Räume, die den Beherbergungseinrichtungen in der freien Natur vorbehalten sind; Herbergen und Hotels liegen verstreut am Ufer von Bardolino, das auf dem von den Wildbächen S. Zeno, Valsorda und Cisano gebildeten Kegel liegt.

Durch die mit Weinbergen und Olivenhainen gesäumte Hügellandschaft schlängelt sich die Bardolino-Weinstraße, flankiert von Wirtshäusern und ländlichen Ferieneinrichtungen, in denen in heimeliger Atmosphäre traditionelle Gerichte feilgeboten werden; in den Landwirtschafts- und Winzerbetrieben können lokale Erzeugnisse wie Wein und Öl gekostet und erstanden werden.

...TRA VINO E TURISMO

Agricoltura e turismo, attività favorite dal clima mite mediterraneo e dalla fertilità dell’entroterra collinare, sono la richezza della zona. In passato fu la coltivazione dell’olio, assieme a quella della vite a fare si che questa terra, che produce il vino che ha reso famoso nel mondo il nome di Bardolino, fosse contesa da imperatori, monaci, e famiglie nobili che vi edificarono castelli, conventi e palazzi. È venuto così a formarsi attraverso i secoli uno straordinario patrimonio storico e artistico, testimoniato oggi dai resti di mura scaligere, dalle chiese, dai parchi e ville di epoca Veneziana. A proteggere l’antico nucleo abitato il castello di Bardolino di cui rimangono tracce di mura e le due porte a Nord e Sud del nucleo storico del paese. Sono invece le numerose ville a testimoniare che Bardolino fu fin da tempi lontani apprezzato centro di soggiorno. L’ottocentesca villa Guerrini-Rizzardi costruita sull’area di un’altra più antica, ha di notevole il parco, prospiciente il lago, con resti di antico castello o fortilizio. Termina verso il paese con le antiche case dei Fermi, il cui palazzo conserva l’aspetto primitivo nelle porte finestre, scala esterna e in qualche ambiente interno. La villa Gianfilippi-Campostrini costruita nel 1541, in essa sostarono illustri personaggi, tra cui lo zar Alessandro di Russia e Ferdinando IV di Napoli. L’ottocentesca villa Giuliari Gianfilippi con parco disteso lungo il lago, dove fa riscontro all’altro parco di villa Bottagisio che occupa tutta la parte settentrionale della badia di Bardolino. Villa Marzan, già da Persico a Cisano con un bel parco e Villa Betteloni a Calmasino, casa patronale di architettura semplice.

Farming and tourism, the mainstays of this area, are favoured by the mild Mediterranean climate and the fertile hills. In the past, it was olive farming and vine growing that caused this region, which produces the world famous Bardolino wine, to be hotly contested by emperors, monks and noble families, who built castles, monasteries and mansions there. This gave rise through the centuries to an exceptional historical and artistic heritage, which is still visible today in the ruins of the Scaliger walls, the churches, the parks and the Venetian villas. The centre of the ancient town was guarded by a castle, of which there remain traces of the walls and the north and south gates to the town. The presence of numerous villas bears witness to the fact that Bardolino was a popular holiday resort even in bygone times. The 19th century Villa Guerrieri-Rizzardi, erected on the site of an even older one, boasts a lovely garden overlooking the lake and remains of an ancient castle or fort. The estate is bounded on the town side by ancient dwellings belonging to the Fermi family, whose palazzo still has the original windows and doors, exterior staircase and some of the interior furnishing. Villa Gianfilippi Campostrini was built in 1541. Numerous historic figures stayed there, including Tsar Alexander of Russia and Ferdinand IV of Naples. The park of the 19th century Giulari Gianfilippi villa extends right down to the lake where it meets the estate of villa Bottagisio, which occupies the entire northern part of the bay of Bardolino. Villa Marzano in Cisano was formerly owned by the Persico family and stands in a lovely park; Villa Betteloni in Calmasino is a good example of a manor-house in plain architectural style.

Die Landwirtschaft und der Tourismus, die durch das milde südländische Klima und die Fruchtbarkeit des Hügellandes begünstigt werden, sind der Reichtum des Gebiets. In der Vergangenheit war der Oliven- und Weinanbau in diesem Landstrich, in dem der Wein erzeugt wird, der den Namen Bardolino in der ganzen Welt bekannt gemacht hat, der Grund dafür, dass dieses Gebiet von Kaisern, Mönchen und Adelsfamilien umkämpft wurde, die hier ihre Schlösser, Klöster und Paläste errichteten. Es hat sich hier somit über die Jahrhunderte ein außergewöhnliches Geschichts-, Kunst- und Kulturgut gebildet, von dem heute die Reste der Scaliger-Mauern, die Kirchen, die Parks und die Villen aus der Venezianischen Epoche Zeugnis ablegen. Einstmals dienten das Schloss Bardolino, von dem noch Mauerreste besichtigt werden können, und die beiden Stadttore im Norden und Süden des alten Dorfkerns dem Schutz der historischen Altstadt. Die zahlreichen Villen bezeugen, dass Bardolino bereits in sehr weit zurückliegenden Zeiten als Urlaubsort überaus geschätzt wurde. Die Villa Guerrieri-Rizzardi aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, die an der Stelle eines noch älteren Gebäudes errichtet wurde, hebt sich durch ihren Park mit Aussicht auf den See und die Reste der alten Burg oder Festung hervor. Das Grundstück endet zum Dorf hin mit den alten Häusern der Familie Fermi, deren Palast sein ursprüngliches Aussehen in den Fenstertüren, an der Außentreppe und in einigen Innenräumen beibehalten hat. Die im Jahr 1541 erbaute Villa Gianfilippi-Campostrini, in der sich berühmte Persönlichkeiten aufhielten, unter ihnen Zar Alexander von Russland und Ferdinand IV. von Neapel. Erwähnenswert ist auch die Villa Giuliari Gianfilippi aus dem 19. Jahrhundert mit ihrem sich über das Seeufer erstreckenden Park. An diesen grenzt der Park der Villa Bottagisio, der den gesamten nördlichen Teil der Bucht von Bardolino einnimmt. Auch die Villa Marzan, die einst der Familie Persico von Cisano gehörte, mit ihrem wunderschönen Park, und die Villa Betteloni in Calmasino, ein Herrenhaus in einfachem Baustil, dürfen in dieser Aufzählung nicht fehlen.
