THE ORIGIN OF THE MOUNTAINS

VOLCANOGENIC MOUNTAINS.

From the inner part of the earth, the magma rises towards the top.

When the magma comes out of the splits of the earth it becomes

lava flow.

When time passes, the lava gets transformed in rocks.

TECTONICS MOUNTAINS.

the magma from the inner part of the earth pushes towards the big rock

walls.

The rock walls collide pushing upwards.

IN THE MOUNTAINS

In the mountains, you can find many different animals and plants.

Their life depend on the altitude in which they live.

At low heights (from 600 to 1 000 mt.) there are woods of beeches,

chestnuts, oaks.

There are squirrels, foxes, golden pheasants, wild boars, hares.

Between 1 000 and 2 000 mt. there are needle-shaped trees,

as the scotch pine, the silver fir, the larch.

Here you may find bears, wolves, deers and roes.

Higher, up to 3 000 mt, it is cold and the wind blows on the bare

upland slopes .

There are low plants which survive in the wind and coldness:

edelweiss,mountain pine , rododendrn, blueberry

.

There are animals as the marmot, the steinbock, the chamois, the

eagle, the peregrin fawk.

Above 3 000 mt., the snow never melts and it is very cold.

There are : rocks and lichen.

LIFE IN THE MOUNTAINS

Life is not easy in the mountains.

The land is steep and its very cold.

It’s difficult to cultivate build houses and roads.

People cultivate the lands down in the plains.

People plant apple trees and vines on the slopes of the mountain.

People breed cattle, sheep and goats to produce butter milk and cheese.

At winter the animals stay in the stables down in the plain; during the

warm months, the animals go to the uplands.

The wood comes from the trees of the forest and people use it to

handcraft objects and sculptures.

In the mountains people build dams and water energy is used to

produce electricity.

Roads, hotels, restaurants and sport facility are built to encourage

tourists.
