Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige Let’s start from Franciacorta, an intense, voluptuous and elegant wine.
Starting from the North-‐Eastern tip of Italy we find wines brimming
with freshness and sapidity, sometimes rich in aroma but always preserving a wonderful smoothness, even when they gain some slight measure of the “orange” qualities of a skin-‐contact wine. If we descend in the land of Veneto the chalice becomes denser and more complex, eventually leaving room to a captivating minerality.

Piedmont, Lombardy &Emilia Romagna Piedmont offers several distinct souls: fresh, slightly aromatic whites, the simplicity of ancient wines or even the lavishness of great international grape varieties aged in casks. Intense and mineral cut for the zone of lakes in Lombardy, innovative tradition in Emilia Romagna brings together grape varieties with noble mud, along with a mellower palate.

Tuscany, Marche & Abruzzo Boasting both international and local
grape varieties, Tuscany’s whites show an amazing variety in their terroir, achieving sometimes results that are palatable for all tastes, and sometimes more eccentric flavours. On the opposite side, Marche e Abruzzo aims straight at the great classics, which tell the history of this land with candor and simplicity.

Campania, Apulia & Calabria There is a strong identity and an intense tang in the whites of the South. Campania offers higher alcoholic contents and a variable olfactory range; Apulia tends to a

The wines in the North-‐Eastern part of Italy are similar, and yet completely different. The key words here are always refinement and elegance. In Trentino, this takes shape in one of the very few Italian lands (and climates) that can produce a high-‐quality pinot noir, fresher compared to its French counterpart. In Friuli the sapidity and minerality of the land allows for the production of native labels with a unique character, while in Veneto the sinuous roundness found in Valpolicella is the leading influence.

Tuscany & Umbria There is a history of great, world-‐renowned wines
here, where one grape variety overshadows the others: the sangiovese. You can find each and every facet of this grape here: the juicy roundness of the Brunello di Montalcino, the verticality of the classic Chianti, the suppleness of the Nobile di Montepulciano. Tannins become more noticeable if we look at Umbria, with the full fruit of sagrantino.

Abruzzo, Apulia & Calabria Full, vigorous red wines are encountered as we descend toward the South of Italy, made from grape varieties that tell the history of the land and its winemakers.

BORDEAUX (Cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot)
A blend of grape varieties (cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, petit verdot) that for centuries has made this place one of the most celebrated and world-‐renowned realities of winemaking. In Médoc, North of the region that lies along the Gironde estuary, some of the most famous denominations can be found: Margaux, Pauillac, Saint-‐Julien. The wines of this region are characterized by a solid structure, and also by noticeable but harmonious tannins given the long aging periods. Moving South we can reach Graves, where the style is still focused on vigorous, striking wines, but juicier compared to the Médoc production. We end upon Saint-‐Émilion, in the Eastern part of the region, for softer, rounder labels.

Burgundy The best word to describe Burgundy is “class”. Of course, pinot noir is the undisputed protagonist here. The qualitative differences of the wines in Burgundy are strongly tied to the various vineyards and each village is known by the small domaines that represent it in the world: Aloxe-‐Corton, Gevrey-‐Chambertin, Nuits-‐Saint-‐Georges, Pommard, Puligny-‐Montrachet, Volnay, Vosne-‐Romanée, and many others. Each of these aims toward the production of elegant, refined and majestic pinot noir labels. DOMAINE MARQUIS D‘ANGERVILLE – Volnay Volnay Caillerets 2013 € 160,00

Italia & Francia Italy & France
Passiti, muffati, vendemmie tardive, vini aromatizzati. Dry, mouldy, late-‐harvested, aromatised wines. Winemakers in Italy and around the world have always loved to experiment, taste, and occasionally dare. Sometimes by chance, by mistake or by some clever idea, wines with a well-‐defined identity were born, destined to be remembered by history and by the mind of whoever ends the meal with them.
